It’s so nice to see how much the actors loved making these movies. Ewan, Samuel and Natalie all seem so excited and interested, but it’s also kind of bittersweet. I hope they know how much us fans love the prequels and their performances.

@G 84 nobody said watching these extras will make you like the movies, but they really show how dedicated lucas was on making the prequels.
Its not fair to absolutely bash on smth that has so much love put into it.
You can dislike them sure, everybody is free to have their own opinion but just keep in mind how much culture they added to the starwars fandom (clones, new planets, the jedi order, etc.)

    • @jackj9070
      @jackj9070 Před 3 lety +14

@G 84 What do you mean the story wasn't coherent. He literally had the whole trilogy planned out from the beginning. It might be the most coherent trilogy in the saga. This is very clearly a man who had a vision for his trilogy. Even if you don't agree with his descisions, that's something that should be highly respected.

    • @michaelstark8720
      @michaelstark8720 Před 3 lety +8

@G 84 Originals had simple story for simpletons like you.
Prequels had more intelligent story that encompassed entire galaxy.
You don't have enough of brain matter to focus on giant stories so simplified Originals had to be yor favorite because you cannot even understand what is happening in others

    • @michaelstark8720
      @michaelstark8720 Před 3 lety +14

@G 84 Prequels are great films. And they explore more adult themes like rise of empire step by step and destruction of democracy. Also show fall of the Jedi and destruction.
PT have hundred layers and all come around for spectacular finale.
RotS perfectly portray corruption and fall of the Jedi with their plan to remove democratically elected Palpatine from office before they even know he is sith. Also show how Jedi have fallen and are not even different from the Sith because both deals in absolutes and both looking for their own interests
Writing was excellent and film structure was excellent.
Sequence of scenes and developing story was excellent.
Acting was also excellent from everyone.
Lian Neeson as different Jedi master and rogue in his own way.
Ewan Mcgregor as young angry Obi wan who looks down on other species to wise master.
Ian Mcdiarmid as Palpatine was master of puppets controlling everything..
Natalie Portman as young queen who fight for her people and later was senator and among first starting to talk about rebellion.
Hayden Christensen was only one on planet who could portray Anakin and he portray tortured mind individual with arrogance for more power and being overconfident perfectly.
Christopher Lee as Dooku preformed elegant diplomatic way of uniting powerful financial players trade federation, techno union, banking clan, commerce guilds, corporate alliance etc... into entity that rival republic forcing republic into war while also getting rid of his master Syfo Dias making clone army in his name using Jango as template to making sure that Sith are in both side and reform republic into empire plus destroying jedi portraying them as traitors so that no one would try to rebuild them.
Samuel L Jackson as brooding leader of Jedi Council who was suspicious of everyone fearing loosing power after Jedi become generals in Clone War.
      Everyone was great.
Each character was well written having right reason for their actions.
Prequel trilogy is great and can stand alone unlike OT movies that never explain anything about universe or anything except that empire rule and rebels fight it.
CGI is faaaar better then in modern movies and that can be seen in bluray and flatscreen with surround sound, unique experience
You believe that stone age teddy bears defeated strongest imperial legion like in ep VI? That was comedy. Rebels could when arrive with fleet send soldiers down and that would be realistic while what ep VI done was joke. Ep I made better fight Gungans vs Droids and gungans had chance because they had some technology. How Rebel fleet even survive against Imperial fleet that had more and better ships on their side.
And Leia being Skywalker was comic and put last minute so that Luke had more to fight for.
Entire OT is just comedy repeat destroying death star in IV and Vi, great villians like Boba Fett was never used unlike Jango Fett and his battle strenght vs Obi Wan plus his excellent ship.
      Prequels:
      Ep. 1
We saw master student relationship with Obi Wan and Qui Gon
What mean to be Jedi and their powers,
Corruption in democracy which eventually led to rise of the Siths.
Better look at Tatooine and their customs and their way of life
      Qui Gon gambling.
Jedi and Sith and their prime
Arrogance of Jedi council about Sith
Queen that actually fights for her people
      Podracers
      The Chosen One
      Duel of the Fates
      Rise of Palpatine
      Ep. 2
Civil war in Republic. Separatist with leader Count Dooku which is one of best characters in prequels. Palpatine started his scheme to bring close Anakin and Padme to make him that eventuale choose between Jedi and Her making him susceptible to dark side. Palpatine worked on turning Anakin from Ep II asking for him and Obi Wan to protect her knowing how Anakin feels toward Padme..
Also on note that in Ep II Anakin was creepy in his approach toward Padme is easily understood because Anakin as Jedi should never be in position to make advance toward girls because Jedi lives in celibate and he was teen who didn't know better.
      Jedi is huge numbers.
Creation of Clone Army and their first battle where they had many Jedi, control over air with those gunships and Capital ships.
      Ep. 3
Great space battle at beginning, great swordfight soon after.
Palpatine started to pull strings to show that jedi planning something against democracy while he worked on Anakin to show him that he need to look force from all angles if he want to be most powerful to save life of his wife. We realize that clone army was trap because they was created by Sidious and Count Dooku to create conflict and had army loyal to Palpatine/Sidious.
Killing of Jedi under cover of their rebellion against Republic
Palpatine play with Anakin emotions and leading to moment where he choose between Jedi Order that doesn't trust him and Sidious who claim that can save his wife from death.
Anakin chooses side that would I because he had no reason to be loyal to jedi because they don't trust him.
While Palpatine put Galaxy under his control in senat, Anakin started to kill potential enemies to bring peace to his new empire.
Leading to this Fight on Mustafar where Obi Wan won and didn't kill him because he still was The Chosen One and sooner or later Obi Wan knew that he would destroy Emperor.
Before mask he wasnt full on dark side which show that he cried after he killed everyone on Mustafar.
He just went on dark side to find way to save Padme from death.
After cutting Mace Windu hand he didn't have any other option anyhow.
Prequels develop cast and story in remarkable way.
Just from beginning how Sidious become Chancelor, his manipulation of senate, both side of war and Anakin and ultimately leading to Anakin cut hand of Mace Windu to stop him to kill Sidious because Palpatine had knowledge how to save his wife.
After being part of killing Windu, Anakin chosed his side and he cannot go back so he accepted, otherwise he would be also killed by Clones and his wife would die certainly.
Great story connect prequels, and that is story of rise of Dark Side while story of OT is boring except Vader, Emperor and Luke final clash.
Obi Wan from young angry padawan grew to one of the best jedi, Anakin from Teen with long crush toward Padme and having no control of emotion because Jedi teachings that emotions don't exist to great warrior, Padme become senator later and among first started to talk about rebellion which can be seen in deleted scenes.
Haters like to joke about line I don't like Sand which is not bad as they make it to be because why would Anakin have any good feelings about Tattooine where he was slave.
Still he return despite all that sand to try to save his mother.
Luke's story was brilliant and I like him very much because of his point of view. He was last real Jedi after Qui Gon that followed what Force told him and not what Yoda and Obi want who told Luke that he must kill Vader. Luke went his own way and redeemed his father.
Anakin story was darker and was forbidden for him to see if feelings and premonitions that he had about his mother suffering and dying making Jedi guilty for his fall in darkness.
Later when he had same premonitions about Padme, he knew that this will come to pass so he acted.
Palpatine played him from ep 2 asking for Obi Wan and Anakin to protect Padme from hitman knowing how Anakin feels toward Padme because Palpatine was only one who Anakin consider as father and he told him how he like Padme even before he saw her again in ep 2.
Palpatine when he revealed that was Sith lord told Anakin that he can save his wife from dying and when Mace was ready to kill Palpatine, Anakin disarm him, didn't mean to kill him, but Palpatine used opening and killed Mace and after that Anakin chosed his side because he played part in killing leading member of Jedi council so life he knew was over so he went with side that had possibility to save Padme and Jedi constantly undermined Anakin not giving him recognition he deserved and was obvious that Obi Wan was jealous of Anakin power holding him back.
Also love story between Padme and Anakin wasn't bad because we can see how Padme changed toward him when they went alone on Naboo making him jealous, starting to know him better and see how he care for others. When Anakin was in pain of loosing mother and murder entire tribe of Tusken raiders, he was in real pain claiming that he will become more powerful so that can save others from death at same time he was in horrible grief because killing Tuskens although they they were monsters, tortured his mother for month and killed majority of peoples that went search for her. Padme saw that he was good but made bad choice.
Only funny part was Anakin approach to Padme at beginning of Ep 2, but he had crush on her 10 years and Jedi don't teach about that kind of feelings so he was just teen that didn't knew playing cool.
And he was slave on Tattooine and later slave to Jedi order while Padme being Queen and later senator also having no relationship as she said that last crush was when she had 12 years. Also in extended scenes this was also mention.
So they were both kids falling in love not having prior experience while their civilization was falling apart around them.
As Dooku said in extended editions to Padme and Anakin:
      Republic cannot be saved.
Prequels gave us better story of Fall, they explained universe better and had better action scenes.

You can say whatever you want about Prequels, but the world building was amazing; the planets, Corruscant especially, the Temple, Jedi ways and unifirms, how Republic operates its immortalized by the Prequels.
The amount of games, comics, books that took inspiration from world in Prequels is staggering. George really expanded the Galaxy in it, at least 10 times more than Sequel trilogy. I, for one, am grateful for Prequels.

Regardless if it was shit or not, he had passion in his work, as well as consistency.
From how bad the prequels were you can't deny it at least flowed consistently.
The newer films are more competent (at times) stories, but they didn't flow well at all and were extremely disjointed.
Here me out, cut out the near pointless rebel shit, and tighten up the Jedi stuff a bit, the Last Jedi would make for a decent short film.

    • @youngknowledgeseeker
      @youngknowledgeseeker Před 3 lety +10

DrMatrix1231 Yeah I know, I’m cool with peoples opinions, and I’m cool if they dislike or even hate parts of the prequel’s or even all of it... however I am royally pissed off that we as fans didn’t also give him enough positive feedback for the good of his movies, some of the good which some people haven’t even realized until the sequels came out and they could compare. The prequel’s aged beautifully.
I’ll be honest and no one can change my mind, the fans made him sell his work before he made the sequels in the Disney version is just completely devoid of life and is at best an OK science-fiction movie but nowhere close to being Star Wars, and yes I’m furious I loved Star Wars.
Also, I’m pretty shocked and Willder that people can really except Star Wars from a different author. Like for example no one would stand for that kind of bullshit with stories like Harry Potter or Game of Thrones. Like if J. K. Rowling sold harry potter on the fifth book and told Disney they could just make up whatever they wanted for the ending and fuck her notes if they want.... like what? No one who actually is a fan would stand for that.... but when it comes to Star Wars we didn’t give a shit that George sold it, like all those brilliant ideas that made us love it weren’t his. All we cared about was that Disney bought it. We deserve shitty Star Wars or for it to die

    • @DrMatrix1231

I love star wars but the extended universe, not canon. From what Disney has made of it it's now just another corporate brand for there image, just like Mickey Mouse. You know it because it's a Disney product, not because it's a vision of a passionate man.

    • @youngknowledgeseeker
      @youngknowledgeseeker Před 3 lety +2

DrMatrix1231 “odd” (jar jar? lol) yeah I’m not trying to say the prequel‘s were flawless, though the things that most other people had problems with I didn’t really at all, or I could completely ignore it.
I know it’s not good marketing but if Disney had marketed the sequels as their “what if” stories, out of respect for George and Star Wars, I would have been so much more totally on board with the sequels, I think a lot of the fans would.
But when you have creative license like that and make the story however you want it too with no respect to the fans, story, or original author without at least calling at “what if” you were on a sinking ship from the brginning

There are also a few hidden features on the bonus disc on all the Prequal films (Except for Episode 3)
    For episode 1:
From the individual deleted scenes interface, there is a small button on one of the projector arms of the laser doors. To access this button, move up to the "Doc Menu" selection and press your Right button. This button can only be activated from the first two scenes and leads to introductory interviews and explanations that appear to beÉget thisÉinterview segments that have been deleted from the Deleted Scenes Documentary, which is almost enough to boggle the fanboy mind.
Within the "Animatics and Still Galleries" section, don't make any selection and let the audio repeat twice. Wato will fly out and prod you to make a selection.
Go to Television Spots / Tone Poems and let the menu cycle through. A holographic image of Darth Sidious will appear before Viceroy and say, "We must accelerate our plans."
    For episode 2 Disc 2
: your Enter button Dex's Restaurant. When you get to Dex, go to the main menu, then go to the left and highlight the poster behind Dex. It will take you to "Star Wars - Want Ads The College Campaigns".
On the DVD menu for "R2-D2 Beneath the Dome", press your Right button from the "Play All" option. R2's "eye" will light up blue in the logo and about 3 dozen still images from all the"Star Wars" films show up, including publicity shots and scenes from the "bungee jump".

6:45 I think the reason Sir Christopher Lee has two lightsabers was because they needed some kind of reference for the cgi yoda in the fight scene and then he just used his own for his motion alone, I think that’s how it works, they do a reference take then a blank take I think, you’d know better than me about the process Theory lol 😂 I’m just speculating based on previous special features I’ve seen from films not just Star Wars

Boy.. Do I love the Prequels! ♥️ But I have absolutely no shame or regret in saying that *Attack of the Clones* is my no.1 STAR WARS movie. So much world-building, the Jedi Order in its prime, so much character development, introduction of new characters, the “calm before the storm” of the Clone Wars. It’s a seriously spectacular time period in the movie.. but an over-looked and under-appreciated movie, itself.

There are bloopers or gag reels on all the Prequal DVD but they are only on the 1st disc. To access the gag reel and outtakes, from the "Options" menu on the first disc, and on your remote of keyboard, you have to enter the number 1138 which is the name of George Lucas's first film THX 1138. First enter the number "11" (which will probably be "10+, 1" for most people, or possibly "1, 10+"), followed by "3", and then "8". If you are watching disc 2 on your computer an easier way to access these bloopers/gag reels is to put the disc in wait for the main menu to display, right click your mouse and go to playback-Titles and go to title 3. (I'm using VLC PLayer for my video playback so it might be slightly different depending on what your using for your media player.)

Attack of the clones is one of my.favourite movies only because there is so much to it, it shows the first signs of anakin struggling with his emotions and lashing out, it shows the beginning of the emergency powers being given to the palpatine it has some of the best action scenes and lightsaber duels, this is why I wish Lucas never sold the rights to star wars, as he said himself he always tried to do and show something new it would of been awesome to see what creatively he would of done in 7 8 and 9 vs Disney just trying to make essential clones of the original films to such a fault that they made the duels like the originals why wouldn't you take inspiration from.the fantastic lightsaber duels in every prequel movie

47:35 I think it's amazing that when this came out the internet was still at a point where they were going to default to using Fedex to transfer data and only uploaded it to "the internet server" because they didn't have time to deliver a physical copy. But they couldn't handle streaming video, so they had to use a complicated system where they had 2 copies of video, streamed the sound, and used some kind of remote video playback control to have the video players on either end start and stop their separate copies.
Meanwhile anyone with a chromebook can stream video on wifi from the walmart parking lot if they want to.
Speaking of ancient streaming stuff, anyone else remember how "cool" internet radio was for a while and how much of a bitch it was to set up in winamp?
