- After Hurricane Ian: What We Saw in Downtown Naples Florida
We visit Downtown Naples Florida five days after Hurricane Ian brought storm surge and destruction across the Florida Peninsula. Visit 5th Avenue South, the area near the Naples Pier and Gulf Beaches, as well as, 3rd Street South in Naples Florida. You'll see that we experienced in our first visit to Downtown Naples FL 'After Ian.'
There was a lot of water damage across the Downtown Area during the storm. Power has been out. In a number of places there is no internet. In spite of the great amount of clean-up and work needed, we see that business owners, the City of Naples, and members of the community are back in the City of Naples focused on clean up, restoration and getting businesses re-opened and getting people back to work. With all the efforts underway, there is resilience. There is hope.
And, there is still a lot of work to do. The Naples Pier is closed. While some businesses are open, other businesses and residents are working hard to move forward after significant losses. Please keep the people of SW Florida, including downtown Naples, in your thoughts and prayers. And if you have an opportunity to return to downtown Naples to support our local businesses, we're sure they'll greatly appreciate it! Thank you.

Naples is really beautifully .God bless all of you.🙌🌞🌊🏖
We are so happy to see this!
Southwest Florida you are in our prayers, we love you. You are Americans and the USA stands with you. Many have lost everything and our hearts are broken for you. Thank you for this video.
Great update.. love Marco Island hideaway Beach
So thrilled about the recovery. We are there for vacation every year end of february
Thank you for watching, and thank you for your support of Naples. People here are working hard day by day to put things back together as much as possible. Hopefully you'll see a lot of the progress if you visit here again during the winter.
So great to see the activity in Downtown Naples so soon. Glad you both are well and already back to creating great videos of beautiful Naples.
This gives hope. Thanks
Thanks is very beautiful video seeing that things are getting better
Awesome!
My parents live in south Naples and had no damage or flooding to their house. Their power was out for 6 days, but was recently restored.
That's a miracle maybe they are Christians and need to thank Jesus for saving their property.🙏
Skip, that is wonderful to hear. I hope their power stays on and that they are doing well. It's such a varied experience, depending on where people live/work. Thank you for sharing your family's experience so far. I hope they stay safe and well.

I love Naples ❤💖💖💖
Thanks for posting. I was watching the Naples Pier webcam during Ian until the webcam shut down. Good to see you all will be okay.
Please keep the people of SW Florida in your thoughts. Sometimes it was just luck, and sometimes location, that made a significant difference in the outcome from this Hurricane. There is a lot of devastation, while there are also areas that have damage that can be repaired & it's being worked on diligently - - with a lot of support.
It’s amazing what good shape Naples is still in. Fort Myers and Sanibel are devastated and flattened with a loss of lives and people lost their homes to Ian. I hope the people there appreciate what they have. Naples is beautiful.
This has been a horrible storm and the impacts are so devastating. The differences across a few blocks can be big differences. What is heartening is to see the hard work of so many people to work on recovery for themselves and their neighbors. The commitment to rebuild is strong.
Good job
What a charming city.
Thanks for the video ... We were just there a few weeks ago on a Vacation from Carlsbad, California.... Good to see things are on the mend :)
the difference between naples and fort myers . the difference was the onshore wind direction . naples came from the south over land . and fort myers was an onshore wind . raising the tide level .
Mangroves don’t grow directly on the beach. The roots have to be submerged in water. Usually found in coastal areas. Those look like sea grapes.
Thank you very much for this video . I came back to 5 avenue 3 days later after hurricane. It is my favorite street to walk . I was happy to found out that it is in very good shape. It was lucky compare to Gulf Shore boulevard. Why ? I think the main reason is that beach in Naples is low . Every street has stairs to the beach . On Gulf Shore boulevard beach and houses are on one level .
Thank you for your feedback. I'm glad you were able to return to 5th Ave S. several days after the storm. It's encouraging to have members of the community share the steps of the city's recovery and support our neighbors who are trying to re-establish their businesses downtown. Be well!
My parents used to live there. They are both gone now. They’d be so upset if they were here. 💔
Gorgeous palmtrees so resiliant. Florida so much more beautiful than Canada.
Thank you for the updates. See you in December God Bless
❤❤❤
Area must not have been hit that bad! Restoration other places not quite as well! Ritzy area
Delmar is now open for dinner?
Hi Shaloma - when we were downtown a few days ago, there was a sign on Delmar's front door saying they were opening at 4pm for dinner. They have a Facebook post from October 5th that says they're open for dinner & would honor prior reservations and take Walk-ins. . . on Oct 5th when they posted to Facebook, they didn't have phone service or internet. Their website appears to be taking reservations through Open Table . . .I don't know if the phone service has been restored yet.
Had the sea turtles already hatched?
Government goons with second homes, snow birds and their New Years Eve parties is the big question - what about the good restaurants, who will cook and clean up after their party? Pensions and investments holding out so far - Kensington, Pa - not so much
Huh?
I’m wondering if property value now will be effected? What’s your take on this. Thx from south jersey
O Povo americano se refaz muito rápido, e já está reoorganizando tudo devagarinho, parabéns!
Sandy sheets!
Sorry but I don’t seem much to cleanup
Your walking through a ghost town to prove it's coming back works better on the radio. The visuals show no business. Are we to believe the homeless residents are out for expensive lunches and ice cream? Good luck rebuilding in a swamp that should have been left a swamp.
Inside the high end gated communities is another story. Bay colony flooded and Rolls Royce were floating around. What about the working class that serves this wealthy city? Where do they go? We don't have second homes and investment money, but they'll want us back to work again for low wages so they can have their cappuccinos on time.
You will be surprised but there are a lot of people in Bice restaurant on 5 avenue and also at Bravo in Mercato . Full of people.
Yes, it’s terrible down here, one big swamp and nothing to do. It’s probably best you stay far away, the ice cream is too expensive anyway. Thankfully Florida isn’t for everyone, like you.
Pitching your realty ???? Really ????
Naples hasn’t been affected at all, great
Even Ian couldn't wash the boojee out of this place
😂😂
Snow Birds beg to come and support "their" community - so they can eat drink and be merry - pensions continue to roll in.
Huh?
Those 5G towers....:(((
