🤔 I would have cut the wire and ran them through the hole then splice and shrink tape them back together in the control cavity.
Wow that was insane, was not expecting the hardcore guitar-surgery😂
I built a Es335 style guitar and can say I am extremely pleased with these, Though I paid a lot more on Amazon to be sure I got the real thing . Just a tip for anyone installing these , have a soldering Iron handy as the wires on the pods may come loose and if your putting them in a Es335 style guitar you will need to replace the black ground with a longer one. Just a side note I lost the pod bolts so I had to buy replacements, the correct size is 24mm Large Metric . All and all the probuckers sound absolutely amazing
Yeah that's a nice, clean looking install man.
Those pots look like they're built really well!
You can also usually fish those through with a thin gauge wire.
I just installed the same set in a 335 copy and had the same issue with the plug not fitting through the hole. I just snipped the wires and soldered them back up. All that drilling on the body made me cringe!
I love modding guitars, but I can't stand soldering. GFS Kwik-Plug pickups and wiring harnesses are a good-sounding, convenient alternative. And their plug is narrow enough to go through practically any wiring channel.
Thanks for showing people what not to do. Never start a job without the proper tools.
indeed!
Nice Gibson quality routing job. I’m sure no one would ever notice it’s not pro.
Nice fretwire on that SG you built :-) THanks for the video, i have these pickups in one of my guitars and they sound great. I would advise putting a .15 cap for the Neck pickup as the .22 cap is too bassy. This cap change really changed the dynamics of the neck pickup and made it useful and also match the bridge a little better. Thats my tip for the day ;-)
Were yours wax potted ? The set of these i have are indeed wax potted. No squeel
Also to to identify which is volume and which is tone. If you have standard pots, the pots will be labeled A500K or B500K. The A's are your volume pots (audio pots) and the B's are your tone pots (Linear). ;-)
One thing is make sure is, shield you pickup cavity with either shielding paint or the tape. They leave a lot of excess wire with these and that can become almost like an antenna and cause a lot of noise. But make sure the shielding is grounded as well or else itll actually make it worse. But thats the one issue i see with these little kits is the excess wiring when your not installing it into say a LP where the wire is run farther.
Thank God for the pick guard, huh? 🤘
So you taped the ground wire to tone pot? Is this effective? I want this same kit but don't have a solder iron. Don't really feel good about taping the wire. Was wondering if the wire glue or solder paste would work?
get a solder iron and some solder. basic stuff is very cheap
Danny do you have to install a ground with these kits
yeaHHH
almost had a heart a attack when u drilled the body lol🤣
lol.. its just a cheap kit guitar I was messing around with for years, I subsequently gutted it and threw it out.
@@guitarhobbywithdannythemedic hahaha the title came off my mind when u drilled the body the way u did . 🤣🤣🤣
@@guitarhobbywithdannythemedic I was going to say that I hope the resale value wasn't affected.
While you have the drill out to rout, why not install a B bender and route the back of the guitar out?
oh i dunno
On the contrary, I hear “it’s too big, it doesn’t fit in the hole” fairly often😉
Hahahahaha!!
I date very small women exclusively.
Hey, how did all that drilling affect your tone?
there is no such thing as tone...
You could have bent the wires parallel with the harness and pushed it through.
it was too big...
@@guitarhobbywithdannythemedic But it's easy to disassemble and reassemble with a small screwdriver. I have done it myself.
@@theclaudiosmweb a small screwdriver? I will try that next time. I do have small screw drivers..
@@theclaudiosmweb Hello friend, can you explain how you disassemble and reassemble the cables? I am thinking to buy the set, but I'm not sure if the harness would fit.
I just put these pickups in an sg a few days ago and had the same problem. A very small screwdriver can pry up the clips at each one of the wires and pull them out of the clip. Run the wires through, then reinsert them in the clip.
Maybe a router next lol
I have seen a lot of badger in my life but that is amazing. Stop play with the drill. You cannot do this....never. dont do this shit at home !
DUDE YOU COULD HAVE PULLED OFF THE LITTLE CONNECTORS OFF THE PLUG!!!!! WHY T F WOULD YOU DISGRACE THE POOR GUITAR LIKE THAT!!!
pull the connectors off the plug? ... I just went and looked at the plug.. I dont have the faintest clue how to do that, but my method of making a channel for the wires may have been more palatable if I used a router instead...
@@guitarhobbywithdannythemedic on most connectors you have a little locking mechanism, like this one: m.media-amazon.com/images/I/61Heb54UqHL.jpg
@@andrezpalencia3033 so its like you do that and you can pull the wires out, then after, put the wires back into the plug?
@@guitarhobbywithdannythemedic yes!!
