Blue Ocean vs Red Ocean Business Strategies

  • Businesses compete in various markets. One way to look at it is as in an ocean. In a red ocean there is blood in the water as firms are constantly fighting and competing for market share and customers. This is a very competitive tough market, while a Blue Ocean is a free from competition market. Firms will try to develop new products or services that put them in a Blue Ocean without competition. They do this by creating a whole new market. Thing low cost flights versus traditional flights. Fancy hamburger joints versus fast food burger joints.

Microsoft Surface: We travel with a Microsoft Surface everywhere we go. I edit my videos on it & use it to backup my pictures and vides while we travel. It’s light and the best travel laptop on the market in my opinion.

Lights: Mount Dog 18’ Ring Light Kit. It will light up your filming space so your videos will look clearer and film better. We started using it and it makes all the difference.

Sony Alpha Camera: We use Sony Alpha series cameras to film our videos. They are compact so you don’t look like a super tourist when you take great pictures and videos while you film on location.
    amzn.to/2WbTNFH
Manfrotto Tripod: We use Manfrotto Tripods. They are compact, travel well, and honestly I would not use another tripod for my nice cameras.

Great overview of Blue v Red. 👍 Have *_not_* read the book but have discussed the concepts for years. "Looking for untapped markets" is certainly prudent but business success relies on way more than that despite what the authors promote. Product innovation, customer service, channel management, disciplined growth strategies, etc. are usually more important than being first to market. Timing is often everything, eh?

completely agree. sometimes when I read the latest guru book I feel they push their idea as the end all be all when it is in reality a part of a successful strategy, not the end all be all.

The key is getting ppl who didn't spend money and literally just stayed at home and saved. Halal restaurants get them here. They attract those families who ate at home before who now take all their family to eat out.
