Great video, Jaremy!!!
Thanks!
I was just thinking again yesterday about changing from RTI to Control4. Might sell all of my RTI processors and remotes and go make the jump over. good video
If you just want to control the theater, snag that smallest Core package plus a Halo touch. I'm sure you'll like it.
@@Techthusiasm It would be theater and living room. I was considering the lite since it can technically do 2 rooms, but the amount of controllable devices I can see hitting the limit on quickly so leaning towards a Core 1 or Core 3. Plus POE is nice to have on those. I just need to figure out if each addressable IP is a "device" such as LIFX smart lights, etc. If so I will probably go with the 3 since I have a feeling once I start getting items added to it the device count will go up quickly. I would think it's based on the driver but not sure.
What I did with RTI was had two XP3 processors one for theater and one for living room. If I make the switch I'll just do one controller and two remotes.
Thanks for the video Jaremy, really helpful! Apologies if you mentioned it another video but which control4 controller do you use? Also, I watched a bit of a Control$ you had with your dealer, do you know if he sells\ships to New Jersey? I would like it setup similar to the way you do, and pay to have access to the editing software. I spent a lot of time programming my old Philips Pronto\Pro so am probably familiar with the general approach to it and would like to have that level of flexibility and customization again. Thanks! - John
I have an EA5. One generation older than the current models. Reach out to me at techthusiasm_jp@outlook.com, and I can give you contact info for folks.
Thanks for another great video. I have several of the non touch halo’s. They have been rock solid for over a year. Once 1.8.3.001746 uploaded it drops connection and reconnects every one to four minutes. I have a very stable UNIFI network. I am not having issues with any other devices on the network. The remotes are now on their own SSID and the issue persists. Have you experienced this? Thoughts?
Mine have been pretty stable, although last night my C4 controller required a hard restart. The latest firmware has been running stable still.
I'm still using my Pronto TSU9400 (I have a software development background so I've been able to keep the Pronto relevant via JavaScript programming and using its IP and RS232 capability). I've been thinking about going to the Control4 but there's little deep info online about how the Halo Touch user interface looks for the various devices that I use. A future video would be nice that shows how the Halo Touch's user interfaces look for: Apple TV, AVR/processor, JVC projector, madVR Envy, and Kaleidescape. You had great videos for the non-touch version. It would be nice to see what the user interfaces for these devices look like in the touch interface (at least the default interfaces provided by the 3rd party drivers, and what kind of customization can be made with the Control4 software). I'm also hoping there's a way to do IP programming or at a minimum a way to send http GET commands so I can send the commands to home automation hubs like HomeSeer and Home Assistant. Or HomeKit, but don't think the Halo can deal with HomeKit directly.
Thanks! Check back on the channel for some former Control4 and Halo content. I have old videos that should fit your request.
Any experience with the control4 lite and halo? Seems like it would be a really good solution for single room living room/theater.
Should work perfect. I don't think it matter what controller the Halo connects to as the experience is the same. That would be a perfect one room system control.
Hi, does the end user setup let you copy over custom buttons? Like I have 1 to charge the zoom in my PJ on my current C4 controller. Thanks.
You can program the custom buttons actions as an end user, yes.
Have you tried the new AVA Theater remote?
I have not.
@@Techthusiasm I believe control 4 has a law suit against th em
Jaremy always rocks!!
Thanks!
Hi where can I find the clock or watch behind you 😊
It was a gift from a channel member, actually. Pretty cool. We have it set to LEGO numbers. :)
Im considering control 4 does it have a tablet app? I like using the tablet to control everything currently using harmony still on the app
The Control4 mobile apps run on phone, tablet, and even on MacOS too. Same app. It works very well.
@@Techthusiasm thank you. Yeah might get the one room core version 👍🏻
Reach out to me at techthusiasm_jp@outlook.com, and I can give you contact info for folks to quote a setup.
@@Techthusiasm just screen shot this. Will def do. Thank you
Tired of dealing with harmony remote and asked a dealer about control 4 his price was 4k. Is control 4 usually that expensive or I need to get another price?
Control4 will be specific to your exact system and requirements, so the price will be a function of that. There are certainly simple systems that cost much less than 4K to get started.
What all were you looking to control specifically? I can give you some ballparks.
@@AudioVisionInc I have Sony 665, Anthem AVM70, Lumagen, Stewart horizontal masking screen, Oppo and Apple TV.
AudioVisionInc is Dan from a variety of channel videos. He can take care of you.
@@AudioVisionInc how do I message you?
Contact me at techthusiasm_jp@outlook.com.
How is your Siri voice holding up mine is iffy
I had mine drop out a bit, but it's been stable for a while.
@@Techthusiasm I find I need to switch to one AppleTV then back and it will pick back up. Or wait a few minutes and it will pick back up
Are you a C4 dealer?
No. I can help folks program their systems. I have good referrals for dealers though if you need one. Reach out to me at techthusiasm_jp@outlook.com, and I can give you contact info for folks.
Oh, I am one was just wondering.
Looks like a old school cell phone 😂
I’m using Roomie Remote for my Home Theater. Much cheaper than C4 & RTI but the developers are arrogant a$$es and not always very helpful.
