Zane Lowe described this as a "doomdancing" song, and I didn't know how much I needed that word to capture why I love this song so much--because that's my entire mood. This is quickly becoming my favorite song on the record.

Two years ago I had to face the deaths of my grandparents, and a very close friend who was like a brother to me, after all these months of therapy i'm starting to see the colours again in a world that was absolutely grim, i'm really glad FOB released this, matching my feelings and making me feel even more satisfied with myself

FOB should make a music video to What A Time To Be Alive that's like, exactly like one of those dance workouts from during lockdown.
Slowly heighten the contrast with the dance workout so you figure out when it is. Snapshots that flow into each other.
Kids running in the background, pan to random kicked-out cousin staying in the garage failing to medidate, pan to husband delivery driving and scrubbing his hands every time he gets back in the car who touches a pic of his dad in the car, pan to dad in the hospital videocalling with mom, pan to nurse getting home and puts on the workout while she eats food delivery.
But the nurse gets home, and home, and home, and it's snippets of different workouts until we're in present day. And the apocolypse is still going.

Fall Out Boy is just an awesome band, period. This song is one of my new favorite songs.
i am really glad patrick said this is supposed to be like the darkest wedding song ever, or else i would be super annoyed that there yet another big band, upbeat, complete opposite of the dramatic fall out boy songs i love on the record. however, no matter how much i may dislike a song overall, patrick is the absolute master of writing great bridges.
also, i am dumb and do not understand most of pete's lyrics, but so it seems the vulture is getting too full to fly is fucking brilliant.
