Thanks Steve, this is a very informative video. EXACTLY what the consumer needs
Steveâs videos are comparable to Brian Cooleyâs car videos in that, as you mentioned, they hit the spot and you feel like you learned something relevant, more so than most

nice video comparison, but i wanna ask about what function of motion flow x200 (on X80K) and x800 (on X85K) for movie or gaming, and whats the different ??

Whatâs your opinion between 80k and the X89J? I have a ps5 sĂł the 120hz itâs a plus on the 89j but what about picture quality? Thanks!!!

Steve, can you do a review of the Sony X75K model sold at Best Buy? Compare it to the X80K that is $100 more in a 65 inch... Thanks, love your channel!
Hello. Question. I already own a Sony 85 inch XBR-85X900H that we have in our living room. I just ordered a Sony 85 inch KD-85X85k for our loft. We want to make the loft our primary viewing room. What is the best TV out of these two to put there. I would assume that the new 85X85K is better, but I donât want to assume. Thanks in advance!
Do you think i should get the x85k or or the lg qned 80 series? i need a 50 inch for my room that I will need to use for gaming(ps5 and pc) and watching 4k blurays and some hdr content. Ive been i balling the lg qned for the vibrant colors and because it has geforce now capabilities but the sony tv might work better for my ps5. Which do you recommend seeing as how they are both the same price for the 50 inch?
Which would you recommend for TV viewing the X85K or the Samsung 85 class Q80BD series tv? Both are the same price at Costco, just not sure which one I should buy. Will not be using for gaming.
@Tech Steve Hello Tech Steve. Thank you for your videos. Iâm a woman who doesnât know much about TVâs but I can say that out of the TVâs I have purchased in the past I like my Sony tv best. @@JerseyDevil26 Hey man, I am planning to buy the X85K too. Do you recommend it after a year use?
Hey Techsteve... I just purchased X85K sony 85 inch. Under the display specs it says "Display Panel : LCD" kind of worrying me and curious to know if this is a LCD tv or LED.. Can you enlighten me ?
1st thing i noticed was the excellent video quality! Glad you upgraded your cameras
X80k now supports 4k 120hz. I don't know if they updated the tv or if it's only on certain sizes, but I just bought the 85" x80k and it says it has 4k 120hz in the manual as well as labeled on hdmi 3 and 4 on the back of the tv. I tested it with a ps5 as well as laptop, and it works.
Good looking out also looking at the 85 incher
Yeah i was thinking the same, is the x80k 120hz or not? In 85 inch
Only the 85 inches
Exactlyyyyyy what I came here to say!!! Mine says 120
I am currently looking at the X85K and the X90K. Do you have any preference Steve?
I have the sony bravia 50x85k and some shadow is seen in the corners of the panel, this only happens in light colors especially in white, is this normal? Or is it a defect?
i was all set to get the x80k, in fact i would have it now (thankfully the Bestbuy i was at had no stock). Went to another BB and almost got it. But something told me to double check things. Did a bit of searching on web and decided on the x85k. So happy that i hesitated and first BB had no stock.
Also thank you for this video. I have both a PS5 and Xbox X. Could not figure out why the new TV said it did not support VRR. When you had the inputs screen up i saw the setting i was missing. So thank you
Interesting 'coz everywhere i have checked it out the x80k they said its a 120 refresh rate ...
Thatâs motion rate not native rate

How has TVs changed since 2016? Have 55X850D with manufacturing date August 2016. X85K vs 55X850D?
great video, Tech Steve! the difference was really nailed this time.
it's interesting that while the X85K beat the X80K in the head to head this year; last year, it really seemed the other way around with the X80J beating the X85J. did the X85K really step it up from the X85J or did the X80K slide down from last year's X80J?
The 80j i reviewed was an IPS panel and I thought it preformed better. czcams.com/video/ar2ojoeFYrU/video.html

Great comparison!
Which tv would be better in a completely dark room with the walls and ceiling painted black? Thank you for this review btw!
85
I have the X80J, and I've seen the X80K several times. Sony gave up some contrast over last year's TV, but the colors on the X80K are significantly better than the colors on the X80J. As for the X85K vs X80K, those are the results I expected just based on how Sony engineered the J series of both models.
What I would really like to see would be a comparison at the 85" size. The 85" X80K is 120Hz TV.
I have a X80K , nothing exceptional
Hello. How much storage memory does the X80K come with? On the Sony page it says 16 GB, but counting the applications and the OS, how much does it actually come.

Hisense hasnât reached out to me at all, last year they sent me a fewâŠ. Iâm not buying anymore TVs until I film more that I have..
I recently got the TCL series 6 mini LED⊠It has a screen defect for sure(top right corner has extra brightness compared to the rest of screen). I hate to turn it in and spend extra cash, but I never have issues with Sony⊠Might get the X85 or X90
The TCL Series 6 2022 model is definitely good, but I feel mine was defective and I gotta return it before the return policy is void. That would be a HUGE regret.

Have a 55X850D and looking to upgrade. It is good at wide angles.
Have an L shape couch setup where each side is the same length. Currently setup with TV in corner of room, going to switch to one side of couch will be straight across, therefore other side will see it at an angle.
Looking at X80K X85K and others without breaking the bank.

Not sure which Tv to get under $600 but Iâll probably get the Sony x85k.Need it for gaming. Any recommendations? Or go for the X85k?
@WhatthedunkSb - For gaming, the X85K is the clear winner as it features two 2.1 HDMI ports for 120 Hz gaming on either the PS5 or Xbox Series X.
I'm looking for a good mid-range TV in the 2000-2500 USD range that is good in a dark room and doesn't have burn-in. What should I get? I've been looking for X91J and X95j everywhere but can't find the damn things (canada).
Same probably best place to buy order models is online like Amazon
LG G2 by FAR. Itâs one of the brightest and most reliable OLEDâs because 1. OLEDâs are PERFECT for dark rooms because they produce infinite contrast due to self-lit pixels (no big backlight) 2. They added a heat sink to further avoid burn-in rumors and 3. They make their own panels(which are fantastic), unlike Sony.
@@NLCovers I want an 85 inch and that's not happening under 2500
@@NLCoversNo thanks, i don't need to be worried about burn in and how many hours TV should be on besides that, i never play or watch movies in a complete dark room so...maybe in a near future i will get my first OLED but for now Im ok with Led Full Array Local Diming TV âïž
LG Qned Mini LED
My x80k looks like it has a orange cloudy look when turn the tv on and off in the top left corner. But when watching movies and it has dark scenes I donât see it. So Iâm not sure why that is
I was hoping itâs not an issue cuz it doesnât seem to be one when watching tv. But Iâm not sure why it pops up like that when turning the tv on and off
5:57 during the gaming test the clouds and sky on the X85K are blown out, almost blended together compared to the X80K, Similar to the dog scene earlier. I wonder if you calibrated both TV's and did the test again what would look better. My guess is the X85K would be more capable but is it worth the upgrade!
Problem is the test videos he used were very bright demos. And the camera can only be set up to make either the brighter tv or dimmer tv look it's best.....the other will be made to look like it has crushed blacks or washed out and faded or both sometimes. The X80K is not as bright and the cameras exposure was set for this one mainly so it looked more colourful and better balanced on camera here. So basically the odds are that the X85K looks far worse than it actually was if seen stand alone and another thing too is that since there is no local dimming on these brighter tvs , it can't help but raise the blacks in these super bright demos.....but in real content I think this will only effect super bright scenes, watching at night in HDR darker scenes, the VA panels will look better.
So in real HDR content they should look very similar except for the brightest scenes/highlights where the X85K will go brighter but this in turn will raise your blacks to reach a very high brightness. Which is exactly what you see in this video with the dog demo raising the blacks on the X85K but not on the X80K and the X80K looking clearer and the X85K looking more washed out on camera.... đ
So I think in this video the X85K is made to look far worse than it actually is.....just read the comments, where the better looking one on camera (X80K) people mostly assume it's the best one.....đ
Edit: Whoops wrong video, in this one it's the other way around the brighter tv is in focus on camera so the X80K looks like I said crushed blacks and dim....this is why I think you should use real HDR content so the brightness is about the same, making both look good or you could adjust the brightness down a bit on the brighter tv so you see a difference still but both still look roughly how they actually look in person. Instead of always making one look great and the other much worse......also VA panels should be angled to the centre of the camera as the colours and blacks get effected otherwise.......
@barryjones2366 this is a older video before I purchased an hdr camera, growing pains of filming TVs
@@TechSteve Yeah I understand it must be difficult. I just don't like the way people seem to assume so much about what they see in these comparisons and get the wrong idea all the time. With a HDR camera and the va panel tvs angled towards the camera too, it would be much more like it actually is in person for sure. đBut in most comparisons people are watching in SDR.....so I think it would be best to try to get the brightness and angles within the cameras dynamic range by lowering the brightness a bit of the brighter tv maybe? so at least for the scene the blacks/shadow detail, brightness and colours look about right for each.
@barryjones2366 just keep in mind I watch the TVs before i film anything and I notice anything I mention it, if you have any time try to film your TV and edit the video it is harder than you think.

Itâs not hooked up right now, maybe someone else can help in the mean time
@@TechSteve Thanks. I wonder why
u should check out the hisense u6h
Not right now, i have 28 tvsâŠ
@@TechSteve dang
Yeah, i have decided to slow down because I have other tech as well that Iâm interested in. But I love TVs tho
@@TechSteve like audio n PCs
Iâm still testing a few things, but we shall see by next year after the holidays
Iâm so confused. In the description of the tv it says it is 120hzâŠâŠ.
The x85k is not the x80k
@@TechSteve I bought the x80k and it says it has 120hz . Thatâs why Iâm confused. It is the big screen 85 inch but the model is x80k!!!
@@celestebennett1525 - The 85 inch X80K features a 120 Hz IPS panel but all the smaller sizes are only 60 Hz. This is because the X85K doesn't come in 85 inches.
One thing I wanted to point out, the camera you're using to record the footage adjusts exposure to the brightest image in frame, meaning the x85k with the brighter panel looks better while the less brighter x80k looks worse. That's why the x80k looked way worse in the video than how you described it, so, what you were seeing was not what was captured by the camera.
Otherwise, great video!
I know that, Iâm using a Sony fx3 and I also adjust to the brighter TV, if you look on my channel i have over 300 TV video so there was alot of trial and error m. Now I film in HLG HDR and convert to rec. 709 for the masses.
@@TechSteveI am planning to buy the Sony x80k so was looking at review videos and found yours. I did not look at your latest videos before commenting so I didn't know. These comparisons you do are wayy better now! Thanks for your reply!
Thanks, filming TVs is no easy task, but Iâm doing it more than others and some people donât realize that this channel was built off of my own money. And very few sponsorships
@@nithinmalladi405how has the x80k been for you?
Is it just me or does the x85k look so bright to the point it washes out the colour and make the picture look unnatural? The x80k seems like it has more natural colours. Even tho the x80k is 60hz, that doesn't seem to be a factor here. 60 fps max on a game is more than sufficient to have a premium gaming experience, even though I don't have a ps5 or xbox, this won't matter to me anyways. I bought the x80k for watching TV and movies. We'll see how it fairs in my fairly bright living room.
Best TV for 55+ inch under 700$
My 50 inches X90J was 730⏠...less biguer yeah but a better TV âïž
