CO² is not any more humane, nitrogen would be though. Respiratory creatures don't actually sense oxygen deprivation, they sense CO² concentration. Gassing with CO² would have the same sensation of being smothered. Nitrogen, however, is an inert gas, and would not raise the concentration of CO² in relation to O², so it would be undetectable and far more humane.

Might not work with this exact trap as the spinning flaps would act as a fan and push oxygenated air into the chamber over time. You'd have to have a CO2 tank with a timer-based regulator. Still doable but wouldn't make sense cost-wise.

Free shark tank idea. A live trap that has two electric leads/connections that would allow you to release native species and ohhh even better a spot to put a power tool battery if they make something powerful enough. Then you have the option to release or electrocute them. I think that would be a marketable product. A metal cage shaped as a bucket with a rubber base that could take the existing lid traps would work too. Ok A rubber lined bucket with a metal cage inside with a dunker lid with a little viewing window with the electric leads as an option.

I guess if you live in Europe and have a pet reptile, set it up so the mouse drops down to it. The reptile would like that.

I don’t think feeding wild mice is recommended to pets because of the possibility of diseases.

@@angiemcpeek3530 And, living mice have self defense called claws and teeth, and will use them. Nobody wants their reptile injured and unfortunately your domestically raised captive reptile is not the apex predator of your imagination.

No disrespect to England the rest of Europe. But honestly you would think they would care less about rodents after their cities and towns have been flooded with them. Not to mention that rodents won’t really go extinct for centuries due to their high breeding amount.

we had a mouse plague and it was terrifying. I made up 40 (fourty!) bucket / rolling log traps and they worked well. I set up cameras to fine tune the design and here is the thing: The mice watched their comrades paddling for their life or had become floaties already. They happily joined them lured by a bit of peanutbutter, they did not care...so why should I?
