- In this episode of Bro Labs I get hit by a medieval flail so nobody else has to. This dangerous flail damage test experiment will likely cause insane damage but hopefully we will be able to figure out just how effective flails truly are!

@@KurNorock the type that they're using, yes, likely were never deployed on a battlefield. However the peasant style flail, a threshing implement (the much longer pole, shortened chain and conical head) was deployed towards the end of the late medieval period
I'm shocked the medieval flail didn't shatter on impact of Houston's quads....a tragedy avoided, as the shrapnel could have killed the whole crew.

Definitely had some fairly heavy internal bleeding on that left inside thigh. Lucky the tight muscles probably constricted the vessels enough to not let him bleed out and die from it lol

Hey bud I know you're tough and all and you're making great content it's wicked funny but think about yourself and once in awhile please. You have no idea how many blood clots you could possibly have sent into your bloodstream which could possibly stop your heart. Make sure some of these get looked at by professionals to make sure that kind of thing doesn't happen. Other than that you got a great page boss.

This is the only video you've made so far where I was genuinely concerned for your safety. I thought flails were designed to break bones. Apparently that wasn't their original purpose, but either way, they're very good at it. Pretty much anyone swinging a medieval flail at 100% is going to break your femur. Thank you for the entertaining video, and I'm glad your assistants held back on that one.
I thought they were designed for fighting armoured opponent like a mace. If you are fighting unarmoured opponents I think it's pretty meh compared to a sword do to the timing problems, and the over commitment needed for every strike that leaves you wide open. You are correct though they can break bone as bone is more fragile then wood or metal.
Actually flails were agriculture tools originally, then adapted to warfare.

So yes, a flail swung at full force could absolutely break your femur with a direct hit. The question is how much of the impact would be absorbed by the soft tissue. Given the interns' aim, I'm guessing not very much.

Fun fact! Flails where more than likely used on horse back to protect the horseback riders hand! From all the force he would receive back into the handle from striking an object at such speeds and high velocity! Say they used a hammer on horseback the recoil from striking the opponent would be absorbed by the attackers hand having to grip tightly so the weapon is not whipped out of their hand!
