Janet literally has the most flawless discography of all time and I'm gonna die on that hill.
Her album 'The Velvet Rope' is one of my personal favorites ever, you should check it out for yourself one day, I promise you won't regret it!
Janet's catalog of hits is enormous. Over 4 decades of #1 Album's. Janet was also instrumental in starting the careers of many artists and actors like Jennifer Lopez, Paula Abdul , The young man from "Rhytm Nation " video who went on to star in the movie " Menace to Society ", The male models in "Love will never do without you " video went on to have acting careers, and the list goes on ! Not to mention her influence on female and some male music artist over the decades like Britney Spears, Beyonce, Aaliyah, Jennifer Lopez, Normani, Christina Aguilera ( who have ALL VERBALLY ACKNOWLEDGED this fact ). Just to name a few.
„That‘s the way love goes“ is my favorite. Janet looked gorgeous. Hard to not fall in love with her. 😀

That is J-Lo! Before she was “J-Lo”. I believe she was still on in living color as a dancer at the time “that’s the way love goes” was filmed. So this was prior to her becoming a sensation for her role as Selena!
Yeh she was hired as a dancer for the janet. tour, did the video and then got a movie role and quit before the tour actually happened!
She looks different because this was before her plastic surgery.

@corsicanlulu In Jennifer 's case she looked fine, but ethnic. She had a major nose job to downplay her ethnic look and started getting a push for more movies and eventually music. There is a huge difference of JLo from Anaconda to her appearance now. Janet got the nose job too (I think the Jacksons had a family discount).

Control sounded still a lot like the 80s, influenced by a lot of what was going on then. Rhythm Nation is when she truly came into her own and became a trailblazer and trendsetter in her own right. I think she's underrated, if that is conceivable - partly because she happened to be little sister to the best-selling artist of all time, and partly because she wasn't exactly the strongest singer of her generation. But history will treat her very kindly, I'm convinced of it.
That's The Way Love Goes is my fav Janet song of all time. It's archetypal of her talent. Super smooth, Super sexy, super slick and supremely talented. No-one gets close to her when she nails it!!!
Jennifer was originally hired to be a dancer for this era, the janet. era. She originally was going to be in all the videos and the tour, but she booked a series regular role on a TV show and she left to do that and then her career took off shortly thereafter. She ended up only doing this video.

Jennifer's career and BIG BREAK came when she did the Movie Selena... she became Recognized in Hollywood after that movie.... many other Big celebrities didnt know who she was up until that moment. She pretty much filled the Gap of stardom in what would have been Selena's fame and career /along side Ricky Martin for Latinos. Once Selena died, Lopez wore the New Crown. 👑

That is J-lo she went by Jennifer Lopez then. Yes she was going to be one of Janet's background dancers for this album and tour. The role for Selena came up she landed the role and dropped from the line-up as dancers and was replaced with Kelly K. The females are Josie, Tina, Tish, Shawn, Jennifer and Janet.
'All For You' is easily in my Top 3 favorite videos. I was probably 10 years old when it was released and I begged for this CD. I was glued to the TV for the video countdown after school. She was #1 on radio, Hot 100 and TV countdowns with that one. The aesthetic, her essence. Ghhh!! Thank you for confirming that this hit is LIT! Lol!

Great videos and yes that is J-Lo in the That's The Way Love Goes video. Jennifer was on of Janet's backup dancers during the "janet" era. She was to go on tour with Janet for the "janet" World Tour. Jennifer did not go because she got the role of "Selena."

Just FYI, the "Doesn't Really Matter" music video isn't cropped, it was actually shot in what we now call portrait mode. I've always assumed it was because in the video, it features Janet living inside a tiny, modern, Japanese apartment, so the video format represents that.

I was born in 1984 and I grew up with Janet Jackson since "Control". She's been the soundtrack to my entire life. Her music takes me back to so many eras of my life and she's laid the foundation for so many artists after her. I love, love, LOVE...the Queen of Pop Janet Jackson.

I laughed a little when you said “I swear that was J. Lo.” It is J. Lo. If you didn’t know, just before she started acting she was a Janet dancer at the beginning of Janet’s “janet.” era. J. Lo was supposed to be in Janet’s other music video “if.”, but she had to leave because she got another job.

Saw Janet on tour twice. One was when this came out. And that’s a younger JLo in the vid
yep its JLo she and Paula Adul were both choreographers for Janet, Micael and when the brothers were still together in the later years. You can see them in some of the earlier videos as a dancer or extra. They are younger so they look different thats why you werent sure if that was Jennifer Lopez.

Janet was 🔥 in the 80s & 90s - her videos and songs were as good as Madonna’s. Madonna will always be my Queen, but Janet is a very close second! Glad she’s getting the recognition she deserves with her new documentary ✌️

Janet Jackson's Rhythm Nation Tour was my first concert. I was a freshman in high school, and our local radio station Y95 gave free tickets to the 95th caller. I dialed in while I was doing my algebra homework. It rang for 5 minutes. Suddenly the dj answered and told me I won. I started screaming. My mom ran to my room to see if I was dying. They repeated my screaming several times that night on the air. 😂
Back then they didn't have age restrictions on winners, so my mom drove my 14 year old ass to the radio station to get my tickets. 😁🥳
