    Good Work. I’ve found that using an anti-seize compound on the crankshaft and engine bolts will help with removal in the future. Any time you have a steel bolt going into aluminum it’s a good idea. Seems like I’m always drilling or using a bolt extractor because the factory doesn’t use anti-seize.

    Was going to swap a good working Briggs motor from a Craftsman self-propel 22" to a Toro Personal Pace 20" that runs but smokes after about 10 minutes of running. Looked like the same engine. They were close, but different keyways, so the swap would have worked until the key snapped. Now I think I'm going to fix the self-propel wheels on the craftsman and keep looking for a donor motor for the Toro.

    That's just like the Toro I just did an engine swap on, but I found another Toro with almost the same tecumseh engine for $20. Then I swapped the flywheel and electric start pieces.
    Now I just need a charged battery. The bad engine was leaking oil from rubber case breather connection on top under the flywheel and the engine knocked.

    I think the blade bolt for the Honda is smaller than the one Toro used, that makes it very difficult to center the blade properly which is probably why it is vibrating so much. Just went through the same thing when I swapped a Craftsman Briggs for a dead Toro Techumseh. The cheapo MTD mowers use a smaller blade bolt than the Toros even though the shaft is the same size. I had to carefully measure the distance from the blade tip to the deck to get it even enough to stop the vibration.

    • @HomeGaragechannel
      @HomeGaragechannel  Před 3 lety

      The shaft sizes will be different. The smaller engine should also have the smaller diameter shaft, so you'll have to contend with the drive pulley not adapting. Why would you need to put the primer bulb on the engine without it? It should have some sort of choke system on there to help it start.
