- Arkansas sparked a late run in the second half to take down Vermont 75-71 in the opening round of the 2022 NCAA tournament. The Razorbacks were led by Stanley Umude with 21 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists.

Anyone who looked into this Vermont team and remember them from past tourneys know they're nobody's pushover. Great test for AR, won with gritty D and free throws, which they've done for months now. Good game.
Exactly, Jay R. That was Arkansas-style ball. Take care of the basketball (only 5 TO's all game). Play tight, tenacious and sound D. Make your free throws (Hogs shot 80% from the charity stripe). I also was proud of the Hogs for appearing to be mostly steady and poised down the stretch, w/solid situational awareness.
Vermont is no easy team to beat. Hats off to them for making it a great game. Go Hogs!
Vermont has a very good and consistent program. Always good defense and balanced offense, while also being very well coached. Vermont could beat any team thats seeded 16-6.
Umudé is dangerously close to being a Hog legend if he keeps this up. He kept us goin when the rest of the team struggled.
That is a great point. As an Arkansas fan, about a month ago I said that one important piece of the puzzle for the Hogs will be how well the guys around JD Notae score the ball.
Vermont played great but only shot 50% from the FT line. That was the difference in this game.

Vermont missed a couple free throws that would’ve helped at the end and Arkansas shoots a great percentage at the line that wins them close ball games all year. Free throws matter

Exactly. As an Arkansas fan I take nothing for granted. And I certainly didn't think it would be easy just cause the Hogs played a #13 seed. *Pfft* I knew Vermont would bring it. Not one ounce of me was surprised that the game came down to the final seconds.

I remember Vermont went deep in the tourney 2 years in a row even was ranked because of it
Vermont won the play in game in 2012. Before that, they beat Syracuse in the first round. They've had a couple of close games, but never gone deep.

Vermont got throttled, refs kept them in this game, Williams could take all 5 in a fight no chance for soft white kid from Vermont. Tell them next time to think twice when you square up on Davis he was golden gloves 3 years. And won an mma tournament.

vermont didn't get help from the refs, the calls were gping both ways. They kept up with us by making their shots.

That should’ve been a foul
You can see the moment the player slapped the hog players arm when trying to steal. Therefore a foul. Also refs missed the play where the Vermont player threw the ball away. Vermont had more than 5 players on the court most of that game.
@@jacobwalling4128 you can really tell they wanted Vermont to upset Arkansas for whatever reason. The one guy clearly lost the ball without anyone touching it but they still gave it back to Vermont.
