My mother would act coy when my father would pat her behind - horrified me at that time...My partner/husband of 26 years does similar things with me, and he does so in front of my mother! Respectful affection goes a long way in life, and teaches children that parents are people who fell in love, and "enjoyed" the process. Best

Amber's reaction was so sweet when she realized with the song really meant! Now it finally dawned on her that her dad saw her mom has the sexiest woman on the whole planet! He was singing his little Heeeey baaaaby song to her and making sure she knew how attractive he felt she was. That's so important for a woman to feel that, especially after having children. I'm sure that Amber knows this since she's a mother. I hope she doesn't feel embarrassed now that she's aware of what it means. She should feel happy and lucky and her parents was ACTUALLY SINGING PRAISES about their attraction to each other! When you think about it, that is pretty cool! XO 😃😏❤️🎵😎🤘

He said he fell asleep on the couch with the notepad on his lap. When he woke up, the words for Brick House were on the pad. While he was sleeping, his wife wrote it. This band was so good. Contemporaries with Earth,Wind, and Fire, and other great great groups. Positive message in their songs, super organized, fantastic tours, classic songs. But groups like this were also expensive from a producer point of view and producers found that it was cheaper to put a Rapper and a DJ on stage with a small light show, plus easier to tour. So all of the groups like this went away in favor of hiphop within a very few years. Glad to see you are looking back to appreciate some of these earlier bands and their amazing work.

Really enjoyed ya'll reacting to The Commodores! I attended Tuskegee with the Commodores and it was nothing to see them on The Yard or in the cafeteria. They were the house band at the Elks Lodge on Friday nights. And Tom Joyner, who became famous as the Fly Jock on syndicated radio attended also. He was the DJ in the cafeteria. It was a great time at 'Skegee'! Even met my future wife there. She's from Tuskegee and grew up knowing Lionel Richie, Ronald LaPread and Tom Joyner. They were all great guys. I asked Milan Williams years later how much they got paid for the gigs at the Elks Lodge and he said $23.00 for the whole group. And all the bear and fish sandwiches they wanted. Many have commented about playing more of their music and you really should. Thanks again for your reaction!

This was r&b as a category, but was also top 40, it was a huge hit. Walter sang the funky ones and Lionel Richie sang the ballads. After awhile, Lionel became bigger than the band and he went solo. Did a couple solo albums that were huge, then left the band and had even more success. Kind of like what happened with Rod Stewart when he was with Faces, he was bigger than the band and had to go solo

Slick Rick: He came up with Doug E. Fresh before going solo, so I would say it’s imperative to check out at least La Di Da Di by Doug E Fresh & Slick Rick, and The Show by them is also excellent. Slick Rick was the 3rd artist signed to Def Jam Records, after the Beastie Boys and LL Cool J. Solo songs I’d recommend are Children’s Story, The Ruler’s Back, and Mona Lisa.
Kool & The Gang: The main thing to know about them is their career basically has two different eras. Early on, from 1969-1978, they were largely an instrumental funk band. They had a few songs that members of the band would sing on, but they had no dedicated lead singer. Great songs from this era include Soul Vibrations, Dujii, Summer Madness, Funky Stuff, Jungle Boogie, and Hollywood Swinging, By 1978 their popularity had waned, so they changed things up, added a dedicated lead singer, and changed their sound to a more commercial pop sound and their popularity exploded. Songs from that era to check are Ladies Night, Get Down On It, Cherish, and Fresh. Everybody’s gonna recommend Celebration, but I’d be amazed if both of you haven’t already heard it, it’s been played at practically every sporting event the last 40 years when the home team wins.
