I grown up in 80's in a small town in China, called ZhongGuan Village, when China was poor (it is still poor in my opinion because I have high expectation for my country). I did admire American and European life style and richness when I was a kid, and I acknowledge that the US is the most powerful dominant country in the world. I am totally fine and indifferent letting the US or any country be the No. 1.
But the point is, I never feel shameful or bothered about "we are poor now or we are no longer No.1". I never thought about this No.1 issue. I know a little about Chinese history, and I know our goal and our historical position in this world. The history of our civilization and culture give me confidence and a peace of mind. I will just do my part of work, be a decent civilized individual, as best as a Chinese can do, then our nation will be what it supposed to be, I don't care who is the No. 1, and everyone in this world deserve a better life, that's for sure.

Kishore is a gentleman who says things logically but very tenderly and try not to offend. But I will retranslate.
Because the West fails to confront the fact that just because you are born white, you do not earn the right of superiority. If the West fails to confront the superiority mentality, they will see the rise of China as a Yellow Peril of 12 Century. The worst mental block comes from the Angelo Saxon nations. If the mental block continues, it will lead to war. Kishore and other like minded scholars such as Martin Jacques are trying their best to avert the catastrophic event by talking to the wall.

I have seen various aspects of the very old chinese cultures and intellectual systems. Would it not be a useful thought that there is a form of Chinese pluralism all of which happens "under the heaven" and is utterly complex, and that further thoughtful increase of such pluralism would create a buffer zone, where the adverse western minds can cool down and walk millions of miles, exhausting their crave of superiority?
The Western mind is curious and nosy. If it becomes interested enough, it will walk a million exciting paths. To create this effect, soft power is required.
But the powers of supremacy cannot be other than centrist. They will have to enforce their centrism on their own minds, that became aware of an exciting, diverse and multipolar world.
This will become a very interesting contradiction.

@@neovxr Thoughts on utopia is interesting. However the world is not flat from the Western point of view. Freedom Democracy and Equality are all sugar coatings to the human weakness. G7 AUKUS and the Five Eye Nations are all about the color of White.

@@estchu You are right, it exists, but a remarkable number of "white" people do not want it, or never wanted that, and they do not believe that they are "owned" by their race or nation and by their elites as if they were cattle.
Many leaders and journalists are riding on the vehicle of race (today more in the culturalist way), but at the same time hide behind idealist preachings.
One of the contradictions the West is crashing into, exists right within the "judeo-christian" paradigm, that had been used also as a colonial tool box, including domestic colonization of their own. But with what is happening in Ukraine, I am expecting a major falling-out. Remember history, it was among allegedly white ethnicities.
i am supporting a multipolar world. I want to reveal that the "West-Supremacy" full with hypocritic preachings of equality and rule based order, is on its way to fall back into White Supremacy. This insight is important and has aspects that are not trivial. It helps to deconstruct the official rationale. It is not even understood by most Westerners.

Russia should thank Europe for financing Russia in Ukraine war. USA should also thank Europe for supporting USA to instigate Ukraine war by repeatedly reneging on its promise over 30 years not to expand Nato eastward to threaten Russia.
Though Europe is picking up all the major bills, all the benefits go to Russia and USA. Unless Europe start developing its own mind. Cheers.

I really don't understand at all. What power is it that is going to be shared and why are we going to share it and with whom? I don't live in China I live in the US so I'm not really understanding this idea of power sharing. Is the professor suggesting we should cede our power to the UN? That's a silly idea.

Mahbubani is a bit optimistic on Thucydides trap. I wish his prediction on Sino-U. S. relation is right.

@Akin Khoo "There's unlikely a war between the two biggest economy." That's why I said Mahbubani is optimistic. I think there will be a war between China and the US !

China is fed up because their IP theft for 3 decades will be ending significantly under Trump. They have been copying and copying and getting American greedy oligarchs to use their resources and slave wage peasants to build at Low cost.
Now America finally no longer has globalist boot licker Politicians who will do the will of these so called global institutions, these American self serving Politicians are no longer selling out America for China's gain.
What is shocking to me that what America is doing is considered wrong by all these think tanks. When merely they are saying, hold on, let me stop cutting my own nose to spite my face. It is not up to global bodies to decide what other citizens want from their election of their leaders. Do these think tanks have no respect? Why are they lecturing peoples around the world and tell them what to do? They live in Ivory towers and work for their lobbyists and sponsors
