my marquis has a regular belt driven fan & clutch with an electric fan in front of that , I don't know if that's the same as what your talking about or not but I thought it was a little unusual
Let me explain this little better guy kinda rushed trough it on Max the blend door closes off the outside air and just recirculates the cold air in the cabin this will help with gas mileage cause the compressor will kick off until the air gets warm again and will kick back on again too cool. When the temperature is not so hot out you should take the HVAC system off recirculation and open the blend door to the outside air it’ll blow into the cabin and feel nice especially on the highway. You can do the same thing in the winter put it on recirculation and turn blower fan on low you’ll be nice and warm.

Correct... the air gap issue does not affect the resistance of the clutch coil
