ORLANDO, FLORIDA 32867 - Hudba
One of my favorite Zeppelin albums. Probably because it didn’t get much airplay, so I haven’t heard the songs a billion times. Awesome! Thanks, Justin!
My fav Zepp album 😍
My favorite Zeppelin song
Usually goes with the next track "Celebration Day" but still good on its own.
I haven’t heard this one since my teens. When I saw the title, I couldn’t remember it. Now I’ll never forget it. Thanks! 👍
Yeah, I had no idea what song it was either. Figured it was good though. It was.
The greatest thing you can ever do, yah
Is trade a smile with someone who's blue, yah.
It's very easy
Zeppelin III was a misunderstood masterpiece. The critics hated it but it's beloved by the fans who understand that they are more than Whole Lotta Love.
One of my favorites
Sweet! Thanks for sharing!
Haven't heard this one in fifty years or so, loved it at the time. Even though it's been long, instantly caught on with the music and lyrics. Thanks for this memory lane!
One of their best. Interesting chords, more full of eastern promise than a camel train carrying a load of Turkish delights.
So Good!!!
Great song, love it.✌️
This is an amazing and underrated album. There's so much here, they're really striking out into experimentation after two albums of power blues, making it all the more psychedelic and trailblazing. It's not quite where they'll go next on LZIV, but well on it's way. In fact, I think of it as a perfect album, but for the controversial Hats Off to (Roy) Harper. And this track is exceptional in every way.
One of my favourite Zep tracks. Needed to go straight into Celebration Day though, as you probably guessed after.
I’m not a big fan of Led Zeppelin but I love this song. This song sunk deep into my psyche mostly due to the haunting strings. As a kid in the late 60s into the 70s my family lived in Australia - my older brothers had the first 3 LPs and this takes me right back to the time and place. The LP cover art was not completely original though - the first Soft Machine LP from 1968 uses the same format - the front cover has holes through which images printed on a rotatable card disc (or volvelle) behind it showed through.
I'll be honest : III is the only one from the first four LZ albums I genuinely enjoy. All their heavy blues stuff sounds neatly produced and arranged but fake to me. Some clever moves here, some fascinating sounds there, a classic riff delivered with gusto at the corner... all sorts of bits I can pick up and get fun from but on the whole the songs don't touch me. But with a folkier album like LZIII (or on a folky songs like Battle of Evermore), I don't know why, I feel I get something that relies more on e genuine feeling from them rather than a clever idea or a posture, it's much easier for me to enjoy.
Good reaction 🔥
Let's analyze this and decompose in each part: those strings made me think a song like this is impossible to do today. Haven't we noticed how much of the eighties pop music had sax in it? I asked a friend, why not nowadays? The answer was simple and worst than I imagined. "in the history of pop music, the instruments are all being taken out." so we reach a time when there's so much music being made by people who aren't even musicians.
What do we get?
No pleasure, no greatness, no experience. While we're getting more and more dull, closed, supposedly more brain made, but less and less able to feel.
"I am a rock", someone has said many years ago.
(of course, there's many other reasons why we've reached this point. And I know it happens with major and general pop music, that if we look on the borders, with independent music, the situation changes completely. But, hey, led zeppelin was general pop music then. This is my argument.
We're being cheated and trapped.
Yup.
Just to give you an idea of how much I like this song, I have a guitar tuned just to play this song, just because it's addictive, vicious...
Looking forward to when you get to Heart's album 'Little Queen' and hear the duo 'Sylvan Song/Dream of the Archer'...
With the eastern sounding strings and the steady rhythm, Friends always sounded to me like a boppier version of Kashmir.
A prelude of things down the pike, perhaps?
I’m guessing some kind of open tuning DADGAD maybe, someone knows. Beautiful strings and drums echoing the Middle East, gorgeous. Plant’s at the top of his range game. Everybody is having fun here. All about friends, kinda like here. Great non overplayed tune, love it.
Someday by Los Lobos please.
When I first heard this track, almost 40 years ago, I actively hated it. The Phrygrian mode of the main riff just raised my hackles in a way that I can't explain! Since then, I have come to love the track, and the rest of the Led Zed III album 😍
