    The silver braze is really good for filling bigger gaps and cracks as it flows much thicker than normal 0% silver braze. Support the channel at no extra cost to you by using the affiliate links above!
    Liquid line restrictions although somewhat uncommon can be difficult to troubleshoot. This system, being used at a Subway, had a sudden and catastrophic liquid line restriction in the expansion valve. Liquid line restrictions often happen at the metering device, or in the filter driers. kinked or crushed lines, can also cause issues. Anyway, hope you enjoy the troubleshooting experience and repair!

    Your pretty good for being so young. You obviously grew up around it so it was easier tonlearn when it came time. I grew up the same way. I got tons of hate in the union when the old timers knew a fraction of what i knew lol. They dont like it when a "kid" is better than the foremen. Lol. Keep on getting it bro. Doing great. You can tell you have been taught right

      You are correct! I work with my Dad, so it was earlier learning. I would not like working with a union, seems like there's always a lot of drama and people looking down on each other for no apparent reason.

      @ReubenSahlstrom it can definitely be that way. It's very much a "go with the flow" type deal. And if you were taught to jam the job until it's completed bc you don't get paid until the job is done you would find it very hard to fit in. Haha I did. And they worked at a snails pace milking every job for the last minute. Very tough to adapt when you are taught to work hard and that's the only way you know how. I pissed off a bunch of old timers at a Chrysler plant while we were reskinning the paint booths during holiday pay haha

    Will there be a video showing how freon is pumped into the receiver when the filter on the refrigerator is changed?

    Worked on a unit almost exactly like that today at a Subway. Thankfully it was just a refrigerant problem. The unit I worked on had an AXV, I would have rather had a TXV. Good work.

      This was at a Subway. 😂 What company manufactured the unit you worked on?

      @@ReubenSahlstrom It was a Duke. Almost exactly like the one in your video but a little older. Had a mechanical thermostat and an AXV. Otherwise it was exactly the same

    Did you replace the line tap valve with a brazed unit? Did you flow nitrogen?

    Nice work. Reach-in can b a real PINTA to work on especially with a txv n its location. I'd rather c cap tube on reach-ins n leave txv for walk-ins..

    Why would you fill with liquid and not gas on the suction line?

      Blended refrigerants must be charged as liquid.

    I saw that you left the bolt on piercing valve on the low side why not braze on a permanent port. I personally have not had good luck leaving those on systems typically causes leaks later down the road.

    • @ReubenSahlstrom
      @ReubenSahlstrom  Před 2 lety

      To be honest, I was planning to add a port there, but couldn't find one on my truck, so I left it in. I got rid of the high side one, and added the new filter drier that had a port on it. Good reminder to get some of those port adapters back on the truck.

    txvs - they're great, that is until they break.

    • @ReubenSahlstrom
      @ReubenSahlstrom  Před 2 lety +2

      Yup! There are definitely advantages to both expansion valves and fixed regulating devices. I like the simplicity of a piston oriface, but l like how TEVs give you the flexibility of keeping a little extra refrigerant in the system.

      @Jon-hx7pe Před 2 lety

      @@ReubenSahlstrom they're good on zoned hvac, low ambient, 2-stage/var capacity - but for single stage straight cool and most refrigeration applications, i would prefer an orifice or cap tube. simple with nothing to break mechanically.
