Man I’m a Clark fan but Reese killed it today. She put it in her own hands to lead the way to a comeback. Clark didn’t show leadership. Didn’t even take a shot in the last minutes when it mattered. Coaching for fever was terrible too. Gotta give props to Chicago for not giving up. Good game tho had me tight to my chair yelling at the tv. Was actually better than some of the nba games.
Good on you for the balanced take, I largely agree. Bottom line if CC really is "HER" then she needs to take the last shot. End of story. I think she was scared of the moment. Now to be fair, part of the reason for that could be Christie telling her to pull back and shoot less. She had the opportunity to take Chicago's HEART with a game winner. It was a thrilling game though. I can't remember an NBA game being that exciting.
She was told not to shoot and run the plays at the end of the game.... to put the other players in position to shoot. Plus, if you consider she had 16 pts at the end of the 3rd quarter and sat out most 4th quarter, it not hard to figures she hits at least 6 more pts...victory. Finally, if you think the way Sides is jacking CC around is not beginning to have her doubt herself, think again. She not shooting because her confidence is fading do to the Role she plays on the team. She wants to shoot, but that's not the play called. So she is now indecisive. Plus, no leadership, more than 13 assists.. Everyone commenting on how well she ran the court and her play that day was historic. Did you even read the headlines. The coach has indicated by making her the pt guard and publicly stating CC shoots too many 3s. Finally, to the good of the Sky management they drafted Cardosa. They difference in Reese's play before and after is major. The opposing teams have 2 worry about 2 big players, both with skills. Furthermore, the Post up offense played right into the Sky hands. The last time the Fever ran an up tempo, transition offense. Reese and Co had to run up and down the court .. It made a difference....look at the score. CC is in a no-win situation. I predicted this early on by changing her role, not having a decisive coach who is also inadequate and that she and GM are bound and determine to run an antiquated Post-up offense, that CC was in for a long year They don't care. the butts are in the seats, the tickets are sold. This was the plan all along. Make CC into a show pony. Just trot her out and give the fans just enough to make them come back. Well not for much longer. They want to see her shoot and score.

Tough loss for this Fever fan (only since May). I watch WNBA exclusively, then mostly, and now mainly to follow Caitlin Clark progress into the superstar she can become (ever closer)! Great to see the obvious improvement in her play w/ her teammates: some 'em good too! But I see that there are some ballers in the other teams too. Clark is NOT yet at the level of all-around superstar A'ja WIlson, Breanna Stewart or Ionescu. And I must give grudging but due credit to Angel Reese for turning her team around when they were down 10+ late in this game. I hope that the avoidable loss to Reese and her Chicago Sky team motivates Clark to continue to sharpen her game and also for her to be more the DAWG that competitive Reese is and that Clark was also very much so at Iowa when she could do no wrong. I have no hate, no blame, just enjoying it all. Onto the next (Fever) game!

I was a season ticket holder for 5 years for the Liberty back in the 90s. Love Women basketball but the WNBA is not women collegiate basketball. I used to think the men were bad for becomer chuckers in the pros but a lot of these ladies are worst with the chucking. You know you were taking 3 pointers in college because your coach wouldn't let you. Why you trying it now in the pros?

The thing with CC that I have seen in several games now is that she refuses to step up and take the difficult shots in a close game at the end. Since she is the star, let her be the one to take those game winning shots. That's not the time to pass the ball unless its a clear lane to the bucket, its weak. She keeps bailing out at the wrong time, real winners take on that role regardless if its a miss. Cmon Ms. Clark, shut up the haters with taking on the full role of a star.
This rookie class is performing so well it can be difficult to give them some leeway because they’re still rookies. It may be that she’s not fully confident in doing that yet. It will come with experience.
