My local charcoal chicken shop had this machine back in the day. The antics of the Leather Men soon made it delightfully infamous.
And the dogs, pulpfiction dogs
Played hundreds of arcade machines in the 80s n 90s, but didn't remember playing this one.
I was flicking through my pandora saga console earlier and found this. It's absolutely fantastic. I lost quite a few lives but completed it in no time.
It's definitely going on my list of top 10 beat em ups.👍
I like how even the baddies can be hurt in explosions. Nice touch that.
I am almost fifty years old and are still finding beat em ups from teh 90's I did not knw!
I remember, somewhere during the 90s, I was sick at home but knew about a carnaval in a village nearby. This particular carnaval (or 'kermis' as it is called in the Netherlands) always had the latest arcade games. I jumped on my bike, cycled 10 kilometres, ignored all other attractions and arrived at the arcade. It was there that I discovered 'Vendetta'. Left the arcade with NO money :-)

This game was one of the inspirations for our latest project Skinny & Franko: Fists Of Violence. Vendetta for me personally one of the best beat em ups of the 90s era.
The fact that someone made a sequel to Franko is mind blowing. IDK what it is but there's a certain juvenile charm to Franko.

I would love a beat em up that has every fighter from every a beat em up game ever. Like start off in genaric first level. Second level is from Double Dragon. Third is Streets of Rage. Final Fight, Guntlet , BattleToads, ect

There sure are a lot of stock sound effects for enemy death cries in this game. Surprised they didn't use the Wilhelm Scream.
I'd always played Vendetta in the arcade and then one day my friend came up to me and told me about the leathermen. I told him to stop lying. I then played the version down at the fish and chip shop near him and oh boy...
Who or what are the leathermen?
@@tuxysmagicaljukebox5431 In gay culture, leathermen are usually hyper-masculine men dressed in all leather. If you're old enough to know of the musical group 'the Village People', one of them is a leatherman.
In the actual game however, they have a habit of mincing around and groping you (to say the least) if they get close. There's no way that would fly now.

Man, for as many times as I played through this game I've never seen those leather dudes humping people/objects before! Crazy. I guess I always killed them before they got too close, lol. Rainbow Reich would definitely love those guys.

This is the canon backstory for Jeffrey Dexter Boomhauer III aka Boomhauer. Before he settled into Arlen, he was known as "Boomer" and got into street fights as a Cobra member. He later retired from this life and found true friendship with his alley buddies, but he sometimes wonders about what his old gang friends are up to.

What's the difference between the uncensored and the others, i never played this, i hate censorship I'll have to find the uncensored version.
Last time I played, I kept on gaining extra lives somehow, it seemed as if as I racked up points, my lives increased exponentially until I had over 40 lives. But it doesn't seem to happen every time I play the game. Anyone else know what I'm talking about here?
4 players version increases lives when you put credits
a common software copy protection in arcades is to mess with the profits of the operator. (yes, piracy as in "bootleg arcade boards" was very common)
the arcade rom misbehaves in the billing of the players when it detects the board has been tampered with, often "giving incentives to play without paying much if anything at all"
think of that as "the developers trolling arcade owners that pirated their products".
If you had this effect on a emulator, it is likely that the protection was not properly emulated, and the rom "figured out" it is not running on the original, unmodified hardware.
other less harmful manners those games behaved when pirated was missing sound and/or deliberate graphical glitches. (copy protection chip was often related to sound or graphics)
maybe the coin mech was broken, AFAIK this game doesnt give you lives out of points
@ i didnt know this board had such protection, the only copy protection i found in konami boards was a special gfx decription chip, if missing, some gfx would not show or appear garbled, is found in tmnt2, sunset riders and violent storm to my knowledge
