- The 2010 Glenn Hughes remix of Comin' Home, as available on the "Come Taste The Band" 35th anniversary edition. Tommy Bolin's guitar is much more clear and the song is much heavier than on the original mix, and David Coverdale's voice is also clearer. Here you can listen to the sheer energy and talent of the MKIV lineup of Deep Purple.
Deep Purple MKIV:
David Coverdale - Vocals
Glenn Hughes - Bass / Vocals
Tommy Bolin - Guitar
Jon Lord - Keyboards
Ian Paice - Drums - Hudba
one of the lp's that has followed me thru the decades! i bought it my senior yr in HS. and still listen to it at the ripe old age of 67! i saw them in concert on this tour also, unfortunately Bolin died just a few months later.
Tommy Bolin on this song was like "let me handle this, lads". What a performance.
He also played the bass parts.
Best song on the album, a real bummer they never played it live.
Pffff..
There's a live version here on YT.
@@duster71 Where?
@@duster71 not really. they superimposed the band jamming, but its the same as on the album.
A for effort!
Best Purple line up and album!
Tommy Bolin was only 25 years old when he passed away.
What would he have been 15 years later, can we just imagine?
One of the world's best on guitar in Rock N Roll?
He already was one of the best, I'm sure he would have conquered the world
DEEP PURPLE ITS THE BEST ROCK BAND OF ALL TIME...….FANTASTIC
Tommy Bolin was such a stud guitar player. Sucks he died so young. Would have loved to hear what he would be doing ten years later...Private Eyes is one of my fave albums. This is KILLER Purple. And yes, Burn is in my top 5 Rock albums ever.
Come Taste The Band is a timeless classic, isn't it? Like I read somewhere, "fusion-esque" Purple
Tommy Bolin Still Rocks Our World
The guitar on this track is incredible. Gets the heart pumpin'!
C Major808 yes!! It gets me so excited every time I listen to this song
When Tommy was on he was incredible
That's what I said when I was 15. I'm 60 now.
I like Bolin's playing on this just as much as I like Larry Carlton's on "Kid Charlemagne"--which is obviously a lot. Text book lead playing.
Tommy Bolin was a genius on the guitar.
What a great track. Tommy Bolin's solo is superb. God bless his soul.
Deep Purple opened their St. John Arena show (Ohio State University) in 1976 with this song. To this day, I love the album "Come Taste the Band." Thanks for posting.
I never tire of listening to the solo, fast, dexterous and impossibly accurate.
Shockingly brilliant...........this track is very likely to go under the "radar" for some time yet.
ABSOLUTE CLASSIC!
Agreed!
Its up there with the cream of the best ever rock songs to grace this planet
Excellent opener for this new lineup at the time. I love tommy!!!
Ian Paice, Master of the Triple Run Roll. Tommy Bolin could play play many styles of Music, & was very good at all of them .Shame, died way too young. RIP Tommy.
I bought this Lp in '76, I was 13, still love it, a great and unique masterpiece! David Coverdale, a super ultra mega singer!!! Tommy Bolin, an astounding guitar player!!! Killer album!
This is great to know! Rock on!! 🤘
Tommy Bolin never forgetten!!!
This album is a rock masterpiece
This song just cranks. Guitar, Drums, and Piano. Turn it up to a million!
I really love Tommy Bolin's Riff here!!!
Love love love tommy bolin this record kicks fuggin ass!
You cannot deny this is one kick ass driving song. Brings me back to my youth. LOVE DEEP PURPLE NO MATTER WHO ROCKED LEAD GUITAR. ITS GREAT MUSIC.
One of the best from purple hands down. Great album and very underrated.
What an underrated album. One of the bands best. They should have put out a live album after this called come taste the fans. Can you picture the crowd in the wine glass. I'm a major Blackmore fan but Tommy Bolin kicks ass on this track.
They did put out a live album of this line-up.
There are two official live albums (released posthumously) with great sound and performance quality: This Time Around (Live in Tokyo 1975) and Live at Long Beach (February 1976)
There also was an official live album, "Last Concert in Japan", but it was hastily rushed onto the market. In hindsight, you could see and hear it, because the songs were not in the original order, and the sound was bad. Years later, when I listened to "This Time around", I rediscovered Purple Mk IV. The concert sounded completely different. At times, I had the impression that the band played different songs, eg during "Wild Dogs".
T.Bolin will never die !
Tommy Bolin!!!!!!!!!!! Rock n Roll
The best thing about this remix is the song's end, not fading, going through.
When I first listened to this song and the record I was a bit down. I needed more time to realize how fine this album was as well as the great talent of Bolin. He was unique and magical. You can always identify his phenomenal playing style. Three different guitarist in the band with three different styles.
My dream is to form a band with a Bolin-esque guitarist. Pure unrestrained genius.
Tommy Bolin on Bass, Glenn Hughes was in drugs exile at the time of recording.
A badass intro for sure!
I really love Tommy!!!
Jon Lord's keyboard work here is excellent.
The Piano in the backing track is stunning. He never got the kudos for that aspect of his playing. Organ Master yes, but a great Piano player too.
LADIES AND GENTS......THE AMAZING TOMMY BOLIN !!! GO GETEM KID.....
It's great how you can tell, by this being the opening track on the album, especially with Ritchie now gone and the newer members of Purple (Bolin, Hughes and Coverdale) outweighing the original (Paice, Lord), something that had happened for the very first time, that the band had something to "prove" in a way, which adds extra gravitas to how much this tune kicks ass. Bolin just kills it on that bridge, kills it. He still in my mind is in the top three of all time, if one can make such a list.
One of the best rock band in the world.....
I love the whole album. Este disco es un palo!
I like the distortion that Tommy does in the intro.
It nicely reminds me to the Judas Priest invader song intro.
DP Mark IV awesome and highly underrated.
The energy purple exude on almost all songs of all lineups, is why they have always been my fav rock band. As good as zep, sabbath, lizzy, and many are. This song is no exception. Ian Paice makes you dance! Tommy Bolin death tragedy. He fit!
Purple are the greatest!!
Bolin the echoplex master!
Horribly and unfairly underrated album this was a great opening track for a great album. Tommy and Ritchie are incomparable but Tommy kicked ass on this album Jon Lords keyboard on Comin Home was amazing
NAP 1815 Definitely a great opening salvo. Great, funky rock played at a break neck pace.
Yes i just which Tommy would have used a tuner and checked the intonation on the guitar.
Yes he did and he was not really a hard rock axe player. Cuz he was great
1:42 - 1:52 !!!!!
@@rorycunningham5457 but this song is a typical hard rock genre
LONG LIVE TOMMY BOLIN
Still listening to this in 2022.
Agreed,Tommy Bolin made this with the groovy teaser thing and yes though one of my all time faves Tommy blew him in the weeds with this!
As a bassist! I LOVE playing this song!! :D
Tommy Bolin would go on to make another killer solo album after this in "Private Eyes." He was an incredible talent.
nice Glenn's work on this remix... Tommy's guitar sounds clearer, so you can appreciate his undeniable talent at its best... LOVE that sound effect at the start of the solo (not a clue of how did he do that, anyway)... "Comin Home", "This Time Around" and "You Keep on Movin'" are not only MK IV's classics, but also DEEP PURPLE CLASSICS in its own way...
Maestro echoplex.
Bolton’s solo absolutely rips on this tune. Underrated album.
Bolton?

Friggin spellcheck
Great track of a great album.
Never gave this stuff the time of day...back in the day. I prefer Bolin's guitar work to Blackmore's neo-classical noodling and, find that the band is a much tighter unit overall. so cool...
The best DP album ever. yes it is the last real go at it by a declining band but Bolin and Coverdale are amazing on every song
Huples Cat EPL Yes! I would add that this album is the last one that is not from a reunion band brought together by the record company businessmen. I like the current Deep Purple very much and have attended their concerts but nothing will ever touch the original 1968-1976 run of the band
The solo with that rhythm is fucking outstanding.
My older brother here in Mexico brought home a box with three lps that said (lo mejor de) the best of Deep Purple, was 1977 or 1978 I do not remember exactly, it was a compilation of Mark I, II, III and IV, came this song and many others, but one of my favorites was always comin home (llegando a casa), great memories of this excellent music !!!!!!!!!
We'r stuck at home because of this corona virus. So I have lots of time to dig up some old songs because I don't want to watch all the bad news TV. Listening to albums I bought over 40 years ago but haven't listen to for almost 30 years. But I remember all the songs and they bring back a lot of memories, some bitter sweet. Man what a wealth of good music was made during those years. And this opening song is so powerfull. Still gives me goosebumbs.
kick ass rocker! keeps me rocking and rolling all the way!
The effect at the beginning of the guitar solo is an Echoplex, basically a mechanical reverb using tape loops. A trademark of Tommy was his use of it!!!
way back robbo used it also,he good player too.
Wonder what he would be using now?
Bolin incredibile
Tommy maravilhoso guitarrista!
Fantastic track, one of my fav.....!
And still fuck´em burning all...amazing song!!!
Glad I waited to get this on CD; the remastering sounds Great!
The mixed Jon way up and plugged in a longer Bolin solo...
Recently re-discovered this jewel via the 2010 remix. I WAS a huge DP fan throughout the 70's, an occasional listener in the early 80's and a non-listener until about a year ago. Over that same time period, one thing NEVER changed....my listening to and admiration for: TOMMY BOLIN. I was lucky enough to see Bolin 3xxx's...twice with the James Gang and once solo( the solo show was the tour supporting his 2nd solo LO...Private Eyes)...sorry, back to Deep Purple...Re-listening to the remaster of this 'grossly underrated' DP record has brought me back to the "re-mastered" church of PURPLE. Many of the DP staples sound newly fantastic! But a couple (Who Do We Think We Are/ Cone Taste the Band) are above and beyond that. One thing I can now say with confidence: "TOMMY BOLIN was, by far, superior to Blackmore in every facet of playing the guitar."
I would like to shake your hand......Now...HERES A MAN WHO KNOWS MUSIC AND A GREAT GUITAR PLAYER WHEN HE HEARS ONE ! BRAVO....GREAT GREAT POST ! Keep em coming.......by the way....do you like the song.....DEALER ? and.....what do you think of the guitar solo Tommy plays on that tune ??? Sincerely, Joey
I bought the Tommy bolin box set cds years ago with his James gang stuff. He kicked ass!!!
Nobody mentions (remembers maybe) the greatest album they ever did: Deep Purple in Rock!!
It's still one of their most popular!
Best Song of this band in my opinion, I Just Adore this piece.
Glenn Hughes said the chorus reminded him of the 7 dwarfs singing "HI-HO"🤣🤣🤣
If only he could sober up to attend the recording session…
I love this song and I LOVE this album
Let's rock!!!
THE GTREATEST BAND EVER!!!!
I love old fresh sound
Unlike Ritchie w Rainbow, Mk4 tried to do something different, which is what CTTB was all about MK2 fans just never gave Mk4 a chance. Bold effort though
Tommy Bolin!!!!!!
The only DP studio album to feature the late, great Tommy Bolin. I still have my vinyl copy, well worn of course!. R.I.P. Tommy
I am literally listening to this song as I sit at Tommy Bolin's final resting place.
Tommy bolin 🤩🤩🤩
Deep Purple was great under this period (ca.1975) with Tommy Bolin.
For me the best Album from purple
Wouaouuuuu very very nice...
Deep Purple has some of the greatest guitarists in history, compared to other bands of this genre. Blackmore, Bolin, Steve Morse, Joe Satriani. Even Eric Johnson has appeared with them. But they never lose the DP sound.
Well, they lost the DP sound with Steve Morse, so I don't know what you're talking about...
@@jondunmore4268 "..so I don't know what you're talking about..." Obviously.
extraordinaire tommy bolin
feel like reaching an orgasm!!!
excelent!
Tommy's solo is brutal
It was a different album after the legendary DP.. We loved this style over time... A DP doesn't come easy...
DC nunca cantou do mesmo jeito nem mesmo no whitesnake 🎤🎤🎤 Coverdale never sang with the same voice again
Genial disco , 32 años acompañándome esta música !!!!! Me emociona
Que maravilloso album!!!!
Glorioso!!!!
Wonderful !!!!
WOW!
my favorite song ,next the Drifter
best purple album , every song is ace ..
