  • Here is some extra footage from riding on board the Whippany Railway Museum CNJ 175th Anniversary Excursion Full Ride from Whippany to Morristown, as well as the 3 PM excursion crossing Route 10. On May 19, I journeyed to the Whippany Railway Museum for the Central Railroad of New Jersey 175th Anniversary Celebration. As part of this special event, New Jersey Transit sent GP40PH-2 4109 CNJ Heritage Unit, originally CNJ GP40P 3677, to the museum grounds for static display. Newly acquired Morristown and Erie GP15-1 24 powered the caboose excursions for that day. Due to track work, the trains ran from Whippany to Morristown that day, a wonderful surprise. I rode the 2 PM excursion in the CNJ Caboose 95129 (elegantly appropriate for the occasion haha). I saw a lot of other railfanners that day at the museum and while on the excursion, and it was a very busy day at the museum, which was awesome to see! One thing to also note is that Morristown and Erie 24 has a K3L, which is the exact same as Morristown and Erie 18 and 19.
