Have you heard about the most comprehensive book ever written on Cherry Shrimp? It includes information on how to keep, feed, and breed them, and it's written by my good friend Richard from Fishkeeping Answers. đ

Thanks for answering my question! đđ Always love your videos!
Thank u for this video
I use apera pc60 does it all , fantastic bit of kit but not cheap
What do you aim for with the EC meter for Caridina and for Neocaridina? Or would I just go by GH and whatever EC comes up for the GH Iâm going for?
Hmm.
I got a TDS meter.
But seldom use it..
I mean that I do my watershanges with RO + Sulewasi 8.5 salt.
And don't add anything else except if KH drops to 4° dkH then adding kH+ to get it up to 5°. To prevent it from dropping below 4°. Or doing a water change that has higher kh (I have crushed coral coming in the mailbox soon)
Otherwise don't touch and don't add anything. So knowing what is going in that is minimal and doing regular water changes.
Then I don't know how or what a TDS measurement could be of any help.
OK I went and measured now and got with my TDS pen: 185. With sulewasi white socks.
Should I now panic or should I try another TDS measuring device or calibrate it somehow.
The TDS pen is good to use to see if my RO equipment works and still produce 0 TDS. To see if any filters need to be swapped out. â€
What is the EC reading you need if you added your GH salt for Caridina?
Mine is always between 230 and 250 uS
Im trying to breed my geos , flag cichild and discus. My water reads over 200 due to me putting rock salt in . It still read high despite doing weekly 50% water changes and stop putting rock salt.
Salt is very hard to get out of a tank its why I dont like telling people to use salt in general in a tank, only thing for it is water changes I am afraid.
â@@MarksShrimpTanks i think il do 100% water change in my breeding tanks . That should do , but my main tank il do 70 % .
So Mark do you use R/O water for both Caradina and neocaradina shrimp? I use tap water for Neos and was thinking of switching over.
I do but I probably dont need to for neos, I just use it because I have it, I have a friend that breed thousands of neos and he uses tap water.
@@MarksShrimpTanks cool thanks!
The most tds meters are EC meters that divide the uS value by 2.
The most are China made and won't last a accurate reading after one year.
The same is with the cheap ec meters.
Take a good EC meter like the Hanna 98303 .
I will cost you about 85 euro but its one off best and last fot years
oh, you did change your opinion about outlet of bio filters; yes?
yes I like them well out of the water now
@@MarksShrimpTanks for a special reason? Cause you had few reasons for past approach
Right so i got a tds meter
Throwing back high hundreds
736 wee tank
860 big tank
400 tap
This cant be right
Can it ???
Hello mate, these devices need to be calibrated with solution to get an accuraye reading, and your numbers do seem high, for example my tds out the tap is 30 but i would say normall would be anything under 300.
@@MarksShrimpTanks wait is there a point .
So 73.6 86.0 40.0
I do need my eyes tested đ€
Yet more water parameters confusion ive been told twice my test kits must be faulty đ
I must not be meant to keep shrimp i honestly give up now
Not a Clue what is going on anymore đđ
To be honest just for neos on tap all I would do is age the water and dechlorinate and do like a 25% water just once every few weeks.
@@MarksShrimpTanks I've lost so many shrimp mark starting to think it's cruel đ set up this new 12 gallon but thinking I should just bail before adding anything more than snails
It looks awesome too so happy with it âșïž
