- MG Astor review in Hindi - Here's all you need to know about MG's upcoming new compact SUV - Astor. Set to take on the likes of Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, Skoda Kushaq and VW Taigun, the Astor is feature loaded to the brim. Though it misses out on some crucial features like auto-dimming IRVM, ventilated seats, wireless charger and most importantly a diesel engine. Prices of the vehicle will be announced in October.
Not a fan of artificial intelligence,but I love the Astor's design. I will go for the lower variants with less techno distraction.

And one more thing I am not sure but I think wireless Android auto is also missing.

The car is well proportioned, that is the prime issue I had with the HECTOR. So good design job. Sunroof a useless feature in Indian conditions, I have never used it in any of the cars I have owned (the cars did not have a choice of NOT having them) Do not like the front grill design at all, I would probably want to change it IF at all I were to buy this car.
I am not a fan of buying Chinese products, but I will admit the car is tempting.

Although not clearly defined but compact SUVs are sub 4 meter in general talk. Transmission tunnel is also providing longitudinal strength to prevent sandwich effect on front or rear collision so it's good to have feature
Sure hit for MG, need diesel version to achieve 5k sales. Also, dealerships not available in many tier 1/2 cities. Definitely a threat to Creta and Seltos.

As every body telling pricing is the key factor to take share from segment leader creta,seltos.
Atleast 1.5 petrol should be starts from 9 .0 lacs so it can take some share of subcompact top model customers.
Considering the features, quality , and safety it provides, it should be safe to say that price be starting at 11.30 - 12 lakhs for base model

I have actually pre-booked Taigun. But at the same time I also think Astor is going to give a very tough competition . This car looks very promising and have actually surprised me with look, quality, fit and finish of the interiors, though not sure about its overall driving dynamics and ride comfort. My priority is definitely not ADAS or its AI .
Is Astor really worth considering , compared to Taigun 1.5 tsi DSG ? Or should I stick to Taigun ?
We are driving it on 26th. Will let you know about its dynamics post that.
Same thing, i have also pre-booked VW Taigun, but seeing this MG Astor i'm a bit confused now. Though i will go with Taigun only, after all VW is a premium brand, MG doesn't give that kind of feeling.

@@drswapnilborde I see they have not given reach adjustment for steering and the mirror is also manual not auto dimming . Looks like they have put less emphasis on driving . There is a high possibility that its engine might not be as refined as the TSI engines ...
@@anishv5020 Well Volkswagen is a world leader owning one of the finest brands like Audi, Porche, Skoda, Buggati, Duccati etc . In addition to that MG right now, is actually owned by a Shanghai based state company . So there is no match . Even to hide this they keep badging it with Birt-Brit everywhere .
I was looking towards Astor just becoz of its look and quality of materials used is actually very very good . But still I would most probably stick with Taigun only .

I think many people are not aware that this is a chinese brand and not british as they try to project themselves. This fact should be highlighted at the begining. Also, parts are very expensive - almost 4 to 5 times that it is in china. For eg. the fake exhaust in Gloster costs 35k. If the rear bumper gets damaged, you'll have to change the side bumpers as well because they are fibre-welded together.
And we have not even discussed Global NCAP ratings.

bro harrier is a segment above car. Harrier and hector are of same segment. This car will be in mid size SUV segment competing creta, seltos, kushaq and taigun.

Are paramomic Sunroofs safe in any kind of accident.
No...they affect the structural integrity of the car. It's just like a hole in the roof. It weakens the frame of the car. Panoramic sunroofs add weight to the car...tremendous weight...glass is heavy. Normal sun roof weighs 10 kgs, panoramic sunroofs weigh 30 kgs plus. More weight means centre of gravity is affected as weight is on top. More weight...less fuel efficiency. It involves motors and other moving parts. Expensive to maintain...if anything goes wrong...get ready for heavy bills. Also sunroofs let heat inside...causes load on AC and decreases fuel efficiency of the car.
This is not only for MG.. but for all car brands. This is the reason Toyota does not offer Sunroofs even in their 30+ lakh cars.
By the way I like MG cars..they have become successful in a very short time. High quality cars.

If vinyl will get very hot

But vinyl cracks seat can be hide if cracks appear but what about dashboard
in that case need to replace complete dashboard ?

About alcantara Leather just leather or vinyl
As i understand leather ( duplicate one ) leatherette ( vinyl, alcantara etc ) comes with different quality which decide its life
And as mg is Chinese brand i am very concerned for cost cutting they may give non standard material which may start cracking may be in 3-5 years of life span
Usually leatherette life is about 8-10 years also depends on climate condition and cleaning materials
But still seat can covered easily but dashboard cant
India car cleaning is not very high standards also when we buy car mind set for most of the peoples is they are going to use it for next 10 years

Yes, Yogi agreed with you. Brilliant & Blunt review as always. Definitely missing are Auto Dimming IRVM, Ventilated Driver Seat & Reach adjustment in Stearing.
Again, if priced well buyers might forget all the missing features in Astor.
4.3 mts segment is getting crowded & the competition getting fierce. XUV700 also to be considered if priced well.
