    Really nicely done!
    I do feel as though this could have been slightly better by either being just 'The Evolution of 2D Animation", "A History of Disney Animation" or having more clips from other types of animation earlier on in history.
    For instance, I feel as though Wallace & Gromit could have come in a little earlier, as I think Aardman are very much pioneers of modern stop-motion, taken to new heights by Laika.
    I think there was a little too much Disney and not enough of much else, it definitely could have done with Tom & Jerry, anything by Chuck Jones or Tex Avery, perhaps some 60s Hanna-Barbera or even 90s/00s Hanna-Barbera. Granted, Disney are quite literally the pioneers of traditional animation, but it'd have been good to see more breadth of who was inspired by Disney.
    A peppering of more European and Japanese animation would also benefit this.
    I hope this is coming across as constructive criticism :-)
    It is good, it's just it could be even better.

    • @MrBongers
      @MrBongers Před 7 lety +5

      Johnny Bravo - I greatly respect and admire Richard Williams, but it is just absurd to say he is the "the first animation genius to actually teach others the professional craft." Dick most certainly would NOT claim that ... WHO , pray tell , TAUGHT him and his studio animators ? Do the names Art Babbitt , Ken Harris, Grim Natwick ring a bell ? Dick's book is based on Art Babbitt's lectures that Art gave at the Williams studio in the 1970's (and additional wisdom gleaned from veterans like Ken Harris , Milt Kahl, Grim Natwick, Abe Levitow , all of whom Dick credits in his book and video series) Art Babbitt never lived to put all his lecture notes into book form, so Dick did it himself. Not to mention the teachers at schools like Cal Arts and Sheridan who were passing on the techniques of classical character animation for many years starting in the mid 1970's , and great animators like Eric Larson at Disney who taught and mentored so many young animators in the 70's and 80's (many of whom went on to become the super stars of the "Disney Renaissance"). Ben Washam (one of Chuck Jones's key animators) used to give animation lessons for FREE in his home to anyone who seriously wanted to learn the craft.
