Also the idea that there is beauty to be found in the progression of imperfection -- hence the highlighting of the mended break with golden/silver lacquer. "Kin" refers to the precious metal used to color the lacquer, but "tsugi" carries the meaning of succession or grafting onto, if anyone was curious.

The irony that the lyrics of the song are "I spent 10 years in a bit of chemical haze, and I miss the way that I felt. Nothing... " and I'm sat here crying, feeling everything. This band have been with me for 20 years. I've been through so much with them.

This band grew up with me. I loved their entire discography and the growth and evolutions they've gone though.

Pete's words and Patrick's voice are really a stab in the heart. I really love this album with everything I have
Kintsugi is a Japanese art of repairing vases with gold to put it together. Basically, Pete is saying that he's broken yet perfect (even with being an addict), as what the art form suggests.
I've followed these dudes since I was a little snot nose 6th grader in 2005, can't believe how far these dudes have pushed the envelope. Some people won't like it, but these guys are the face of Rock and Roll in the modern Era.

i thought that with MANIA, initially, at least for a couple tracks. but since it released, every track has grown on me. I really appreciate that album more with retrospect. Despite its flaws (I wish the balancing/mixing was better, my common critique with their 2010s output), and even if its their weakest album, it's still damn good.
and for people whose vibe wasn't their 2010's stuff, well FOB is back in full swing, with an album that synthesizes all their past sounds into one, while still bringing so much new to the table. love it. :))
Depression fucking sucks, it takes away one's ability to meet their social needs. But then, normal people who get to experience pain, are their situation any better? This song really nails a person's realization on recovery.

I been a fan of FOB since I was 12 and I’m 30 now. They were my favorite band up to Folie a Deux. Despite all the things we’ve been through together my dear Fall Out Boy, you’re the only ones whose music can invoke such a deep yearning feeling of nostalgia inside of me. This song is doing that. This album is in general, but right now this song is the strongest in that regard. I feel moved, somehow in a way that only FOB can move me.
I spent 15 years yearning for a Fall Out Boy album that sounded like IOH or FAD. I finally got my wish.

It's like they're observing my life and decide to drop an album about it
they're humble and genuinely care about the music creation process, so they put their hearts and souls into everything they make. Not every artist does that. They don't make anything they don't want to make.

So far this is the best album I've heard since 2009. Wow I love it
something about the howling at the end is really sad. there's just something so empty about it, but there's that underlying desperation that comes through. it's such a small sound crying out to be noticed and it really breaks my heart. idk what but something about it sounding so desperate reminds me of certain phrases in their earlier work that are meant to have this pathetic air to them. but it ties into the band seeing themselves that way. like such an intense modesty that it turns into self depreciation. but the howling is that part of the words that have no bad intentions. whatever it is, it's making me more emotionally attached to their music 😭
I kinda feel the same way, especially with the dog from the cover art being a moving ghost
It is actually one of Pete's kid howling. He said in a interview that the kid was going through a phase of howling and they ended up deciding to put it on the record.
Personally, felt it like a puppy learning to howl, like it was the spark of hope for the next/new gens.
Guess everyone interprets it differently.

Good lord this is easily one of my favorite FOB songs EVER!!!!!!!!
I see the howls as Pete telling his kids to embrace their wildness, that it’s okay to be feral and feel.
I also see this song being about bipolar disorder. My mom has bipolar disorder and she spent a lot of her life terrified her kids would have it. In the most heartbreakingly beautiful way, the howls are, to me, the papa werewolf teaching the baby werewolf to embrace every part of themselves.
This is just my interpretation, from a very personal lens. I love this song. So does my mom ❤️
Pete’s daughter howling at the end in her goofy little phase honestly completes the emotion in this song in such an unexplainable way.
