    Great review! I watch this before purchasing the new Skycamp 3.0 and it was instrumental in my decision to go the iKamper direction. Wanted to let everyone know that you CAN now close the insulation in the 3.0 but you MUST unclip the 9 c-brackets from the aluminum bar and the 4 s-hooks from the highest mount before closing.
    Along with the insulation I can put 2 pillows, the deflated iKamper RTT Comfort (the inflatable mattress they sell), the iKamper RTT DBL (sleeping bag), the iKamper RTT Blanket DBL (Primaloft quilt), and a king size sheet! All this need to be pushed to the far back corner before closing. It’s a godsend for keeping the Jeep organized through cold camping.

      By the far corner do you mean the high side of the bulge in the tent?

    • @JeremiahPavkovich
      @JeremiahPavkovich Před rokem

      @@Westcoastrocksduh not the high bulge but the opposite side of the ladder. There’s a decent sized gap that runs the length of the tent (for me, from drivers seat to back seat behind driver).

    Very informative review, I just bought the insulation for the 2.0 and happen to run across your channel. Can't wait to test it out in the snow as I'm heading to mammoth after Xmas. Keep up the good work.

    Well, you def put the insulation (and the tent itself) through a legitimate test, and I’ve got to say that the iKamper seemed to have performed reasonably well.
    Listen, this is great content and you’re going to see more people connect to the channel. This is exactly the kind of material folks like me flock to. Honest reviews from someone that is passionate about being outdoors. Keep going.

    Thanks for the video. I'm in the market for a hardshell rtt and I really like what ikamper has. Your review definitely helped me.

    Granted I have not camped in temperatures as low as that, I had zero condensation on the inside exposed aluminum when using the insulation layer. I opened the side windows on either side a few inches just for a little bit of ventilation. I also have installed thin adhesive carpet squares on the entire floor, and I know that helps with condensation. I’d highly recommend that mod.

      I thought about carpeting the floor too. Good idea, thanks!

    So, in single digit temperatures, your going to be warm, With a -10 sleeping bag?
    How cold is the Inside tent temperature?
    Did you use a thermometer?
    I'm going to run a test soon with a thermometer.

    Any new intel on how to close the tent with the insulation inside?

    • @varsityoverland
      @varsityoverland  Před 2 lety +1

      Unfortunately not. So far ive just been taking it apart and rolling it into the bag. Luckily its a pretty quick process 🤷‍♂️

    They should make it 4 season and very thick... No more options needed.

    Does it hinder the amount of stuff you can pack in the tent now that you have the insulation in there?

    • @varsityoverland
      @varsityoverland  Před rokem

      The insulation can't be packed into the tent when its closed (at least I haven't been successful doing it)

      @@varsityoverland from what they mention in the instructions you have to unclip it from the bar and push it towards the back of the tent

    What was the temperature difference inside versus outside the tent with the insulation?

    • @varsityoverland

      Unfortunately I dont know the exact temperature difference. I didn't have a way to measure it. All I know is we were comfortable inside.
