Part 1 of 4. How to Play the Intro bass riff to Sir Duke from the 1976 album Songs in the Key of Life by the incredible Stevie Wonder. Bass Line by Nate Watts.
This is a must learn bassline for any player.

Part 4 the Unison section(Money Riff) - • How To Play Sir Duke B...
The intro does not contain bass in the original recording, but it lays down the arpeggiated foundation of the main chord structure.
The chord progression follows a I vi bVI V pattern in the key of B. There are some interesting accidentals on the vi chord along with the accidentals created by inserting a bVI or #V chord.
This riff has groove, funk, and a whole lot of soul.
I have fun playing it and learn something new every time I revisit it.
Have fun, share the love, and comment with your feedback.

Ha ha. Your comment made me realize that my comment sounds like Stevie can't "watch" a video...or anything. Lol.
I definitely meant that Stevie wouldn't be scrolling through youtube tutorials, especially of his own music.

You can't do hammer-on/Pull-offs...YET...
Keep at it, you can do this!
It will always be the weakest finger. The stronger it becomes, the stronger you will become...or at least the stronger your fretting technique will become.
