- Hello and welcome to Lord Fenton Gaming plays Neverwinter Nights. I am your host Lord Fenton. In today's Neverwinter Nights build video, I am going to be building the Ghost dual Wielding Ranger Rogue Shadowdancer. I will be using the Ranger's free dual wielding feats along with Rogue levels and one Shadowdancer level. This Neverwinter Nights Epic build will get you far. This will work with Neverwinter Nights Enhanced Edition too. This Ranger Build will start off at 1-20 levels to 20-40 epic levels. Yes I am going to show everyone how to create your character, leveling, what items you want and finally I will test this out this character. The ability that helps the Ranger is the Shadowdancer's Hide in Plain Sight. Very useful ability. @@apwciie6440 Just keep leveling up and you will get more attacks per round. Haste spell gives you one extra attack per round too. Find any Speed Boots those have haste helps too. So level up and you'll do fine.
Fighters, rangers, paladins, and barbarians have high attack per rounds. Monks can have very good setup if using Kama or Unarmed attack. So those classes have those advantages.
@@apwciie6440 Unless your going for Kamas as your weapons than I hate to say dual wielding feats are useless for monks. Any weapon feats with the words Unarmed is great. Also what is great is Dodge and Mobility helps too. Don't get power attack because Monks get the free Cleave to use. If you can get Great Cleave in case there is many weak foes. You kill one than because of Great cleave you can keep on killing til you miss or not kill the foe. Those I can think of on the top of my head.

It was the only logical choice for the Ranger class since the Ranger can only use dual wielding with leather. Might as well go with the Rogue. I am happy you enjoyed my guide.

Thanks for watching. Yes this game has so many layers and how you can use em to your way. This build for instance the hide and move silently skill with the hide in plain sight to do some damage. I will be doing builds like this 1-2 a month. Might even expand to other stuff.

My pleasure. Sure Let me explain. You need is Dodge and Mobility, feat. Than you need 10 ranks in Hide, 8 Move Silently and 5 Tumble. Very useful class either with just one level or if your going all the way with this prestige class.

Nice guides. Which of them would you say, gives you the easiest time through the main game and the 2 dlc's? =) I played the game around 2005/6 the last time.
Sure. I feel the Original Campaign is the easiest of the three since you can mess up a few times. The SoU is second and finally HotU is the hardest since it does have some tough encounters. Cool an OG player like me back in the day.

@@Ultrabuu85 It depends on your type of style of play. If you like casting spells my Pure Sorcerer and Wizard builds although I am inclined to Sorcerers lately. As for rogues well my Shadowdancer, Rogue or if you want to be evil Assassin. For front line go with paladin or fighter. The cleric build is good too although you can become a mean fighting machine. I hope it helps.
Did they nerf dire wolf, or buff bear? Bear's stats are better after first one or two level. U can summon a dire wolf that has knockdown, but my dw companion hasn't done that. I've been trying at a lot of low lvl druid builds.
They did something to the wolf. The bear people use for tanking. People using the Spider and Panther too early on.
Why not start as rogue for more skill points?
This build I wanted to try to focus on the ranger class. It's one of the weaker ones in the game thus wanted on this one to play to it's strengths in this case duel wielding stuff.
Dude, i have just recently joined the magical world of nwn character minimaxing.
gotta ask you a question though - i am interested in a dual wield character, i was trying to make this ranger / fighter / WM combo for mad dual wield damage and BAB. but i have had some problems with that.
In short - would the dual wield (on the ranger) stack with the fighter's ambidex + TWF ?
and either way, in general, what would you recommend for a fighter dual wield build? FI / Rogue / WM ? FI / Ranger (or rogue) / assassin?
i'd be happy to hear your advice
About the Ranger's TWF and Ambidex feats if you wear anything more than light armor you will lose it. They do not stack stat wise however the regular feats will give you the freedom to wear medium armor and receive the benefits. That is why I've picked a rogue for this build.
As for duel wielding best results I've found out is the Fighter/Rogue/WM with Kurki or Scimitars to use and also if you going CoT path the Fighter/WM/CoT can either go those weapons or Scimitar' or Kurki for duel wielding too. Rangers are alright for duel wielding you just need to couple them with an rogue and light armor to use their free duel wielding feats.

And yeah iv'e been tweaking the build around some today and FI / Ro / WM is what i went for as well.
See i don't care about the fancy stealth sneaky stabby + hide in plain sight stuff ;P .. i just wanna bull rush the enemy wielding two trucks.
(***Warning*** Now this is about to get long so don't feel obligated to read below :P)
So actually, this begs the question - why even go rogue at all?
If all i want is to max out raw DPS then
FI / WM is the way to go, because rogue adds basically nothing except skills and survival (reflex save, evasion n' shit)... with the one exception of the sneak attack of course.
So maybe you could find a way for the
FI / RO / WM build to make good use of the sneak attack + crippling strike?
Maybe A FI / RO / (Assassin/SD) build could be viable?
Perhaps a Ranger / WM / assassin ? (is it even optional?)
and how many levels on the rogue did you have in mind originally when you mentioned your FI / RO / WM build?
so many questions... and every answer breeds even more :P what a wonderfully complex game :D .

@@WulfAlpha I understand some people don't like rogues still for the Fighter/WM/Rogue build it depends do I wanted 7 to 13 levels just enough than rest Fighter or get the 6-7 fighter levels and WM rest rogue. Most likely the first though if I go this route. Rogue's Crippling strike is good with this setup.
Ranger/WM/Assassin is a good option too just wear that leather to couple with the assassin's skills and get some free dw feats.
You need to get some skills for both the assassin and SD that is not cross class to get them quickly but they worth it. The only problem with both builds is evil alignment. It's a challenge but doable. Never let anyone tell you that you can only beat the campaigns as a good guy. I done it on all three original ones as evil and it was fun.

Thanks for the video. I do have some questions, though, since i have little experience with the game (played it for a while many years ago, but forgot a lot). From what I understand, dexterity doesn't contribute to damage, only to the hit chance, even with weapon finesse. Is it worth getting the dexterity that high just for skills? Also, even light armor limits the bonus dexterity.. or is that just concerning its addition to AC. I guess it is worth for the "chance to hit", but it still feels that i am missing something.
Dex in the game adds AC, certain attack bonuses for range weapons or weapons who benefit from the dex instead of str bonuses in attack from the weapon finesse feat. Dex is also very important for Reflex saves. As for skills like hide, set traps, disarm traps, ride and any other rogue skills. Dex also gives bonus to certain armor like light. One more thing dex is also important to certain feats like uncanny dodge. I hope this helps.

One more question for u my lord …why do you use wisdom necklace instead of scarab of protection ? Is it because scarab only looks good on paper but in reality is outshined by wisdom? And why ring of protection instead of resistance imma nub plz help :D
Sure. I like to boost up Wisdom on certain classes and such. If I need save throws like crazy the scarab is great. Now ring of protection is the AC factor. If I needed more save throws that too would go up. It is up to your preference after the main ability score or anything else important is already taken care of.
Also does heavy armor versus leather light armor have anything to do with swing speed kind of like in Pillars of Eternity 2 the heavier the Armour the slower you swing or is that not the case
More like Dex bonuses to armor class and skills that requires dex. Heavier the armor less dex bonus you have. As for dex skills like hide and ect wearing heavy armor will hurt you verses light.
I have a 11 level Fighter 3 level Rogue into level Barbarian kind of screwed things up because of my alignment suffice to say... I started as a scimitar and Tower Shield user tank but I took two handed fighting now cuz I have to really nice scimitars what's the prerequisites for improved two weapon fighting or is there any other recommendations cuz the Feats I can't find anything good for I mean I could go Rogue to up my magic device use so I can use Scrolls I can use level eight Scrolls right now
If your going two weapon fighting go with the two weapon fighting feat, ambidexterity and improved two weapon fighting feat. Scimitars are alright for the weapon due to their threat level. Do not forget the weapon feats though like weapon focus, weapon specialization and improved critical for that weapon plus the epic weapon feats.
I personally find too little use for animal empathy. Could I spec into something else?
Yes. If you don't like it ditch it for something you feel is much better. Treat it like I do with the talking skills, optional.
if I make a elf what feat should I lose?
When you make your elf you will lose the last feat I picked the video. So any class changes you might have to do an level later. Great news is you get some of the elves nice stuff along with it.
You've wasted a GRTDEX(V) by picking Epic Weapon Focus outside from Ranger Epic Bonus Feats. Switch it with Epic Toughness I
Also couple of questions:
-Why 8 Rogue lvls? You can go 1 for ShadowD and 1 (or 2) at the end (or lvl 20-22) for that Tumble AC and you get to pick more favourite enemies. Or you can go 9 ,for +1d6 sneak.
- Switch lvl 1 feat WP Exotic with Toughness and you get a nice HP bonus.
- Why 13 INT and CON. 12 INT and 10 CON, then pump Dex to 17. With GDex V, you get +1 AC and +1 AB.
- Dex penalty??????????
I went 8 rogue for more sneak attacks and other bonuses. I wanted a little bonus from the weapons I am using. I felt I am fine for the HP department.
@@LordFentonGaming Still, you dont gain anything from that 31 Ranger level. You can get better sneak attack, with 9 rogue.. or you can go with 7 Rogue in order to gain one more Ranger bonus feat (rogue sneak attack is the same like 8) O.o

Edit: You could also put 12 in INT/CON and 14 in CON/INT . +HP or +Skill points
no where do I see anyone doing more than the first level of shadowdancer... if it's so bad, why didn't the makers just turn it to a feat/skill mode?
The Shadowdancer prestige class you take one level for its hide in plain sight feat, go the full 10 or in rare cases go beyond 10 for the Epic summon. I made a build on that class and the summon is good.

I'd say revert a save to see if you can correct some errors.

@@VITAS874 Ah. The Pirates of the Sword Coast one by BIoware scales to your level. The player made ones brings up the difficulty too.
@@VITAS874 There is so many good ones. Besides the wonderful Aielund Saga, there is a nice Ravenloft one than if I remember one with tons of humor in it. The non enhanced edition of Darkness over Daggerford is really good from the Neverwinter Nights Vault too.

Yep sadly Rangers 3.0 is bad vs the wonderful 3.5 version.
Lord while I love this build I find it very hard to play earlier on when I’m facing dragons or hard bosses in caves I miss plenty and I get hit all the time why? I even struggle against easy threat ranking guys I fucking hate it help?
Let me help. First you want to raise to hit with potions like Bless, Bull's Strength, and ect. Str also helps unless you go the weapon finesse route than it is dex to aid in that too. Magical weapons also aids in to hit too. Weapon focus and related feats in a weapon helps with that too. Leveling up helps big time too. I hope this helps you.
