What Marvel Studios need to do is exactly what they did with the early Captain America movies. Give it the "Capt. America: The Winter Soldier" treatment. Make it more gritty, rigid, and vital. Like people can die in that shit and stuff. They can take a page from Donnie Yen's "Flash Point" movie.

In the phone video game 'Marvel Strike Force' Shang Chi is partnered with Heroes for Hire team; Ironfist, Luke Cage, Misty and Coleen Wing. Also with Daredevil & Jessica Jones. I wonder if they could somehow bring them back and include Shang Chi into a series. Maybe they could of included some of these characters into the movie part 2? I think Andrew mentioned that Ironfist might be...hmmmm

If I was a show runner of a Heroes for Hire series, I would 100% bring back these four characters from the Marvel/Netflix shows. Additionally, Shang-Chi would eventually be a part of the crew and the main antagonists would be The Ten Rings, led by his sister Xu Xialing. It's a way to continue their stories while also being interconnected with the larger MCU.

You guys said, "We haven't seen Shang-Chi in any Marvel movies since Shang-Chi came out," but this could literally be said about any MCU character since Phase 4. Since Phase 4 started, I believe the only characters we've seen in multiple movies were Dr. Strange, he was in No Way Home & his own movie Multiverse of Madness. Also, the Guardians of the Galaxy, they were in Thor & their own movie. And aside from their own movie, they were just cameos in the other movies.
I was so happy when the first Shang-Chi came out, because of what it meant for us Asians, I went to go see it opening day. Theaters were quite empty though, but as you guys mentioned that was when theaters just opened & things were getting back to normal. I believe Shang-Chi was the biggest film that year until Spiderman: No Way Home came out, which that's an accomplishment for Shang-Chi, of course it wasn't going to beat a Spiderman film. I do want a Shang-Chi 2 as well, but I DO NOT want them to rush a script, just because of the pressure from the fan feedback & people wanting it asap. Let them do their thing first, don't rush it just to please angry fans. The MCU has been all over the place in phase 4, they really need to find their footing at the moment, & Deadpool/Wolverine could possibly bring them back.

As a comic book reader for 30 years. Shan-Chi is a less knowing superhero, nor popular. In the comic universe Marvel or DC, there are hardly any Asian superhero but if it did, they are usually a background character. I think the superhero genre overstayed their welcome. Simu should walk away while his reputation is intact.

If the MCU low-key did presume Shang Chi would be a one-off thing since there wasn't much incorporation of other Marvel characters other than Wong & now they have to drastically pivot and finagle their storyline due to box office bombs as well as the erasure of Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror, who they indeed plan and feature multiple movies around, which had absolutely no connection with Simu Liu or Shang Chi......the irony there would be delicious.

Not integrating Shangchi into other Marvel projects gave space in Simu's schedule and contracts (and Nora's too) for other projects which helped his name recognition and so when the sequel comes out the movie and marketing will be better due to developed performance and on-screen talent and recognizable names. Then bring in some babyface Amadeus Cho and an old school Chinese/HK film star for Mr. Negative and you've got another Disney film for the Asians.

Please no. Much like a majority of Phase 4, the movies were just awful. And honestly, there's nothing that actually stands out about the Shang Chi movie because Marvel can't get their S-H together. Marvel needs to take a break and map out what it actually wants to do because Phase 4 had everything from alien spies to multiverse magic and everything in between.

While I do think that Shang Chi was mid, most Westerners aren't going to care if it's not a Western production.
E.g. plenty of great Japanese shows out there, especially taiga dramas, that would put Shogun to shame, but they've only watched Shogun.
Same goes for Westerners' attitude towards a lot of Asian content, even though Asian content has long surpassed Hollywood in most areas.

People are getting tire of super hero films, especially films from Marvel. Disney has saturated too much of their Marvel contents and many people don't care about it anymore. I was into many of their movies and TV shows but I'm done with Marvel now. Look at the market too, many big budgets super hero films were flops including Ant-Man 3 and Aquaman 2.
