My concern with these news is that I'll start on a fresh server as a PC player and not really have many people to play with, since the majority of the server's population will be console and they might decide to turn off cross play.
Every big company in the USA is a marketing engine. They care about diversity and inclusion more than the quality of the product they are making. American companies are becoming hollow shells reflecting woke values. Its amazing they actually produce anything that sells. Disney is the worst offender. Quality products are a thing of the past. How many black, female, gay characters you have in your advertising is all they care about.
I truly don't understand their thinking other than money grab. And with No progression in cross play, this is going to fail so hard. So sad. Another great video DukeSloth, thank you.
They wont fix the PVP, so they're going to limit the war loggers interactions with the new player base. It's over folks, find other MMO's that actually appreciate their players. Also write the president of Amazon games and tell them you may not purchase LOTR game because of AGS actions in New World.
I think war loggers are a legit issue that will harm the console player base, but that is ultimately AGS' fault. They are the ones that created a game with a system where war loggers can exist.
They don't care because they think your opinion is an outlier and doesn't represent the mainstream 900k players who bought their game and are content never to play it.
I think if console players select the option to play with console, it's going to have to combine Xbox and Playstation together. Otherwise, it's not much of a choice and people would opt to play with PC players - which is what you said. But that's exactly why they will likely make it Xbox and Playstation combined, otherwise it won't make much sense and they might as well not offer the option at all.
Console players that turn off cross play just don't see or interact with anyone in the world that isn't on the same console. I suspect this was another reason for them introducing sharding. They would essentially have their own server layer
Perhaps cross realm only involves queueable group content so you can play (temporarily) with your friends during those types of content. AGS would probably isolate the economic side of the game to the individual servers. Server transfers and cross play are not the same thing.
Imagine a company that has spent the last year making the game worse and their only concerns are getting more players to spend money. What's their priorities?

i think they're trying to avoid issues with aim-assist complaints. they will give players the option to not play against console in pvp. makes sense to me.
From what I've seen and read it looks like server transfers will either be going away or be radically reworked. The new login system that is supposed to remove login queues can slot you into a different server and that wouldn't make sense unless the server transfer mechanic is reworked.
This isn’t true at all. Sharding is not “transferring” servers. It’s more than 1 instance of a zone or area on the same server. Login queues were an issue because either the server was capped, or there are too many people in the zone that your character is trying to log into. That’s why sometimes even when there’s like 400 people on a server, you can still get a login queue.

I feel like AGS is banking on pc players that have consoles to re buy the game so that they can play with their console friends or to troll the new players base.
Here’s the thing 95% of console MMO players will not disable cross play from pc, from what I see most console players wish to have cross play on other mmo titles with pvp BDO being a good example, due to the game feeling feeling more alive pve players will want cross play for faster expedition runs etc, the mmo community is a mmo community at the end of the day and its not really separated by your platform.

You are too optimistic. In the long run, console players will leave New World before moving onto legacy servers (or enabling crossplay) because they will get bored
New World servers are not that big, even with a couple of crossplay-off servers, those would probably be filled pretty quick. I would guess that AGS won't want to spin up a bunch of those, so the big influx of players are likely to be on crossplay servers. Thumbs up.

I barly play any more been in a few times but s-pass is bugged for me like it was at s1-2 se if they realse it like before ore not am not grind stamps thats for sure :) 30 min in game feels more like 3 hours to day, and for people worring about they forget about pc player don´t the hype for console is gonna be small, only people with game pass is gonna download it they still need a miracle to revive this game and that´s impoible with out pc majority and if no crossplay they are dead in the water already. And is it even gonna run on a ps5? under the hood they have what 2 5700 slower clock then 5700xt from 2018 slow memory speeds to it´s gonna be fun to watch that´s for sure.
they do it on default to the crossplay and you have to go in an activate it then just shut the game down for pc beacuse they are loosing player each months and if they are gonna do this they are not making it easy for pc players
I've thought about what you have said over the past few videos and unfortunately I think you are wrong. Once console players face the many cheaters on PC (plus know it all chat spamming PC sweaties, endlessly calling them garbage), they will all want to play on console only. There are so many subtle cheats there is no way to stop them all, too much gets done client side (heck, I contemplate just playing on the console only server, I despise cheaters and consoles have far fewer of them. Cheating is gaming's #1 problem IMO and AGS can't stop them). AGS will end up shutting down the only PC server since it will eat itself. The lone console-PC server will last longer but also die. Console could end up being the only way to play this game after 2 years IMO. Gotta face the facts, too many PC players directly ruin the games they play and NW PC player base is way too small for it to continue. (hopefully I am wrong but my gut tells me console will be the way to play after October, or stop playing)
Probably not going to affect much. Most players will want the ability to use cross-play. Without it, they’re severely limiting themselves with who they can play with. Most people have friends with all 3 systems and they’d want the capability to play with them

I think what existing players should be highlighting to newcomers, especially in places like reddit, is that joining a legacy server will be 100% the way to go if you want fast progression, veteran support, and low TP costs. I can't be the only one who remembers how high material costs were at launch, and how crowded farming areas were. In an existing server, someone interested in crafting will be able to get materials for super cheap compared to fresh servers, as well as trade skill gear for the cheap as well. I also highly doubt there will be any high level players around willing to randomly give newcomers gold to get started, or help them with difficult content when they get stuck.
Pure delusion to think most Console players will eventually opt into crossplay. PvP wise Console players will quickly realize they're at a huge disadvantage and never turn on crossplay again unless they absolutely have to. PC players need console players much more than console players need PC players.
Why add consoles and cross world just to segregate it in other ways. If you're worried about PC players having a leg up then find a way to balance it in game instead of this lazy nonsense.

The open world pvp the first month of the game is what makes fresh start servers so great imo they'd be missing out on that heavily
