    Thanks for the review, I am doing a DIY ES 335 style build and want to switch out the kit pickups for either Gretchen or the ones you have installed after hearing this, These are definitely the ones I am going with . Thank you so much for your video and helping me make my decision .

    • @theguitarmanifesto
      @theguitarmanifesto  Před 3 lety +1

      Yep I knew anyway but Epiphone brand it as coil tap so I state that 🤘🎸

  • @durferz
    @durferz Před 3 lety +6

    little pedantic correction here, but there's actually a difference between coil tapping and coil splitting - i didn't know this until yesterday, but a coil split is the usual (humbucker wired to use one of two coils) whereas a coil tap is very very different - tapping is when they take a lead out halfway through wrapping a coil and then continue wrapping it and take a lead out again when finished. this means it effectively creates a similar result (reducing output) but can also be achieved on single coil pickups.
    otherwise, keep up the good work rob :)

    • @theguitarmanifesto
      @theguitarmanifesto  Před 3 lety +2

    Can you make another video of a probucker upgrade, this time can you film over the cavity so we can see which pot goes where,there is absolutely no diagram of a cavity with probuckers control cavity either with push pull pots or even regular 3 way probucker installation diagram anywhere. I suppose you can just hook them up outside of the guitar, to figure what goes where, but it would sure be nice if someone made a video with installation instructions,thanks.

    I recently purchased probucker pickups from amazon and sound great the only issue that i found was that the red and green cables were flipped and the circuit was out of fase so i struggled finding a solution and ended up cutting the quick connectors and a few days ago i found i could just raise the plastic tip that holds the connector togheter to switch it from eachother, i feel really stupid after that 🤧

Not sure how the stock 07 pickups sound but I might attempt to change them out or get another set. Anyone got any recommendations for just a nice fat sound? Greatly appreciated
