The Frieza commercial is an absolute gem
that unique art style really makes the commercial feel like its own project. it grabs attention like a commercial should, but its probably a little too intense for a whole movie or series.
It's honestly a fun break stylistic break, especially in that era of Dragon Ball
Only this channel took a 15 second commercial and made it into a near 7 minute video
I love how vegeta's like "I'm not dancing with you clowns", then he opens his eyes and is like "Wait, you're just training? And dare leave me out???"

I first saw it as a gif somewhere and thought it was just put together for the gif to look like dancing, and whatever it came from was a normal short DB fan video. Now knowing that it was supposed to be this way, and it was an actual commercial... it just killed my neurons.

Now that u mention questionable commercial I remember the greatest anime ad there ever was, that somewhat recent One Piece add about noodles, its just so good
I remember getting this commercial on my recommended back in 2015, thinking wtf
3:18 The phrase in question is "僕の絵心の師匠", which can be literally translated to 'my artistic master'. But I'd say a more natural translation would be "my greatest artistic inspiration", or to be more idiomatic, "(person who sparked) my interest in art", mostly just because the word "絵心" doesn't really mean "artistic" in the same way it does in English, it more refers to your aptitude for art, or your taste in art, or more generally, a desire to paint or create art. The Google version gets the point across well enough, but I figured I'd weigh in with a bit of context.
I loved the look of those commercials, especially the Freeza one. Geekdom 101 shows clips of the Freeza commercial sometimes as like, stock animation/footage while he's talking about something Freeza-related.
The dark shading can really work if only it was placed better. Some really interesting stuff

I like to think of this ad as in-universe. Everyone except the kids were chosen to be in a soda commercial, and Frieza suddenly crashed the set and got down.

TNM did a video on these and damn they are amazing that mets ad is better animated than most of Super when it first aired and it’s a fantastic ad especially how Vegeta joins in and Freeza’s crew join him
I only just saw the TNM vid when doing the research for this haha. With its animation it's kinda a given that it will be better, considering these ads were a mere 30 seconds compared to a 20+ minute episode :)
@@forgottenrelics1197 yes I agree I remember watching TNM's video a few years back and it was the weirdest video i've ever seen regardless it was through that video I discovered this amazing Mets ad. Although he doesn't have the db artstyle it's still amazing he managed to make a cool smooth animation they should definitely call him for future db projects

The Mets commercial just looks so out of place in Dragon Ball yet fits so well, mixing dance and martial arts. The animation does an awesome job being expressive and funny with how the characters move.

I've always tought Yoshitaka Yashima did the animation fot this commercial. The pointy style reminded me a lot of him, especially the noses
I rarely find it within myself to be critical when animators with tons of talent put forth great effort to make unique, fluid shots such as these.

@@forgottenrelics1197 I don't deny that. Back in the days watching DBZ for the first time, I always wondered why the quality differs in-between episodes. Today we know why. In terms of Super the characters look like plastic and rounded versions of their original counterparts. And by the time the animation style isn't good, it looks like drawn by third graders.

Honestly Japan nails it with their commercials from what I've seen atleast, they're always so attention grabbing. American commercials are boring and bland and the ones that try to be funny just come off as forced and are pretty cringeworthy at times lol.
