As a UF fan, I’ll never get over this loss. The good old days for Gator basketball. Best team in the country going into this game and we probably would’ve won it all if we won this game. Just glad Kentucky didn’t end up winning the National Championship.
Florida had 3 losses all season but 2 of those to UConn. Donovan had some strong Florida teams but after '07 the gators just couldn't get over the hump including 3 straight elite 8 losses
The difference is Florida had THREE LOTTERY PICKS in 06 07 , not hard to figure out why they repeated. When you don't , it's a HUGE gap to fill. Talent wins championships.
Even at the beginning of the game when Florida got out to the early big lead - you could tell that UConn was just so much quicker, Florida looked slow and plodding compared to them. It eventually caught up to UF as they were winded in the second half and couldn't find any offense.
I hope he quits coaching and shuts the fuck up for the rest of time considering he is constantly advocating for taking away people’s constitutional rights
Boatright was incredible. His shotmaking. Playmaking. Defense. The way he would LEVITATE for a rebound as a small guard. Him and Napier weren’t gonna be denied a title
This is why I love my huskies. This well coached Uconn squad was like a great football team with shutdown corners on defense and the forwards like defensive ends. Above everything else this Uconn team and many others before it were simply tough and gritty. They had a will to win and weren't going to be denied.
@@patrickbarry633 What an insanely stupid thing to try and start an argument over. Literally every fan refers to their favorite team as “my favorite team”.
If u look back at all 4 of UConn's national championships, their was always one key constant! An experienced and talented backcourt! First it was Hamilton and El-Amin, then Gordon and Brown, followed by Kemba and then finishing with Boatright and Napier! They proved the denominator over and over again of how crucial guard play is in winning an NCAA title! It cannot be understated!
Furthermore. They have a system. One large bruiser at center and one quick center. Always have capable backups. We are always deep even if we don't need to be. Our players are always (looking at you Solo Ball for improvement) unselfish.
Were you born a little slow or developed it later? You know nothing about hoops , couch guy talking like you an expert. Hilarious. Staying drinking beers and watching TV.
When Uconn has the best backcourt in the country, they win the title. This is true for all 6 chips. I am a firm believer that Kevin Ollie is the only guy that could take this team, in a crappy new conference and coming off a suspension year, to the promised land. Sure, he wasn't a great long term fit, but he was the perfect guy for this team, the only guy
@@marcisikoff average college players don't have 10+ year careers in the NBA. He was obviously an above average college basketball player. He inherited a group of guys with two borderline NBA players who never amounted to much in the league and solid role players during a year they were suspended from postseason play and got them all to buy-in for that season in preparation for their title run. He was very clearly connected with that group on a high level. They loved KO and played extremely hard for him. I stand by my take that KO is the only coach that takes that group to a title coming off the suspension year.
Whoever won this game was probably going to win the championship. I don’t think Kentucky could have beaten Florida they always say it’s hard to beat a team three times but this Florida team and apparently UConn were the two squads that their bully ball tactics wouldn’t work against. Patrick Young never backed down from Julius Randle
2011's run was amazing from 5 for 5 at the BET then 6 for 6 in the tourney, but the 2014 team was nastier. The 14' run went through everyone's favorite in every round, St. Mary's was a hot choice, Villanova was a #2, Iowa State was a premier team in the B12, MSU was everyone's Final Four pick, Florida had not lost in 30 games and was the country consensus #1, then beating the Squid. What a run and what attitude. BAZZ is a UCONN GOAT
2014 Florida actually had better records than 2006 and 2007 Florida title teams, but 2014 Florida didn't have the team chemistry and cohesion those 06 and 07 teams had..💺🏀📚

and I think in 2012 they had a lead late vs Louisville and blew it
@@ckludecke they choked vs butler the previous year as well

Florida was a very good team that year. UCONN lives for these big games though.
@@freakboy40Yep, UConn is money in the Final Four.
Thank you so much tcf15. I love rewatching the Huskies run to the title
I love watching the Huskies in final 4 games

UConn once again proved that superior guard play gives you a tremendous advantage. Napier and Boatwright set the pace - speed kills!
Man, I miss Steve Kerr. I hope he comes back to commentating when he's done coaching.

Uconn has excellent guards and bigs who clean the glass. Thats how you win 5 titles in 25 years

Never could bring myself to watch this back
I told everyone that Ollie wasn't a good coach. When he had to develop his own players it was proven
Chris Ludecke yea he won that title with Calhoun’s players and hasn’t done shit since
He recruited all these players so wtf u talking about u a dumm ass

sad that ollie lost this coaching spark after his personal life took a rough turn. here's hoping he finds it again in the nba
Kevin Ollie was a disgrace. Well worth every penny of that lawsuit not having him at UCONN any longer.
Still hurts 😢🐊
As a gator fan boy after that start I thought we were gonna down as an all time team
still heartbreaking to this day
lol dude as a UConn fan - LET ME TELL YOU ABOUT 2006
UConn fans, do you like the 2011 or 2014 championship team better?
Both equally
Same energy during both runs. Both incredible
2014: They were lower ranked and they were picked to lose against every team they played in the tournament. In 2011 they were a 2 seed.

Florida looked SO BAD after that initial hot start
I wish donovan would have stayed..........calipari wouldn't have stuggled winning any national championship if Billy had stayed at Florida
Well, Calipari won in 2012 when Donovan was still at Florida.
No titles ever since
