    Hey just a word of friendly advice from someone with experience in the subject, E-6000 is really toxic and the micro particles you take in through breathing the fumes and absorption through skin don't break down well in your body, they just continuously build up in your lipid cells, meaning if you get really sick or get in an accident and then end up losing weight, the E-6000 stored in those cells are re-absorbed into the body and can end up causing severe E-6000 toxicity, this can cause liver and kidney failure. I highly advise using gloves, a respirator and being in a very well ventilated room/outside whenever using E-6000. I took the warning labels as lightly as you seem to be and I am now months and months into dealing with the repercussions and it doesn't look as though I'm close to being 100% again.

    As you were describing how to move the cords, I started laughing, and here's why: your sequence is easier to remember than others I was taught.
    Translating yours, I get Left Up, Right Down, Turn or *"LURD,Turn"* - it's silly but easy.
    I was taught to go Top Down, Bottom Up, Turn (TDBU,Turn) by one person and BUTD, Turn (BUTD,Turn) by another. Neither of these is as easy to remember as yours.
    Thank you!

    I really enjoy kumihimo until the dreaded "adding of the clasp"-this always gives me the heebeejeebees-it's usually then when a huge goof happens-like the end of the braid won't fit into the end of the clasp connector, that's my signal to put it down and try it again later. Thanks for sharing this 24 warp pattern with us.

    I think this is great. I have a round and a square pad. My question is about the color work pattern. In the beginning you use blue, purple; red,purple- but for the rest of the two color combo groups you alternate the position of the first color in the lead group to the second color in the next group? I’m writing this before watching the whole video so you may explain it- but I wanted to ask before I forget. Thanks for sharing and happy crafting.

      Thanks for watching! With the Kumihimo technique, unfortunately, you cannot tie on more thread as you go. This would mean each warp can only be made up of one thread in one color. One option could be to make separate braids and join them together using cord end caps and other findings.

      On Pinterest look for kumihimo patterns, I have the regular 32 slots kumihimo discs but I notice there are no tutorials for a 24 strands or other different count of strands, so I came up with an idea on making my own kumihimo discs base on the count of strands that the pattern is calling for example if the pattern calls for 24 strands, my kumihimo disc would have 48 slots if another pattern calls for 30 strands my kumihimo would have 60 slots, depending on the number of strands double up the slots on your kumihimo disc, there’s lots of patterns on Pinterest that would show you the position of the strands.

      If you want to try different patterns I recommend doing a sample swatch. It's what we do here to see what the result will be. We are working on putting out more free patterns to help guide you.

    how long does this usually take ?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  Před 5 lety +1

      It can take about an hour or two depending on how fast you are trying to go. The first time I did it, it took me about three hours because I wanted to get the braid down, but after that I could speed it up. It gets very zen-like.

  • @maryhinkley1237

    Would burning the ends work as well as the glue to keep the ends from fraying?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  Před 5 lety +1

      You can burn the ends of S-Lon, but you will still need glue to attach your clasp so the method in the video simply skips a step.

    • @bessevaraven859
      @bessevaraven859 Před 2 lety

      It depends on what you're using. Some melt others burn...you can do a test on each material. You can use hemp, slow, emb floss, yarns, and a ton more

    How do you plan where to place the cords?

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  Před 3 lety +1

      This is one of those design processes that really rewards trial and error, that's how we learned to do it. Start by choosing a color pallet, cut a foot or so of each color you want to include, and then weave a few one inch test swatches to see how different cord placements effect the braid.

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  Před 5 lety +1

      I would not do this with a 32 slot disc, there is not enough room for the warps to travel, and can end up being confusing.

      Yes, you have 77 yards which is 231 feet of cord per spool so plenty to make a several bracelets.
