I do this with my potatoes for mashed potatoes! Then you don’t need as much butter! Also we make huluski in Pittsburgh. Butter, onion, cabbage, noodles, salt/pepper and dill.
Oh my looks so good ! Will certainly try this. Better than Bouillon is available here in Maryland, and I have every flavor. You are so right Jen, these are the best. You and Rich will love Lancaster. You can even spend a day on an Amish working farm. Thank you and blessings. 😊
Great cooking show ❣️. I have ate in an Amish home in Ohio with our church group and noodles were served. Very bland. Noodles are on every buffet also. Your dinner looked delicious. Thanks for sharing! Oh, I purchased one of the graters on Amazon for my cheese….easy and quick. Love it!
Kathie says…Try GFS (GORDON’S FOOD SERVICE) for the BEST Roasted Chicken Base, and AuJus Base!!! I have used “Better than Bouillon” and “Das Deutchman Essenhaus” soup base from Middlebury and Shipshewana, Indiana. They both are good, but in my 64 years of cooking, GFS has the best, natural tasting bases!! For the most delicious Prime Rib roast, soften the GFS Au Jus Base and generously rub it all over the roast and that’s IT for seasoning…all you need except the oven! If you have a GFS near you, try their Roasted Chicken Base!!
Your Amish buttered noodles looked sooo good! You’ll love Lancaster, had a brilliant Amish market, sold everything, reminded me of Yoders, in Bird In Hand. We went to the Amish Farm museum, i believe they filmed a Harrison Ford movie there called, Witness. Anyway, you’ll love it and can’t wait to see your vlogs when you go there!
Boil the cooked chicken bones and fish them out when done cooking. I reserve about 1/4 C water from the pot where the noodles cooked. Adds flavor and helps blend ingredients.
Thts where I get my better than bullion too. I keep chick n beef on stock n I buy the big jars. Thts not true at all abt that it will be rotten tho bc I've kept mine out before it was not rotten. LOL Also no one got sick...I think only reason to fridge rate it is bc it helps harden it. I absolutely luvvvvvv ur kitchen....we are in the process of doin remodel with our kitchen. We jus redone our cabinets past summer....put in butcher block counters....put in a work station sick which is similar to a famhouse....painted....now were putting in xtra cabinets...new back door plus screen door....goina swap areas with r stove/fridge & washer/dryer n a new kitchen island with more cabinet space. Nice video...luv ur serving bowl.
I watch your reviews, but it's nice to see your receipes, looks great! Hi from Seattle! Can you guys stop at a Nashville hot chicken place, that would be great to see!
Yum!!! We are big fans or Better than Bullion here. May need to pick up that big jar!! Looking forward to seeing your travels to Lancaster. It's one of Christy's favorite places. Lots to see, do and eat!
Nice kitchen, i dont know what u 2 did for living, but u seem to be living pretty well!! Who is the backseat cook?? Oh, its rich!! I want to see the better than boullion. I want lamb and Pork- they have ham which is different. I can, make sausage, salumi, whole meats, cured, smoked, dried, cooked.
Not sure if you can get these further south, so there's a couple of Amish things I'd recommend you try while in PA: sticky buns, and Lebanon baloney. These are a must for me whenever I'm in Philadelphia's Reading Terminal Market, where the Lancaster-area Amish have stalls 3 days a week. (The market is open 7 days, but I plan my trip to coincide with the Amish days! You can't really find Lebanon baloney, or even great sticky buns, here in NY.) Actually, all of their baked goods are amazing. There's 2 versions of Lebanon baloney, regular and sweet, and if you've never tried it before, you should try both. By the way, I'm very recent to your channel; discovered it a couple weeks ago. You two look like you have so much fun!
I love the Lebanon baloney! I like the regular, there is a small Amish store here and they carry it as well as cinnamon rolls which are only available frozen- but are still fantastic!! Thanks for watching and I’m glad you found us!! ❤️😀
Try putting parm chesse on a salad!! Im italian decent!! And try gorganzola cheese melted on meat. The cheese is italian blue cheese!! I love it!! Nice pan(all-clad) from Pa. They have a big weekend sale every year!! Big saving$. Our maid is a great cook as well as a great housekeeper!
Love your cooking segments! I also love to cook and I love seeing you use Temptations and your white bowl/plates! I feel at home in your kitchen and when you used your salt cellar I knew we must be related...lol...we also have Yorkies! On your way to PA in your motorcoach, stop in Ohio at Hartville Kitchen or in Columbiana at Der Dutch House! Both have really good Amish restaurants and Amish stores. Have fun and keep on cooking! ❤ edited to add...how about making chicken and rolled dumplings?
Thank you!! How many yorkies do you have? I love them so much. I will look up Hartville Kitchen, have looked at the Der Dutch House, I have never made chicken and dumplings, but I should try!😀😀
@jennifermountaingirl we only have one now. Our male, Max, passed away on Dec. 13. We miss him so much. As you know they are like our kids and they really rule the roost. I enjoy seeing yours!
Thank you Jen for this - looks AMAZING! I've never made it like this. And I LOVE your serving dish!! Love you guys and thanks for all you do! YES - please keep the at home cooks acomin!
@@jennifermountaingirl thank you I sure will. I normally use egg noodles...I'd never heard of butter noodles, I just thought it was a sauce lol. But this looked great and I will try it sometime if I can find the noodles you used. I'd love to try the Better Than Bouillon, I think Paula Deen uses that all the time. ❤❤❤
@@jennifermountaingirl I also wanted to ask you in regard to the pink Himalayan Sea Salt, would you recommend using that in place of Diamond Crystal Kosher salt? I'm about to buy some but can't decide. I know a lot of top tv chefs love Diamond Crystal Kosher for all seasoning.
Any salt is fine, I got that to try it but either would be fine…and the egg noodles would work. The little butter noodles are a softer texture I think…
When I strain the pasta I do not pour them into a collander I put the collander inside of the pan of pasta and turn and drain this way you do do loose any noodles
Jen, that pan/pot is the best thing since sliced bread. Do you just have chef hands or do the handles not get hot. You just pick it right up, how do you not burn your hands.
I was hoping you were making burnt-butter noodles. Id like to see how they do that. How far do they take the butter. I had it at an Amish restaurant years ago, have made it a few times but mine never seems to have that real buttery flavor. Maybe its the butter!
The "largest buffet" food is really not so great . When I last went Miller's had the best food . There is a lot to see in Lancaster that is not the big tourist spots and they've got great outlet stores . There used to be this hotel that was train cars , the hotel wasn't great but they had a great diner that used to move and make train sounds every so often .
Looks delicious. I enjoy your restaurant reviews but it’s nice to see you cook these wonderful recipes. This is something I would try.
It was really good!!
I like the cooking segments sprinkled in your other adventures. Good hearty recipe.
Thank you!!❤️
I agree like them both
I do this with my potatoes for mashed potatoes! Then you don’t need as much butter! Also we make huluski in Pittsburgh. Butter, onion, cabbage, noodles, salt/pepper and dill.
Yummy!!😋
I would love to see the Amish country and learn more about the Amish stores in Tennessee
Love Amish anything!!

Oh I can’t wait!!
Excellent recipe! We’ll definitely be trying this one!! Thanks!
Great!! Let me know what you think!!
You will love Lancaster. They have some delicious buttered noodles in that area. We enjoy going to Lancaster and seeing everything Amish!
I can’t wait!

You had me at noodles! Thanks guys!

Guys, those looked delicious. We have an Amish bakery near us,and I'm gonna have to drop in and see if they have these.
