- In this matchup Lei opens up with e4 and Valentina plays her repertoire opening Caro-Kann. Exchange variation is considered to be more or less fine for black and engine agrees. After Kb4 clearly Valentina is ahead as White's play against the king s not going to happen, White's pieces are too far away and Black doesn't have any weaknesses.

I usually am rooting for Valentina to win versus anyone, but of course in speed chess blunders happen more often when (time pressure/ zeitnot hits the fan and destroys the integrity of the game. She rushed when she didn't have to rush.
A shame, how much time pressure can do! I love the Caro kann It had everythink I love (good structure, easy play) until the unfortunate blunder

After Bxc2 instead of a3, Ne3, B goes somewher,e, Bxe7 Bxe7, Nxd5 gets the pawn back.

Bxe3 and then win the pawn on g4 is a simple win. How did she miss it?
what she played was better, sure you win a pawn but opposite color bishops not easy to win, just before she blundered the bishop simple Ba4 then b5 idea and black is dominating
Wow...Once Gunina made that mistake, Lei just took the game from her completely. Very accurate moves in time pressure until she got a winning position.
