When you see Dawkins, you see a genuine human being. There is nothing fake about him. I remember when the Eagles foolishly let him go. He was almost in tears. He loved Philly and the Eagles.

The way he took the first 6+ minutes of this speech to lift up everyone else before even talking about his accomplishments or his career is amazing. A true testament to Brian Dawkins the man. Because what so many people don’t realize is that B-Dawk the player is beloved in this city, but I’d argue that Brian Dawkins the person is even more beloved.

My father passed away in 2016 at 51. He was a Cowboys fan. But seeing this speech would've bought tears to his eyes. He always was a firm believer in defense and loved to say "Defense wins championships". He was a man of God in his later years, and seeing Dawkins speech reminds me of him a lot. Great speech, I'm sure my pops would've loved it too.

I struggled with depression my entire life and was in and out of toxic abusive relationships. Four years ago this speech happened, four years ago I went back to school, and got my life on the right track. Dawkins is dead on. Don't stay where you are, keep moving, keep pushing through, because there is something on the other side.

Respect from a Raven. B-Dawk alongside my idol Ed Reed was a time growing up witnessing these legends put in the work! I bear the #20 with me at all times because of those two.

It's was obvious that this man was destined for the Pro Football Hall of Fame. But what I didn't know was how great a human being he is. His speech was so inspirational and simply awesome.
