Glad it was nothing serious. I have the same situation. I took the Accel wires off my 2000 Z28 and put them on an 04 C5 I recently purchased. Both Ls1 so the wires swap over. It had the wires you just bought but they were old. I didnt do the plugs because there are two on the Camaro that are very hard to get to. Theyre so easy on the C5 I dont mind doing it twice. The plugs are a must also. I might try to do them this weekend. Dont forget to do yours, even though its running good now. Good vid, thanks.

Just from your dash oil pressure sensor may not be working. It sat at 80 psi the whole time. Not necessarily bad oil ressure C5 are known for the sensor going bad quickly!!

On both my C5 and a new Mopar (Jeep) I had EVAP code both times solved by just putting a little vaseline on the gas cap gasket. On the Jeep I even tried a cheap parts store version which re-triggered the code. Put the original on with the Vaseline, reset, added 1/4 tank to bring pressure back and light has gone out and stayed out.
With now 6 cars in my garage, I've made an annual ritual of the vaseline on the caps with no side effect issues ... barring a buddy or two making a bad joke about having vaseline in the garage. ;)

    How to Pull Codes:
    1. Turn your key to the "ON" position, but do not start the engine.
    2. Clear any present messages by pressing the RESET button.
    3. Hold the OPTIONS button down, and press the FUEL button 4 times. (This will get you into the "codes" section of the DIC.
    4. The computer will automatically display all the codes your car has created. It will cycle through each code every 3 seconds. (Have a pen and paper handy to write down the codes)
Note: Any code that ends in an "H" is a historic code (something that has occurred in the past, but is not reporting as an error currently.)
H = history (may be a solved or intermittent malfunction)
    C = current active codes
    5. Once the computer has finished going through all of its codes, press RESET to enter Manual Configuration mode. It should start with a module and show "NO CODES" or "# Codes."
    6. To optionally reset codes once in manual mode, press and hold RESET until is displays "NO CODES."
    7. Press OPTIONS to go into the next module (ie, from PCM, or Powertrain Control Module, to TCS, or Traction Control System.)
    8. Repeat Step 6 until you have reset all the codes in all the computer modules.
Note: Only reset the codes if you want to, it is not necessary to reset them every time you pull the codes.
    9. To exit the diagnostics mode at any time push "E/M" button, or simply take your key out of the ignition.
Note: Manual mode can be entered at any time during the automatic sequence by pressing any button except "E/M"
Once the DIC displays "manual diagnostics", you may select a particular module by pressing "options" button to go forward or "trip" button to go backwards
Once a module is displayed and has codes for review, you may view the codes individually by pressing "gauges" button to go forward and "fuel" button to go backwards (to review at your own pace and write down)
Hope that helps. Easy to check anywhere on the road without having to plug in a module.
Glad the Vette is pulling strong again 👍

I guess I've officially crossed into "Old Fart" status; nearing 50! Growing up, I was changing wires in my cars at least once every couple of years. Yeah, there was ALWAYS an appreciable difference in the horsepower and idle smoothness. I also had the fun of the 400 CID (in my Chrysler) and 500 CID (in my Caddy) where I had to match up the eight different length spark plug wires. I once spent the day tuning up my Chrysler with the 400 and went for a ride with really high hopes. Rode like a dog. Dashed, I trudged on, determined to upgrade my carb or do headers or something. I ran out of gas far from my "usual" crap Delta station and had to get Sunoco. WOW! It was like I had a WHOLE new engine under the hood. Bottom line...plugs, wires, filters and lubricants are all important...and always get the best (you can afford...LOL) but don't forget to NOT skimp out on gas. My 2004 C5 and my Benz ONLY use Premium...and ONLY high marque gas brands.

Gasoline brand make a huge difference in performance. I use strictly 'Shell premium gasoline' and it makes a vast difference in my corvette. I was stuck out of town at a car show and had to use an off brand the difference is quite noticeable. So, in conclusion I do agree, however, some people do not, and contend it's all the same gas, it's not.

Hub, so I’m looking for my first Vette. Just got out of my fourth Stang. Just got into a new home, so decided to not do a new Stang, seeing that I’d be looking at a minimum of about 37 grand. A C5 is still a contender, and still looks and sounds like sex. I’ll find one a bit lower mileage than yours, budget is around 20 grand, maybe a bit more. Manual preferably, love the Z06 but want an open top such as your targa or a vert. Prices seem to be great out there, and a nice top end package and exhaust will round it out. Subscribed to check out how you brought yours up with modern amenities such as the LED’s, routine maintenance, etc.

The evap is probably the rear EGR check valve tripping the code. You have to remove the intake manifold to get to it. Sometimes a cleaning of the check valve clears code but why not just replace since the maintenance level is high.

Beware the needle bearings that the valve rockers ride. They tend to shatter from aggressive revs over time. The pieces end up floating around and into an oil circ screen. It'll catch them and prevent serious damage to the motor if they weren't. LS1 & early LS2 motors have them

You can use a phone to look up the meaning of the code but you can also clear many of them via the DIC. This will clear many CELs without too much trouble.

Nice that it was only wires, my luck would be a head gasket, coil pack or something stupid

you didn't have to tune your car? or did this issue happen after tuning? I'd assume your issue is a lack of tune if you hadn't done so already but i haven't finished the video yet

awesome so the wires worked but still no tune needed at all of any type? I ask becoz it's summer and i was thinking of putting some long tube headers on mine catless and i can't decide if i should tune it or not and if so then what type of tune.

Nice video. Question, is that your DNA on the door handle? Busted knuckles and a job well done minus not doing the plugs. Doh! More busted knuckles to come. 😂

The plugs can loose tips over 50k miles so think about 5ok..(250k in ks Corvettes experience)

Why change plugs if you don't need them? Also, you should have found the bad wire before changing all 8. An ohm meter would tell you. Try to understand the mechanics behind what you are doing, don't just throw parts at the car and think you're a mechanic.

I was kicked in the butt by buying a 2000 Corvette (35 K mi) while the transmission fluid seepage from the rear diff had metal shavings in it. I got my $17 K back, and the dealer flat bed his 2000 Corvette back 100 miles to Illinois. So, I still want a Corvette, and am looking at a 2003 50th Anniversary edition.(49 K mi) Ready to pull the trigger so I have it inspected. ($107.49) Fluid seepage from Trans pan, fluid coming from rear diff (different car) same problem, oil seepage from timing cover, and all 4 shocks leaking Hydraulic fluid. Dealer says - no PROBLEM! and will NOT fix anything. I RAN, and kept running away from a "Corvette". I am SO, SO HAPPY with my new 2007 SATURN SKY convertible with 4000 miles.... C-YA!

Corvettes already have a computer. You should look up how to erase codes.
