Hi,. Your videos are really helpful. I'm flying next month and haven't flown in a long time. I have a question regarding the liquids bag. Is there a limit to how many items you can have in your quart size bag or can you fill it up with any 3.4oz. size?

I’ve been watching your videos for about a month to try and figure out how to fly with bags. We had read deltas information which said we would have designated storage for our backpack and our small carry-on. Didn’t happen. There were only three seats across in the so-called first class. The man across from us boarded first and took our overhead room. Ours had to be checked, to say the least, we were livid, and I do appreciate all of your info on every aspect of travel.

Tip on pickpockets: if your money/wallet is in a place that is a pain for you to get to; it will also be a pain for a pickpocket to get to. Places like Inside the small zippered pocket inside your bag.
Never put your wallet or phone in your back pocket. Never put your bag on your back, a backpack with nothing of value will be fine. Don't react when there is a sudden commotion near you, you reveal where you are keeping your valuables by touching them.

Love these bags! One thing to be aware of is the strategy of buying multiple bags on Amazon and returning the ones you don't want has a negative impact on sellers. Many are small businesses with small profit margins. Once a bag is returned it is no longer considered new resulting in a smaller profit or even possibly a loss. I know returns are a part of doing business but it stinks for the seller if we buyers are just trying them out. Just something for us all to be aware of....

@@CarolanIvey, unless Amazon has changed their policy since I was an FBA seller. The problem was I would have to pay to have it shipped to me for inspection and then pay to have it shipped back to Amazon if I thought it still qualified as new. No profit in that! Don't get me wrong, returns are a part of doing business. I personally have no qualms about returning something if it doesn't meet my expectations. I just try to be careful about only ordering something I think I will really like. LOL! That's why I was watching Laurie's video!

I flew on AF and Icelandair in January and AF was 15 inches but Iceland was 16. AF was strict with the person in front of me, but not with me. So you just never know. I’m going to size down to 15 inches to meet requirements for any airline because you know they could change it at any minute! Just wrapped up booking Detroit to Iceland, Iceland to Glasgow (train to Edinburgh) Edinburgh to Copenhagen then Copenhagen to Iceland back to Detroit. Using Googleflights & Skyscanner I was able to do it all for around $1000. Typing in “Anywhere” as your destination gives you many lower cost areas then by using Europes hop skip airlines or rail systems allows you to explore. Looking at all the airlines bag requirements was a bit arduous but paying the upcharge for a carry on versus 1 personal item was important. BTW I’m a 64 yr old Grandmother of 10 & will be traveling alone.

This is when your emergency roll of duct tape comes to the rescue. Many travelors and guide book authors recommend taking a self-made roll of duct tape to use for emergency repairs to suitcases. (Duct tape has many other uses.)
Duct tape comes in many different colors and patterns. Don't use black except for wheel area repairs. Choose a color that complements your suitcases' colors. Make a pattern with the tape to help the suitcase stand out (in a tasteful or artistic way) among the masses of similar suitcases.
I highly recommend taking a photo of the repaired, packed suitcase. That way, if further damage occurs, you can show the condition of the suitcase before its latest trip.
You can also use duct tape to make luggage tag holders and wallets. Many books are available with instructions. Check your local library. There are even patterns available to make briefcases and computer cases.
I recently used some to attach my rollator walker's brake cable in several places to the frame. This keeps them close to the walker and less likely to catch on things when you go through tight areas.

Thank you Laurie! I’ve been on a search for the perfect personal item backpack for awhile now. As a petite woman so many are just too big! I am finding you get what you pay for. If you think you are going to use it often it’s worth investing in a quality bag that will keep your possessions safe and accessible to only you.

02:28 When booking your flight, watch out for mentions of code sharing to indicate that the flight will be on a different airline. Airlines often codeshare with other airlines in the same alliance (One World, Star Alliance, Sky Team), so if you see multiple airlines having a flight from X to Y at the same time, it’ll be a codeshare. The flight number can also be an indicator that the flight is on another airline’s metal, eg. if your booked airline’s flight numbers are usually 2 letters & 3 numbers (or 4 starting with 0) and you see a flight that it’s 2 letters & 4 numbers (not starting with zero).

This is just what I needed! A couple of years ago, I was searching for a personal item that was 40cm x 30cm x 15cm airline required measurements. That's 15.748 x 11.811 x 5.906 inches and practically impossible to find. I finally found the Fjallraven Kanken classic that was pretty close and bought it. It's a great, light 16 L bag and will meet the requirements of my next flight in July.

@@TravelTipsbyLaurie I noticed that video headline after I sent that message. I was also thinking about how to handle aggressive taxi drivers--groups of them trying to get customers. In China, I spoke a little Chinese and I was trying to negotiate a taxi to the hotel. Finally one driver said, 'We all charge the same.' Ok And for that honest info, I hired him the next day to take me around. But I remember arriving in Marseilles to the train station from Paris.I got a taxi to the hotel. The driver asked if I had ever been to Marseilles. No, I said. Well, 20 minutes and 30 euros later I arrived at the hotel. When I was leaving Marseilles, I discovered that the train station was within walking distance of the hotel. So, a traveller should ask the hotel how much a taxi should cost and be prepared. So I am thinking about information to avoid things like that. I also was on a crowded bus from an airport to the town and the man near me said on that bus someone had sliced open the side of his suitjacket and stole his wallet !

Just travelled to Europe from Canada
via FRA at the 8:25 beginning of April. Laurie’s tips are so true! Our aeroplan ticket was routed through a partner airline, Discovery Airlines and the personal item is, I believe, 10 cm depth. EVERY passenger’s carryon and personal item bag were weighed and had to fit into tin measuring canisters. Weight is only 18 lbs. many of us were stuffing stuff into pockets and our checked bag. Strongly recommend traveling with a jacket that has deep zippered pockets. Saved us! Stuffed some heavy things into the pockets and that made the difference. The Lovevook (striped) bag that Laurie recommends was too wide at the bottom to fit into the measuring tin, so my husband turned it upside down so the tapered top fit and the airline staff said ok and let that go. Do check the airline’s limits for weight and measurements! Both weight and size were checked for everyone.
