Tetsuji Hayashi, who composed Anri's "I CAN'T STOP THE LONELINESS", was a Japanese composer, arranger, and singer-songwriter. He made his debut as a singer-songwriter in April 1973,
He composed and arranged an astonishing number of hit songs in Japan in the 80's and 90's. He was one of the most famous hit makers of J pop songs in the 80's. Perhaps it would be easier to understand him as the Japanese version of David Foster.
His following songs are representative works, all of which were big hits that were well-known to all Japanese at that time.
(Tetsushi Hayashi's compositions.)
“Midnight Door - Stay With Me" for Miki Matsubara
Mariya Takeuchi "SEPTEMBER
Masaki Ueda "Sea looks like sad colors.",
Anri "I Cannot Stop the Loneliness ", "YOU ARE NOT ALONE
For Kiyotaka Sugiyama & Omega Tribe
“SUMMER SUSPICION”, “Your Heart is Marine Blue”, “RIVERSIDE HOTEL”
“A Summer Tale of Two of Us-Never Ending Summer”-, “Full of Silence”
"North Wing" for Akina Nakamori
"Love Story” forTomoyo Harada
Momoko Kikuchi "Graduation”
To Junichi Inagaki "A Dozen Excuses," "MARIA," "Can't Talk About It”
“Sad Diamond Ring”, “For Whom...”, “Love in My Arms”, etc.
thank you so much for sharing this trivia, very insightful!
This comment is gold🌟 ✨
Sometimes people's typing looong comment with no single paragraph or space between paragraph, like tf how I supposed to read it!

Thanks for your reply.
There were many unknown treasures of Japanese popular music in the past that were not released in the West.
I hope you find some musical treasures to your liking!
is, not was, Hayashi is still alive
I am picturing myself driving through Tokyo at sunset while blasting this song at full volume. Loving the vibes of city pop.
In traffic?
I see myself drifting at 3am alone in japan in a r31 skyline in the 80s
80s (City)Pop hits totally different.
I mean... apart from the lyrics and the meaning of the song there is just something special at 80s JPop / Citypop.
I could listen to this stuff 24/7
literally its amazing

There are many works by Tetsuji Hayashi, so if you are just starting to listen to them, you might start with the following.
・Kiyotaka Sugiyama and Omega Tribe's works
This was a project that put a young band called Omega Tribe on the front with Tetsuji Hayashi as the main composer and creator.
This series of works became big hits in Japan in the 1980s, and Kiyotaka Sugiyama became a star singer, Hayashi, however, remained behind the scenes as the creator of the project.
Their hits include some of Hayashi's classic 80s city pop songs.

Music and Arrangement: Tetsuji Hayashi, Supervisor - Tetsuji Hayashi
・These were original works released under the name of Tetsuji Hayashi as a singer-songwriter. Unfortunately, they were not as big hits as his works for other singers, but their works show that he was a hit maker.

Her live vocal performance is very close her stuido/album recording! Amazing!
i dont know why but this kind of female japanese vocal was so freakin fit to the 80's citypop music, better than female english vocal. The funny thing is this sound can bring you to your sweetest and saddest memory at the same time😢😂

Anri : I can't steuph 🎶🎶🎵🎶
"I can't Stap !"
I love the way she said it
I thought i was the only guy noticing this kk. She is like a little girl when she try to say "steuph" the loneliness
after I realize that, I can't stop listening "I can't steauph" 😅

The perfect 'how I look vs how I feel' song
Imagine how big Japanese music would be now if the music industry carried out global promotions
The issue is that Japan rejected streaming services, they still listen to CDs. Every Japanese song till some years ago was completly blocked worldwide.
Carried Out global because east asians more beatiful than european demon dealers
@@AyueKodamaesyeah, Japan really shot themselves in the foot with that since they were, before the regional blocking, the leading top music in Asia listened to by the most Asian countries and was gaining traction. Idk what made them do what they did but look what they could have been by kpops success.

Literally just Japanese singing black american music…and often doing it worse.
These lyrics capture perfectly a womans heartache and loneliness. I would imagine this was popular amongst teenagers at the time.
New Citypop crush just dropped
Omg I just watched a short clip and now I'm here and totally obsessed.😩2024.
something about 80's japanese music makes me feel so amazing and sombre and weird inside idk how to explain it, im just a kid but DAMN this shit makes me so uncontrollably happy. wish i was born in the 80's sometimes :\
I cry and dance everytime.
3:32 Love the bum note by the overblowing saxophonist who was really into the moment. Love that false stop on the chorus!
*Trumpet. But yes, it was actually a nice touch :)
Definitely trumlet...the 2nd trumpet at that. It's always funny what a common ear perceives vs a "trained one"
The backup vocals are also very good. Wow.
At first, I thought this was a jolly disco song, but then I researched and looked for the lyrics and came across this video, I was sobbing. Such a masterpiece from Anri! ❤

She sounds really amazing! Still amazed that this is her live performance, like damn.
That I can't stop at the end hits the spot
A song almost like manic depression. Super hyped and sad, not working in shifts though, but at the same time together. Now that's a new level of spleen.
Man I can't believe this ain't more popular
The backing vocal gives me chill.
Perfect music!!!!
I m loving her voice its soo good when she says " i can't stop the loneliness " 🤩
Thank you, CZcams algorithm.
Embracing sadness is the peak of oriental philosophy
Oh yeah, Anri is one of my favorite Japanese singers I like most of her songs, one of them is "I Can't Stop the Loneliness".
This is the most 80s thing I've ever seen
i once recommended this to someone. i hope when they find this song again, they remember me.
What a voice!!! This version shows how amazing singer she is. And the feeling is son perfect too.
This song has no bussisnes going this hard👀🔥
It has no business getting me this hard either 🔥🔥🔥
I like this song and the mood of the singer. This is how sadness should be fought
들으면 듣을수록 믿을 수 없는 40년 전 곳

There's something beautiful and nostalgic about that analog lighting and videography. A feeling that only exists in memory now. Like family video tapes.
What an absolute legend
