  • The purpose of this video is to demonstrate the much superior Mikado VBar Control Touch integration with YGE ESCs compared to the Jeti radios integration with YGE ESCs.

Always respectected your comments John, but using both systems I cant personally agree calling Jeti a historical system. Perhaps you should do a full review on a much wider picture. start with a tear down on both systems, quality of build and electonic components used, show us how you use a Spirit GTR, Axon BD, futaba set up with the V touch. remember you are comparing a single unit produced for one system, its not dual band and capable. What Jeti offers in other features is probably why its used to fly some of the most expensive pieces of equipment and on a whole bigger picture is a more popular system.

Hello. I apologize if I did not make it clear in the video. No, I do not consider Jeti a "historical system" at all. I don't believe I said such thing in the video. At around 8:00min into the video, I did mention that the "JetiBox" and the "JetiBox emulator" are legacy systems that have been superseded by the more modern Jeti "Device Explorer". The Jeti manual itself states, "For maximum compatibility with 1st generation JETI DUPLEX, the DS-12 are equipped with a JETIBOX emulation function. This emulation shows its information in the legacy two-line display format." When discussing the "Device Explorer", the Jeti manual states, "the Device Explorer (located in the Model menu) replaces the integrated JETIBOX emulation and brings additional, more intelligent ways to communicate with your remote devices." The YGE parameters can only be accessed through the Jeti radios via the legacy JetiBox, not through the more modern Device Explorer.
The video is not intended to be a comprehensive showdown between the Mikado VBar Control touch radio and the Jeti DS-12 radio. The video is intended to demonstrate only just the difference between the YGE ESC 2-way communication integration options between VBar Control Touch radio and the Jeti radios.

    John,
Thanks for another informational video, along with your inciteful commentary and wit.
I have been following your Jeti/Spirit GTR videos with much interest.
Actually with enough interest to invest in both. (DS24,GTR).
I’m still new as far as helicopters go. I’ll be setting up a Logo 480 for this season.
I know you don’t hold back and if the functionality isn’t there, kudos to you for calling that out.
I currently have a Hobbywing Platinum Pro (120A) ESC purchased for the project. Do you know of any other ESCs that “play well” with Jeti? I’m still in the assembly phase.
Thanks again for taking the time to make these videos, they are appreciated.

I believe only the Jeti Mezon ESCs fully integrate with Jeti radios. It is my understanding that most other ESCs (YGE, Kontronik, Tribunus, HobbyWing, etc) will only output telemetry data, but I don’t believe Jeti allows for programming of these ESCs via the radio. 😩

@@johnahamelv Thanks for the quick reply John!
And Yes, my first inclination (after seeing this video, and really enjoying the seamless and quite complete integration) was to peruse the Esprit site for Jeti ESCs.
My goal for this season is to head out to the club field with a machine that is pretty well setup and not having to rely on the 1 or 2 heli “gurus” that we have. Don’t get me wrong, they know their stuff...it’s just how it is delivered. I should appreciate that the club has two heli gurus.
After 30 years in the Aerospace industry it’s hard to take the heli-splaining.🙄 Keep making the content....you are appreciated!

@@airfoilsinmotion4777 I would be careful installing Jeti Mezon ESCs on helicopters. Even the guys at Esprit recommend against it. I believe the Jeti Mezon ESCs are good for airplanes and gliders, but not for helicopters.

I have a new Vbar Control EVO ordered on the way coming from Spektrum. I have a question: Do you have experience with other ESC's such as Scorpion or Kontronik? Would you recommend those over YGE? Any comments on integration with Vcontrol of those esc's?

Hello. I flew Kontronik (Kosmik, Jive Pro, Kolibri) almost exclusively between around 2016 and 2021 with Jeti/Spirit and later VBC Touch/Neo. The overall performance of Kontronik ESCs was superb. Telemetry worked equally well for Kontronik to Jeti (using the expensive Kontronik TelMe Jeti version units) as well as Kontronik to Spirit to Jeti (not needing any expensive Kontronik TelMe units). In 2018-2019, I switched from Jeti/Spirit to VBC Touch radio and Neo VLinks mainly for user experience interface (not any better overall flying performance). Since VBCT/Neo began offering 2-way communication integration with Tribunus and YGE "T" series ESCs around 2020, I tried both Tribunus and YGE ESCs with the VBCT/Neo around 2020. The Tribunus ESCs worked fine, but they were not in the same performance league as either YGE or Kontronik; I just sold the Tribunus ESCs and kept comparing the YGE vs Kontronik ESCs. In the end, I found the YGE ESCs overall superior to the Kontronik ESCs, so I sold the Kontronik ESCs and kept my fleet pretty much 100% YGE.

Hi, John. I just bought VBAR control touch. I don't have a computer. I wanted to know if it is mandatory to use a PC for any procedure for YGE or can I do everything from the Radio?

I don’t know for sure. I’ve always connected the YGE ESCs to the computer program to update the YGE firmware AND set the telemetry to Mikado protocol PRIOR to connecting to the VBCT/Neo. I suggest making sure to have the YGE app installed on your VBCT radio, and check if the radio will recognize and integrate with the YGE ESC without needing to connect the YGE ESC to a computer first. Hope it works.
