Want to correct myself over here and say that agencies to charge something called “chargebacks” and those are charges that you pay once a year throughout your contract and they are charges for comp cards, online website portfolio, mailing etc. Each agency has different rates, they could rage somewhere between $500-$1200 a year I would say (around)

Rowena Karmy thank you for all this info! Speaking about pictures- are we expected to bring printed pictures with us when we go in for an open casting call? What if you’re brand new to everything, can you just walk in without anything tangible to hand to whoever is at the agency casting? Or you just bring pics at least on your phone?

@@parkerasel8129 ofc but if you don't live close to them.. and also if they require standards you don't match you can't give up cause 2 agencies only didn't get you, especially Elite, do you have any idea how they do their selection? I've been to a casting of them, they take 2 people over more than 10 thousand.. imagine how low the chances to get in there are..here's the thing, and if you try other agencies there are so many others that are serious.. but also many others that are not, way too many. Also not everyone knows that those are serious so before getting in those many people try many different agencies and get screwed.

@@parkerasel8129 for most people is the opposite as you see the odds. How many Asian people with unique look are there? Not many. How many Italian tall with good look good body and good style? Many many more. For us the competition is much harder.

Sunny Tulips honestly I was really surprised when they signed me! I definitely won’t be on the runway, but commercial models can make more than fashion!
I’m 5’10, 13 years old, thin, and when I talked to my parents about modeling they told me it was superficial and they wouldn’t support me. I really enjoy fashion and would love to be involved in the industry. I think mostly they don’t think I’m pretty enough to be successful but also they say I will waste a lot of time and money.
Modeling shouldn’t cost you. An agency’s job is to invest in you. I’m 13 and looking into modeling, fortunately my parents are supportive of the idea but still gave me the talk about how it is a cutthroat industry. At the end of the day you get to decide what you want to do. You’re also 5’10 and slim, that gives you a really good base to start in that industry.
You should fo for it! Look for angencies with good reputation and if you hsve to pay them its a scam! Then show your parents when you find one you think is good and they’ll aprove on.Im trying modelling too but my parents aprove.Good luckk✨

Nicole K. The key is to not try too hard and it will come naturally. If it’s forced, it’s no good.
It doesn't come naturally what I do is I look in the mirror and say I am Gourgous and I got this and that's how I do it every body has confidence in them you just have to find it and you will be a awesome model
My first time I did a runway I was scared but then I just relaxed and for me it came naturally! I just kept a straight face and just focused on not falling over in front of hundreds of people 😂! But just try naturally but if not maybe talk to someone professional:)

Lavista Putri its difficult to be that height and want to accomplish that dream but don’t let it let you down, many successful models are shorter. Also remember modeling is not everything, see what other passions you may have what other things in the world motivates you.

It makes sense to try to get an agent for commercials before you try getting into modeling. A relative started her commercials around the age of 4 years, but modeled for Target as well. Currenty you can see this teenager in her" Be a capn crunch (2020)". There is more work in commercials than in modeling. But I still think my relative looks more like a "model" than an actress! You can try during pilot season (jan-apr) or fashion week like New York, LA, Paris or London.

@@malirimmer9497 that's misleading. Huge agencies like IMG do tend to scout future models from boutique agencies, but you can also apply without prior experience. Some major agencies prefer it, as they can brand the model as they see fit- IMG also loves to take brand new talent

Look at the agency before hand (the models on their website) and see what the others do. Just know your natural hair is fire girl 🔥 and don't feel the need to change yourself for them.

Please please please I can’t stress this enough don’t be scared or shy go for it! You’re all beautiful the way you are and yes some will deny but it’s their loss not yours! And tbh with you a lot of agencies don’t give a shit about height unless if they’re looking for runway models so please go for it I think you’ll do amazingly beautiful!❤️

Do you have to bring a portfolio to open calls? So far, I mostly applied online and never got in. I feel like I'm too alternative for normal agencies and too normal for alternative agencies (it's been five years). I feel like my face isn't great maybe, not sure how to improve my applications, I already made polas and test shoots

I would add the height she mentioned is more for high fashion. However, there are different types of models/talents where height is no issues. My daughter and I are at local agencies. Im older with 5'7 is my height and my daughter is 5 ''2 and act and model We hope to sign to bigger agencies when we move to California and Chicago. I have faith we both will do great. Do you have any agency suggestions for older models in LA, NY, or Chicago

BleezyB TBL no a real agency promises you work without you paying them. If a company asks you to pay a fee it’s because most likely you’re not going to get any work

How long til you hear back from the agency after an interview? Days? Weeks? Months?
Hunter La Croix the sad part is some agencies just never ever reply to you. They don’t tell you yes or no which sometimes sucks. But if they do want you they will be in touch.

I live in UK and too many scams here about modeling, I'm 58 yrs old and spent or waste nearly nearly 7K to the agencies within last 2yrs.They always say "you have a potential we need senior models like you all the time bla bla bla" they take many photos and asking money afterwards , I had begun loosing my confidence till I watch your video and gave me a spark again . Thank you so much.Is there any genuine agencies in UK you could recommend of .
