2:17 The technician thinks it's an OBD2 connector for the customer's insurance (so they can track their driving habits). Either way, it wasn't even plugged in.
2:27 Calling a locksmith would have been a lot cheaper...

Hopefully he was able to stop though. It's just ridiculous how some people don't understand basic things like brakes needing to stop the car and putting
putting lubricants will hinder the braking process.
@@VintageCars999 guess they just thought wd40 was magical anti-squeak spray and not a lubricant
Happens all the time with customers and their bicycles (I used to work in a bike store), and it really degrades the braking performance of a bike, whilst also not curing the squeal.

Another fantastic welding job!!🤣🤣

2:36 I've talked to a few glass repairs shops about this. Evidently, it's more expensive to break the small window rather than the large one. At least, that's what they tell me.
To replace the big window all you need to do is to take off the inside door panel. To replace the small one you need to disassemble the entire rear quarter panel
It might have been interesting to hear the conversation when the mechanic told the customer that their transmission blew up.
Years ago I replaced the head gasket on a small Subaru van. During the following road test the clutch decided to disintegrate. The conversation with the customer was most unpleasant.
@guzziwheeler Interesting, thank you for sharing. I know most customers don't understand basically how vehicles work. You do an oil change, and their brakes happen to hit the wear sensor the next day. It had to be you because it was fine before you worked on it.
Thats among the worst things about being a mechanic. When your customer doesn't understand that something has been wearing out and then it dies during or after the visit. Usually there are signs, in this case probably been running low on transmission fluid.
Few years back I had a 1980 Vette towed in for a rear wheel bearing that fell apart. On the test drive after, if you snapped the throttle the car jumped a full lane to the left. I put it back on the hoist and looked further... frame was cracked along the front coil springs. You wouldn't look at that spot just to put it up halfway and do a rear bearing. He tried blaming it on us.
Awesome as ever dude 👌
Engine tray screwed into the transmission made me laugh 😂 have a great rest of your week my friend 👍

I knew a guy that put Armor All on his moped tires then went out for a ride and the road was wet. He Armor Alled all of the tires. He made it to the bottom of his driveway before he was on the ground.
Had a customer last year bring one in... he mixed gasoline and brake fluid trying to stop the squeaking... cause he said that's what he did in a GM factory in the 80s to shut something up on the factory line.
I'm assuming the problem here is that he's lubricating something you want to have friction? Looked like the pads were broken wasn't sure if it was a known chemical reaction or something
@@PinkMonkeyBird brakes must be kept free of all liquids, contaminates, and have a bare surface to work. WD40 will not only heavily reduce friction, when it gets hot and gasses off, that gassing further prevents brake contact and reduces friction even further. It's a recipe for disaster.
If you have to break a window, break the front passenger side. Never the small ones, those are more expensive, harder to get and more likely to leak after.
Noted. Thanks! I'll try this next week
I've made slim jims. It's not hard to do. I don't know how many car doors are protected against those things. But I've managed to open the few I've tried.

2:30 Protip: Never smash that small window. They're a lot more expensive than regular door glass, It's best to break the regular door glass because it's a lot easier to find.
Had a coworker learn that one day on his wife's car. A front passenger window? $60 in mint condition used, available that day, takes 30 minutes to change. The little rear window? Listed for $900, was integral with the entire rear door seal/ window track, had to be special ordered, took a week to arrive, and a couple hours to change.
It's cheaper to have a spare key. If you lose the spare, replace the damn thing.
um ... actually it would be cheaper to call a locksmith ...
The hood falling happened to me except it closed on my hand. I was stuck and couldn't reach into the car to release the hood. Thankfully my wife heard me yelling and came to the rescue.
The lesson here is if your vehicle doesn't have a prop rod, use wood or something to ensure it doesn't fall on you.
Tennis ball slit open on the hook latch very handy. I dropped a exhaust manifold underneath and rv once (doing gaskets), it knocked the tranny outta park. It rolled, I wedged my creeper under the tire , still caught up with creeper. Took 15 minutes for someone to hear me yelling from underneath. Lol life happens.

Some of these poor cars look like the mechanic will require a biohazard suit to just inspect the car, let alone work on it...
1:55 fraud. They changed the odometer to try and get a free motor from the manufacturer
An another possible reason for that problem for your future reference: hot caffee make steam or vapor goes into button row mixes with dirt and dust creating a conductive layer over contacts. Decreases the otherwise infinite resistance to a level of 10..100kohm. This does not sound much but sometimes engeneers realize buttton rows as a switched resistor ladder. Resistance of moist dust comparable to resistance what engeneer used in the circuit.
