To give credit where credit is due, this song was written by Hugo Peretti, Luigi Creatore, and George David Weiss, and the melody is based on "Plaisir d'amour," a popular French love song composed in 1784 by Jean-Paul-Égide Martini.

We used to play the humming game when I was a child and I remember having to guess what my mom was humming and then taking my turn. It was a win win because if I guessed it, I felt like a had a small victory. But also when my mother guessed what I was singing I felt like I had succeeded in communicating with her that tune. So it was a fun game and it's a great way to teach children to sing if you already have that skill. I never had a formal voice training lesson and I'm a little old for it now because I'm 71, but I've been told by many people professionals in the field that I have the best one. Well, the folk singer said had the best natural voice folk voice it ever heard and the jazz singer said had the best natural jazz voice. I have he ever heard and the country singer said you have the best natural country singer I ever heard. But truthfully, I just had a mom who taught me when I was two and three and four and then now that I'm 71 I've lost a lot of that range and I doubt that lessons would do me any good at this point. But you know I was poor. I never could afford any formal training. I learned to play guitar minimally but you know we all have gifts and some people. They just need a little stimulation of that gift and they can become very good at what they do. I don't think that everybody is cut out to be a singer, but if you have the gift you can stir it up within you and training is a good thing. I wish that everyone would have had a mom like mine to train them. My mom actually her voice was pretty good but I feel like I stood on her shoulders and my daughter is amazing. She can sing and I taught her but I had three kids and I tried that game with all three of my kids and only one of them really had the gift. That was kind of the way it was with my mom too because she had six kids and only two of us became singers but she had to gift of teaching

I've listened to some of these lessons a few times now and I can already tell a difference in my voice. Controlling my inflections has always been a struggle but somehow Lisa has helped me in a very short time to get it smoothed out. She mainly instills confidence that it can be done. Thank you!!
