- I ordered Tom's Studio Lumos Pro, which is refillable fine liner that is dual ended. I got their matte black version, and it included all of their nibs. I struggle to get pen assembled since there was no instructions in the package. They where in QR code, but since I was filming with my phone, it was not possible to read it.
I also got their Pocket fountain pen, in black. Pen came with Extra-fine flex nib and I also got Japanese brush tip as replacement. Again, this pen had no instructions either and I had to look up another review how to get cap open, cap was super tight.
This is just unbox and first impressions, so I did not go too much into details here. I have review coming both pens when I have given them some use and seen how they hold up.
Video is quite long, so I split it to the sections:
0:00 Unboxing
01:19 Pocket Fountain pen opening
04:56 Lumos opening
15:50 Writing sample Lumos
18:33 Writing sample pocket pen
20:20 Switching to Japanese brush nib
25:13 End recap

Thanks for the first impressions video! I know what you mean by the scratching sounds. It's weel audible through the video and indeed doesn't sound nice. I was a little impressed though that the Lumos was instantly wrtiting with the fineliner tip. What I now wonder though seeing the inside is how it will behave when you change the ink. Will the black ink be still there? Will it contaminate the new ink? Do you need a new of the inserts for the new ink? I think it could be an extra in the package like as an addition with the thank you card.
I was considering getting one of them... and I think maybe the single Lumos would be the best choice of all. As it's not too long and has the cap probably. And then use it with one ink only.
Ruka and Levi were the stars of the show btw! :D Thanks for including them.
I have been thinking same questions! I try to give Lumos now as much as possible usage to get some answers. I'm mostly worried about the insert. Also Tom's Studios is based in UK, so I can't easily get new inserts. I think the single might be better option, if it's shorter. But they don't have length in their website and there is nothing that could tell the scale in product photos. I was thinking, maybe majority use black fineliners, and does not need to change ink. But as fountain pen user, I'm used to switch inks and I mostly use brown fineliners.
@@CyaneInkArt I checked their site and they offer replaceable ink reservoirs that go inside. I'd guess you have to exchange them if you want to switch ink colors. And there is a Lumos mini, which is shorter. But kind of looks a tiny bit too short for my taste. You might be right, that people don't switch colors in fine liners that often. But it's kind of the beauty of refillable pens to be able to switch. I'm curious now, what the company will answer.
I just learned about the Lumos very recently, I think they look lovely. I'm considering the mini for myself 😄
I'm sorry they gave you such trouble!
I definitely recomend mini model. Lumos pro is so comically long it could work as magic wand 😂
@@CyaneInkArt LOL! Fair enough!
I have the pocket pen but was disappointed. Problems with ink feed and medium nib more like fine or even extra fine, titanium flex very stiff, but architect nib is fun. Overpriced.
