  • This video highlights Molly Picard, a junior two-sport student-athlete at Shadle Park High School. Molly is a shining example of one of many Spokane Public Schools' students who participate in Running Start, a program that allows 11th and 12th grade students to take college courses at Washington's 34 community and technical colleges. Students earn both high school and college credits for these courses.
Molly does not participate in a spring sport, but works out every morning in order to be ready for volleyball in the fall and basketball in the winter. Two classes at SFCC are followed by one class at Shadle, which is a leadership class that keeps her heavily involved in school activities. By highlighting Molly, we hope to show that, while difficult, the day-to-day of a student-athlete is a grind for those who want to improve but is also extremely rewarding for those wanting to participate in building a positive culture, not just at Shadle, but at all of our schools.
