FYI !!!!! Newer Schlage models is a “1” not a “3” to change program. Ao if you keep hitting a wall while programming a new number in, try number 1 instead of 3. Hope this helps. It did for me.

Oh man, this helped me out. The original code did not work after installation and I was using the pre programmed ones. Broke up and I couldn't change the code. I was about to go to home depot to get another one when I googled this on a hunch.

However, we should have just noted the dimensions prior to purchasing. Otherwise, we love the doorbell. It works perfectly, and the video is very clear, even at night.

The Schlager are great locks. I wished the angle (face door jamb) of the one we purchased was "longer" like some of the Weiser angle locks are. We were using ours outside on a wooden shed door. The weather tends to move the wooden door a bit and it won't lock properly We kept the (shed) Schlager for the house door and bought another lock a Weiser, for the shed door.

Simply put the thumbturn in an upright position and it will remain in passage mode, allowing the lock to remain unlocked until you return the thumbturn to a horizontal position. I purchased a house a few years back with the Schlage keypad deadbolt. We werent given any codes, I've just been using a key which is a h0rrible experience (i'm the only one in the family who can actually do it!). I've just pulled it off the door, got the factory codes, done the reset process per instructions but it simply never accepts the default programming code or two user codes. Im doing the reset via 1. disconnect battery, 2. Press Schlage button, 3. Reconnect Battery - confirm green flash and beep, 4. Press and hold Schlage button until it stays on and beeps 5. Enter any of the user codes. At this point nothing happens for a while until it eventually beeps and flashes red. What am I missing here?

, there was an error in programming, low batteries. If you haven't changed the batteries, try doing so and see if that fixes it. If not, please give us a call at 888-805-9837 and we can help you troubleshoot the issue. Also, you might need to reset the programming code, as it might not be correct and that is why it only goes to the 4th number. The lock will indicate a low battery level and the following video will demonstrate how the keypad notifies a low battery, and how to replace it. I couldn't get the keypad to go orange in programming code. Be SURE to press the program buttons until you hear a beep. If one of the numbers do not beep, PRESS IT HARD ENOUGH OR IT WILL NOT GO INTO ORANGE PROGRAMMING CODE.

I am trying to program my lock and have followed all the proper steps but the lock will not accept the 6 digit code... light goes on red at 4 didgits... how can I delete everything and go back to the auto settings so that I can change the code.
Same here, cant pu it programming code cause the lock recgonizes it as wrong four digit code and turns red, and after a few tries blinks and beeps 3 times red.
Just had to do this on mine and found the directions to reset to factory defaults int he book. You have to disconnect the battery and press the "Schlage" button on the front, then within 10 seconds reconnect the battery (the "Schlage" button will blink and beep) and press & hold the "Schlage" button until it lights green and the lock beeps. Then you can test one of the default user codes to make sure it reset correctly.
Do not confuse the 6 digit program codes with the 4 digit user codes. Normally there is not a need to reprogram your program codes. What you want to do is add new user code(s). These are the 4 digit codes. Follow the video on this and you will be succsssful.
I know this reply is 2 years late, but mine had the same problem and I have the solution. If light goes on red at 4 digits, that means its not the right program code. I tried 123456, and it worked.
When I do user code for the first time, can I use my own code or does it have to be what's on the instruction booklet. If so, do I enter it when it says to enter the user code from the paper and in the video at 30 seconds into it? Is that when I would enter my own user code instead of the one on the book.

You dont need the keypad to lock the door from the outside. Just lock the door on the inside and close the door when outside!
our lock is programmed and was working fine, now the number zero (0) which formed part of our code, no longer works. How do we fix the zero key on the keypad? All other keys work fine
I have this same issue did you get yours to work? My personal code worked fine forever but know doesn't the lock turns green and acknowledge the correct code but when I turn the knob it won't unlock or lock
This gonna sound odd and not even sure cause I dont want to hear one apart cause its brand spanking new. Lol. If you can get it apart n take the board loose n get behind the button from inside the lock something is flattened most likely n it isnt making that connection. A small ball of aluminum foil may work help. To fill that void if you will. Thats if thats the issue. Its worth the shot. I'm kinda up on the up on electronics but ive just bought one and dont have the issue n dont remember how tough it may have looked to get to it. I've got a lil memory effects from chemo but yet still very good...always had a vivid memory so its still good but..lol I havent torn one apart further than what it is in the box new before I installed it.
Does it beep or light up, feel loose, stiff , like deflated if you will or no pressure against pushing it compared to the rest of the buttons?

The rubber key pads are falling out and i think moisture got in and now the key pad dont respond ,.
I have this model lock, and I put in a new code when a tenant left. The new code works, but it blinks red and chimes server also times in a row, and then turns green and unlocks. I’m not sure what I’m doing wrong?
Chris Thanks for reaching out to Schlage Support. The red light, beep followed by green light is a low battery indicator. Replace your battery with a Duracell Alkaline battery and that should resolve your issue.

Kayta, Thank you for reaching out to Schlage support. Yes you can use the factory code as each lock has its own unique user code and programming code.
However, we do recommend not giving out the factory codes and changing your user codes from the factory codes as the factory codes will remain in the lock and if you give that code out to someone and then need to change it, every time you reset your lock you will have to remove that code.

Just purchased this lock and was hoping that I could set the code to expire for each guest. Does this do that? I can't find anything that answers that question clearly. Maybe I'm not asking it correctly.

I have a lockset that when I try to enter the programming code it beeps after 4 times red. I disconnected the battery and press a key to kill the residual power then connected but still cant go past 4 numbers. I cant test the lock code since the numbers are faded out I barely can make out the programing code. If I could get the programing to work I can change the codes. Any help

The 6 digit programming code is on the back of the lock.
If you have access to the back of the lockset, you can unscrew the 2 screws to get the code.

The default sticker on the lock is under the keypad side of the lock. If there is no sticker, then your lock needs to be replaced as we do not have generic codes for our FE595 lock.

Hi I don't even know if you can help me...is there a way to program the key pad without the original program code or code that came with the lock...my issue is that my handyman installed three locks for me and threw out all the instructions except for one...so now I'm not sure how to program the other 2
Each lock has a unique set of codes so you would need the programming sticker for each lock in order to reprogram. We do provide a programming sticker on the back of the exterior keypad so you may need to remove the lock from the door to locate that information. If you have the same FE595 model as referenced in the video you should be able to remove the two screws holding the interior cover on. Once that cover is removed there is a small screw to the center left side of the baseplate. You can unscrew this with your hand. Once it is removed the lock should come off the door. What if you can’t find the operating guide with the programming code? Someone before me probably threw it away years ago
Fortunately there is a programming sticker located inside the lock as well. To access the programming sticker, you will need to first remove the interior cover by unscrewing the two Phillips screws above and below the interior lever. Then, remove the "set screw" that is located towards the center of the mounting plate. Once these three screws have been removed, you can then slide the exterior keypad away from the door, exposing the sticker located directly behind the exterior keypad. The C battery was almost dead and most of not had enough charge to move the deadbolt once the correct code was entered. I changed out the battery and it works perfectly fine now! Unfortunately, without the programming sticker you cannot reprogram the lock as that contains the original factor codes. We do include two programming stickers when purchasing an electronic lock. One on the user guide and another on the back of the exterior keypad.
Much easier that I thought to perform this task than the written instructions would have you to believe..

Make sure you carry key that comes with it. Battery went dead, cost me over 400 for locksmith!!!

@@javi1609 Unfortunately, there isn't anything that can be done if the preset codes are lost/removed from the back of the keypad.
There were no beeps when I programmed the lock. The sound was supposed to be the default setting.

Thank you posting about your lock. The beeps can be faint when trying to program your lock. We would recommend making sure the lock is flashing the correct color when trying to program your lock. If you are still having issues programming your lock, then we might recommend factory resetting your lock. Once that is preformed then you can program again like the video shows.

Our electronic locks come pre-programmed with 3 codes:
1.) User Code A (4-digits)
2.) User Code B (4-digits)
3.) Programming Code (6-digits)
User code A and B are only there for testing the lock during installation. They will also continue to allow access until deleted. However the 6-digit programming code is what's used to program and make changes to the lock. The programming code will not allow access. You can find all three of these codes in two separate locations. One sticker can be found on the user's manual and one sticker can be found inside of the lock itself.
Please verify you are using the correct code when following the procedures.

My battery went dead and I did not have the key or the the programming code but I could get to the inside.
I just removed the two screws from the inside and read the programming code label inside the lock. I replaced the battery. It still remembered the old access code. This type of electronic lock, where the user, not the battery, supplies power to retract the bolt, is better than the ones where the battery provides the power because the battery lasts much longer.
My inner plate is cheap plastic, not metal, the allignment screw hole is broken. makes it harder to put it together.
How to stop auto lock feature ?.
Hi, thanks for reaching out to Schlage. The auto-lock on our FE595 can be disabled by flipping the interior turn to the vertical position. This will allow users to bypass enter from the outside without needing to enter the unlock code.
Tried resetting multiple times and mine won’t take programming code, it’s thinks it’s a user code and only accepts first 4 digits then beeps

I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issues with this lock. If the lock is not accepting your programming code, you may have to factory reset the lock before you can program it. To reset this lock:
-Disconnect the battery
-Press and release the Schlage button 4-5 times to drain the lock of any residual power
-Reconnect the battery
-Press and hold the Schlage button down for 10 seconds

I have been trying to program my lock for a while. Every time I try to enter the six digit programming code, after I type the fourth digit, it beeps red because it thinks I got the 4 digit user code wrong. Is there a correct way to enter the six digit programming code?

@@SchlageLocksOfficial I entered to PIN code but it seems like the lock was turned from inside how do I get lock to engage when I enter my user code seems like a client switched the lock back to horizontal from vertical
