My husband is French, we live in the USA,but every time we go to France we ask my mother in law to make onion soup she makes the best,but I have never had it with eggs going to trying making it don't know if my husband will like it with an egg lol but I will try the egg and just give him the soup.😁

I have made onion soup before however, NOT like this & my family let me know! :o) They LOVE it as well as I! And I have picky eaters. I had this with Manchego grated on top at a no longer open restaurant in Philadelphia years ago. It was so decadent and good. I am so glad you shared this. Amazing flavors and the egg is so decadent.

We had this last night and it was superb. (I had the leftovers for lunch today!) A tip for those following, if you make your stock from gel pots or cubes, don't put salt in when you do the pepper. The gel pot and cubes are already salty enough so taste first and adjust seasoning to suit. Also, it is amazing what a difference just 1/2 tspn of sugar makes! Has this got a Moroccan root as the eggs floated on top is also popular in Moroccan cooking? Another great recipe.
I am sure there is some type of Moroccan influence here! Much love :)

This was delicious! I put havarti on top instead of eggs and broiled to melt/brown it a little. Also added a tbsp of soy sauce while simmering for a little umami punch. Thanks for the recipe!
