Authentic for sure..we dined at a local Mexican restaurant in our area a few weeks ago. When they brought out the guacamole appetizer it was exactly like yours. I could have made a meal out of it (with chips) alone. We definitely found our go to Mexican place here where we live. If we’re ever back in the Gatlinburg area, we will check this one out. Thanks for all you do😊

Always enjoy Bennetts in Gatlinburg. So convenient when you are staying in a River Road hotel. A local establishment I like to support when in town. They used to offer a great breakfast buffet pre- 2020. Its been about a year since we last visited Gatlinburg. Do you know if they have brought it back? Don't imagine they have, but it was quite the experience. 😊

I ate there but it wasn't for breakfast. The wait was two and a half hours to get seated. We debated whether the food was worth the wait, but the view out the wndow was beautiful and we were hungry.

Please if you buy scrapple, get it from a Local Made Farmers Market and PLEASE do not bread it or deep fry like restaurants do. Scrapple taste best the easy way. Slice thickness you want, no oil or anything needed to your pan, get the pan nice and hot, works great in cast iron as well, place scrapple in the pan and don't touch it. When checking usually maybe 4 minutes if you can flip with ease it's ready to be flipped (Time depends on cooking source). If it doesn't move onto you spatula with ease it's not ready, will be crispy. Love Shady Maple.

Love the idea of different food trucks!! They do have food trucks in England, but unfortunately they tend to be located in cities or big towns, not in the rural areas, at least not where I live. They do have food vans, along the road, but mainly sell breakfast sandwiches. The lunch you both had looked delicious!

Been eating here for years. It is a very good restaurant with great staff.

Habbersett is the best brand of pork scrapple if you want to try it. If you live anywhere within a 100 mile radius of south eastern Pennsylvania it will be in the same section of the supermarket as bacon and breakfast sausage. If you aren’t in the area, Publix carries it in the frozen breakfast section. I got several southern friends hooked on the stuff when they visited me up north and the say they can get it at Publix. Just put it in the fridge until it’s fridge temperature, cut it around 3/8” thick or so and pan fry it on one side until that side is getting crispy and then flip it and crisp the other side. When done it will be crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. I eat it plain and sometimes it mixed some with my egg yolk. Some like ketchup or pancake syrup on it, and some like to dip it in flower before frying. I was born and raised in SE PA and love Habbersett Scrapple, but the stuff they serve at places in Lancaster is usually locally made and can be hit or miss, and I don’t chance it anymore in that area after getting sick once.

Kathie says…Try GFS (GORDON’S FOOD SERVICE) for the BEST Roasted Chicken Base, and AuJus Base!!! I have used “Better than Bouillon” and “Das Deutchman Essenhaus” soup base from Middlebury and Shipshewana, Indiana. They both are good, but in my 64 years of cooking, GFS has the best, natural tasting bases!! For the most delicious Prime Rib roast, soften the GFS Au Jus Base and generously rub it all over the roast and that’s IT for seasoning…all you need except the oven! If you have a GFS near you, try their Roasted Chicken Base!!
