His accent is pretty spot on. We have very strict quarantine laws, yes it is to protect our unique eco system, we are also the only country that doesn't have rabies, again due to our quarantine laws.

We don’t have rabies but we do have lyssavirus which is closely related to rabies and is carried but fruit bats. I was doing a relocation program for them, got scratched had to go through 6 weeks of post exposure injections.

I think the only thing that would improve his Aussie imitation, is replace "mate" with "cunt"😅

I'm an Aussie and I hear some South Africans on YT and sometimes their pronunciation of words sounds Australian. Elocution experts who teach in the film business state that the Aussie accent is the hardest to copy/mimic .As well as into the country, we also have strict quarantine laws between some states in Oz.

G'day mate, I've never heard of Trevor Noah, but he was great. His Aussie accent was so good, he actually sounded like an Aussie when he was putting on the accent. Thanks for sharing.

He was a late night tv host on US tv for a number of years. Sharp, inciteful and a bit too satirical for Americans.

Our bio-security for animals and plants is very VERY strict for reasons. We have an ecosystem that's not replicated anywhere else in the world. We REALLY don't want to screw it up more than we already have with more diseases and pests/parasites.

Trevor is hilarious. I think the Australian accent is tricky to imitate authentically but he's bang on. ☮️

Australia doesn't have many of the diseases that rest of the world does and we need to protect our agriculture and environment.

Usual answer for “How you going?” is, “Aw, not too bad.” As an option you can add, “What about yerself?”
If you come over, answer the questions on the entry card honestly. They will let a lot of things through but want to check. Fyi, one question is “Do you have any food?” Even a chocolate bar is food.

Australia is extremely protected from overseas fruit bugs and diseases. If foreign bugs and diseases make their way into our community it can totally wipe out the farming community. And we tend to look after our own - our farmers work so hard and it's already a hard enough lifestyle for them with the constant droughts and floods. So - people can laugh all they want - but it could totally wipe out farms that have been in families for generations and leave people without an income. So fair call that border control is so strict! I'd say that most Australian's agree with it

When you come to Australia, Kabir, just don't bring perishables with you. If you do, then declare everything, even if you think you'll be fine. I also had some souvenirs confiscated, one was a book with paper made from elephant dung from Thailand. Sounds disgusting but it was completed odour free and looked and felt exactly like normal paper. I have even seen people told to take shoes out that had dirt on them and have them cleaned. It's true, it is pretty full on, but something we are just used to.

Sout Australia (and possibly other states) have very strict quarantine rules even for domestic travel. Basically there's potentially bugs in fruit (in SA it's fruitfly) that don't occur in certain regions and so if there's a risk an interstate fruit will bring it in, they're often banned. As you get close to the SA border (especially near the Riverland) there are bins to dispose of interstate fruit, and there's checking stations at the border that will pull cars and buses in and search them. I think NSW is similarly strict about the Riverina District around Griffith/Leeton/Narrandera, and Vic has the Sunraysia District around Mildura - and probably up to SA's Riverland. I'd imagine QLD has exclusion zones, although the fruit from QLD tends to be more tropical (Banana, Papaya, Mango) and not sure they're as susceptible to the same pests....

His initial Aussie accent attempt started out well, but became more British as he went on. Still, at least he didn't make us sound Cockney. So many Brits and Americans do!

How are you going means how are you travelling through life? Are you moving through life well not so well.?are you OK? Do you need anything? This questions covers all that. You can answer it in anyway you need to and an Aussie will listen and help if they can.

That reminded me of a trip to Tasmania from Melbourne on the Spirit of Tasmania. We were all told to line up and a dog walked along the line sniffing everyone, and I thought it was a drug dog - but nope - he was sniffing out fruit! A lady had an apple in her bag and was made to bin it.

only reason he left Daily Show was because nobody cares about Late Night TV anymore, and those that do... well? they just brain dead for watching it too long. That and nobody is writing for them anymore because of the writers strike (suppose thats a good thing since the late night shows had garbage writing anyway)
